Warning: This office runs a SCAM to increase billable amounts by
1: Telling patients they'll have to come back again for the service they made the original appointment for and turning a single cleaning appointment into two office visits
2: Requiring a deep cleaning when when only a normal cleaning is warranted
3: Demanding a cash payment for the deep cleaning instead of running the charges through dental insurance.

Made an appointment specifically to have my teeth cleaned and made that abundantly clear on the call. I'm one of the lucky few who rarely needs a cleaning. When I do go in I'm consistently told everything looks great.
This office started by taking an extensive set of x-rays without asking anything about when I had last had x-rays done. That should have been a red flag. Without prior records they have no way to know if what they are seeing is new or whether my condition is stable. At no time did anyone in this office ask for prior records.
The dentist then came in and commented on my good dental hygiene and asked when I last had my teeth cleaned. I made the big mistake of telling them that it had been over a year.
There was an instant change in her demeanor, she got very serious and all of a sudden I had big problems with gums and bone loss. Absolute BS. This woman had absolutely no way to know whether I was having recent problems or not and didn't care, she just wanted to increase her billable amount with a scare tactic.
Then she said they couldn't do the cleaning at that time (which was the ONLY reason I walked in their door to begin with) and I would have to come back later. Worse they threw on a "Deep Cleaning" charge and REFUSED TO PROVIDE THE SERVICE I came in for unless I paid extra out of pocket. Again, the dentist first commented on my good dental hygiene and only became "concerned" when told my teeth hadn't recently been cleaned.
This was clearly a scam to increase their revenues and I and others I know have had it happen to us before. I have no doubt that I had said I had my teeth cleaned less than a year ago they would have done a standard cleaning without question.
I saw a 2nd dentist two weeks later who told me everything looked great. They did a standard cleaning which took 20 - 30 minutes.
Palm Springs Modern Dentistry should be investigated by state regulators.
