Lucas Mesdag, DMD, PC is an endodontist located in Juneau, Alaska. Dr. Mesdag specializes in root canals, and his patients rave about his quick, painless, and effective techniques.
One patient writes, "DR M saved my tooth with a root canal. The equipment he uses is pretty high tech, and the technique is quick and painless and effective. Root canals are his specialty I think. He does a great job."
Another patient, however, had a negative experience with the billing process. They write, "First and foremost, Dr. Mesdag's treatment was top notch!! My opinion of how the office staff communicates any billing issues is not as great. I asked at the very start how much the treatment would cost and what I was told was NOT the case."
Despite this negative review, many patients appreciate Dr. Mesdag's expertise and caring demeanor. One patient writes, "Thank you for being here, Dr. Mesdag! We are fortunate to have such a caring and attentive endodontist in our community."
Dr. Mesdag's office is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. He does not have weekend hours. His office is located at 9309 Glacier Hwy B105 in Juneau.

First and foremost, Dr. Mesdag's treatment was top notch!! My opinion of how the office staff communicates any billing issues is not as great. I asked at the very start how much the treatment would cost and what I was told was NOT the case. Furthermore, I only find it fair to inform Premera BCBS insurance holders that Dr. Mesdag is NOT in network, even though the Premera web site states such. You WILL be balanced billed any amount above and beyond the usual and customary costs. Again, with that being said, if I would have been told the billing facts upfront, this would be a five star review, as Dr. Mesdag is the best I have seen to date!!!

I spent 1 hour and 15 minutes with Mesdag and he charged me $2050. He never advised me in advance of what the fees would be which is contrary to Dentist's code of ethics. I would not recommend this dentist.

Dr. Mesdag is a thorough and competent endodontist, trained in the latest techniques and materials. We are lucky to have him here in Juneau.
