My husband (who has disliked every dentist he has ever had) said this office has wonderful caring people who are attentive and careful in every procedure. He was impressed with their willingness to answer questions and explain what they are doing. Everyone there was excellent - from the dentist himself to the front office staff. We are happy we were referred to you.

Had my first appointment yesterday. The office was clean and very well-run. I did not wait. Dr. Garrett was friendly, thorough, gentle and kind. There was an appointment available for a cleaning just as I was coming in, but it was given to another patient. I go back later this week for cleaning. Otherwise would be five stars if I'd gotten all done at once!

Island Ohana Dental is an extremely well-run office. They are all friendly, efficient and skilled at their specific jobs. The dental hygienists who have taken care of me are extremely professional. Dr. Jill is a gem. She is the kindest dentist ever. She is skilled and thorough in her exams and follow up procedures and she knows how to administer novocaine! I have referred my neighbors and they have appointments!

After sitting in the chair for 50 minutes past my appointment time and not hearing from anyone as to what was going on I got up and left. This clinic does not value your time. Had they apologized or let me know what was going on I would have continued to wait. Youβre not allowed to be ten minutes late for your own appointment but they can be 50 minutes and get away with it.

First visit today. Great parking lot, wraps right around building. Warm welcome. Easy to see the employees like where they work. Good vibes throughout the whole place. Feels like one big family. Dr Jill has excellent bedside manner. Literally approached me with so much aloha. Taught me a few things that I wasnβt aware of. Happy to be a part of Island Ohana Dental.

When I arrived for my first appointment(exam and x-rays), I was informed that their records showed I had cancelled. It turned out that they attempted to contact me at a number that they had recorded inaccurately. Therefore, they cancelled the appointment. That was 2 hours of wasted time and energy. For my second appointment, I was there for 2 1/2 hours, mostly just waiting. Dr. Santiago and his staff were friendly and Dr. Santiago seemed genuinely interested in my care. Then I was given a follow up to see another doctor to consult about recommended procedures. I had been diagnosed with an infection, but couldnβt get an appointment until nearly 7 weeks later. I am not happy about that.

I moved to Hilo in January 2021 after living in Los Angeles for many years. I was very happy to find that Island Ohana Dental was accepting new patients. Dr. Veena Kakarla was wonderful. She was warm and personable and very competent. After my first visit/exam with Dr. Kakarla, I was transferred to Dr. Garret Uehara since I wanted my teeth to be cleaned every three months due to periodontal pockets. Dr. Uehara has a dental hygienist, Jennifer, who did my dental cleaning. She left my teeth feeling exceptionally smooth and clean. I was very happy and satisfied. I did not get to meet Dr. Garret Uehara because I was not there for an exam. However, he did review my x-rays and found nothing wrong. I highly recommend Island Ohana Dental.

I thought it was unethical that Island Ohana Dental told me they did pediatric dentistry, just for me to wait three months for an appointment for my daughter (7), have us come in and do X-rays then tell me they donβt actually work on children and that she would have to be referred to a Pediatric Dentist. Waste of our time and resources. Frustrating. Maybe take the βOhanaβ out of your name since you donβt do family dentistry.
