I recently had a deep cleaning at Laurel Smile Dentistry.
I have anxiety about going to the dentist. Major anxiety to the point of panic and avoiding going. Dr. Shibahtu worked with me to calm my deeply rooted cultural fears about dental care and health.
Esther, my Dental Hygienist was excellent. She was very patient and thorough. She went the extra mile to give me the cleaning I needed with the proper numbing agent that would be less traumatic. She even called me to see how I was after my first cleaning.
The front office staff were accommodating to help me with a payment plan to pay for the procedures, which also allayed my fears about cost vs. care.
I highly recommend Laurel Smile Dentistry.

I love Laurel Smile Dentistry they are absolutely the best. I just had 2 cavities filled and didn’t feel a thing. The Staff is taking every precaution to ensure a safe environment and I really appreciate their efforts. The service is excellent, and I highly recommend this Dental Office for all your dental needs. This is the BEST dental office I have ever gone to.

The office was easy to get to (very close to several bus stops) and accessible (including chair lift and ramp to get up from street level). The entrance was a little confusing for me due to lack of labels (and lack of coffee on my end). There’s two entrances and they’re just finished with a remodel. The waiting room was clean and low scent. Smooth jazz played throughout. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I hadn’t been to the dentist in over TEN YEARS so was feeling a lot of guilt and shame. I was afraid they would judge or scold me, but everyone was so kind and offered simple tips to help me improve my daily oral hygiene routine. As a new patient, I got a cleaning, X-rays, and comprehensive exam for $248 (w/o insurance). They showed me photos of my teeth and explained what I was looking at. I’m not dreading my follow up appointment in two weeks and will be sending my partner in next!

Just went in for my cleaning with Esther and had a great experience (as usual). She is gentle, kind, and very thorough. When Dr. Sibhatu came in to see me, she was already prepared with areas that she had analyzed on x-ray. Dr. Sibhatu is very attentive and always makes me feel that there is no other patient waiting. He listened to my concern about my sore jaw and did a very thorough analysis and we came up with a plan together to address it. He too is very gentle and kind. I highly recommend this dentistry.

I have Delta Dental with the Federal Employee program (can only accept PPO), and this provider is Out of Network. I wish I would've known that before coming.
I think it was an honest mistake the dentist office not knowing, however, I paid $300 for something that should've been free (and this was devastating to me, I needed that money).
This dentist is not PPO, they are considered Premier/out of network and therefore the insurance will only cover 60%. The office should've informed me of this before I got the cleaning.
So, hopefully any others in this program will not make this same mistake.

My Experience at Laurel Smile Dentistry is amazing. I had several works done from braces to implants. Dr. Sibhatu is one of the best dentist I have ever come across in Oakland. The staff is very welcoming and they have such amazing ambience in their office. When you walk-in they welcome and offer you coffee and their office is very clean. They have modern equipment and technology and I highly recommend Laurel Smile Dentistry.

Laurel smile dentistry office is known for its warm reception and good care. I love it !!!!. I found Dr. Sibhatu to be obsessed with extreme perfection in his profession. He always takes extreme care and adequate time until he sees real smile on my face! I believe that he enjoys his profession very much!!!
