Review of Indiana University School of Dentistry

Indiana University School of Dentistry is a dental school located in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a part of Indiana University, the school offers dental services to the community while also providing education to dental students. The school is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed on weekends.

The school provides a range of dental services, including cleanings, fillings, root canals, and extractions. The services are performed by dental students under the supervision of licensed dentists. Patients can expect to receive quality dental care at a fraction of the cost of private practice. The school also offers a flexible payment plan for those who need it.

While the school has received mixed reviews from patients, many have praised the professionalism and kindness of the staff. Some patients have reported longer wait times and occasional miscommunications, but overall, the school provides quality dental care at an affordable price.

It is important to note that as a dental school, the services provided may take longer than a typical dental visit. Patients should expect to spend around 2.5 hours for each appointment. Additionally, the school does not offer dental services for children under the age of 12.

If you are looking for affordable dental care and are willing to spend a little extra time for your appointments, Indiana University School of Dentistry may be a great option for you.

Untrustworthy Rude Staff Overpriced

This place cannot be trusted at all, yesterday I'd had my second appointment in 3 weeks with probably one of the rudest female grad students ever. She told me that my bridgework likely could'nt be done and if so would be extremely costly. Ended up quoting me over $13,000 for 3 bridges that should've been closer to $5,000 according to another student. In all after over 7 months of going there, they did nothing but prod around my mouth and charge me $200 for 4 visits. I told them that I was extremely upset and that the dental school told me would save me at least 1/2 or more. My original dentist that I see quoted me $12,000 for the same work, so I am needless to say going to get it done there, but only getting a partial on the bottom teeth to save $4,000. Just be aware of them and don't be too quick to believe they'll save you money!

Bad experience Incomplete work Slow process Charged for promised waived services Surprise billing No professor dentist check Urgent issues not handled well

Unfortunately had a bad experience here. I unexpectedly had to complete services at an outside dentist due to extremely slow process and incomplete/incorrect work at the dental school- had severe pain requiring immediate attention, which ended up costing way more money, time, and pain than if I had just gone with a private dentist to begin with. I am now paying bills from both offices.Other small things- charged for services that were promised to be waived, not being checked by a professor dentist during the entire visit, surprise billing for services I was not even told about. Just be cautious, ask for charge breakdown and estimated completion date upfront. If you have an urgent issue do not come here.

The staff is very nice. They made me feel comfortable. They done a really good job with my oral surgery. I love this place if it wasn't for the IU School of Dentistry I wouldn't be able to go to a dentist at all. I am very thankful for IU School of Dentistry . Some people may not like this place, but I would recommend it.

Bad Service Long Wait Time Unprofessional Conduct

I do not recommend coming here for braces. I was supposed to have my braces off over a year ago and I still have them on. You will switch doctors a lot because they keep graduating and it makes your time longer. You will also be a "test subject" for some of the students. Overall I have not had a good experience

Inadequate Pain Management Long Wait Times Poor Communication

I came in with the most pain Iโ€™ve felt in my life and they sent me home with Motrin!! I made it clear otc weโ€™re NOT helping that even liquid codine was NOT helping THEN they said after 3 extractions it would be MOTRIN again! I have to work immediately following and talking nonstop is the main part of my job second main part is smiling. There is no way to do either and they kept saying over and over we are gonna take care of your pain! All lies. Go anywhere else. It also took them 4 hours on my last appointment just for X-rays they knew 2 months ago my situation was emergency status and said they would call me within a week I waited and waited! Nothing! It took 3 months to even get in to them!!! Absolutely nothing gets done and they wonโ€™t help you to even attempt a normal life with extractions top right and left!!! Donโ€™t waste your time. I have already felt like death for months on end before getting insurance and the ability to go. Iโ€™m just killing myself. None of this pain is worth living through. Goodbye and credit to IU School of Dentistry for making this choice for me!

I was coming out of the facilities, and the door (which was very heavy,) the latch on the door scratched my right arm (bruised & bleeding) . I held pressure till my appt. Youssef, (very kind and helpful) went and got dressing & supplies to wash & put antibiotic and wrapped my arm. Then we started working on my #7 broken tooth. Which he and Stephanie take great care of my teeth. Thank you all so much for the care given to all the clients.

People are very nice but the policy of taking off your mask to put on a new one is extremely troublesome to me.

Already reached out to the school, twice. No one has bothered to contact me about the mask policy. I could agree with wearing one either over or under, but take mine off? Yeah I wouldn't want to work and be exposed like that

A very popular and busy place to get your dental needs met. All the students and staff are professional and friendly. Takes patients with or without insurance. Very detailed in the work that is done, from gathering medical history, x-rays, and exams. Students are supervised by professors and dentist onsite. Prices are very affordable and competitive. Highly recommended over private practices.

Dr Miller was a pretty chill dude. I had a decaying wisdom tooth that needed to be pulled, however I didnโ€™t really understand what I was in for.

They have a system in which you raise your hand if youโ€™re feeling a lot of pain, which at the very start of the extraction, was quite true, so I raised my hand. He re-numbed the area and the dental assistant told me that it might take extra lidocaine if thereโ€™s an abscess in the gums. I didnโ€™t have an abscess, just a lot of decay. The pressure from this extraction was just way more than what I was used to from prior dental work, is all.

Because they were so communicative, answered all my questions, and were patient, I am giving them a 5 star review. I didnโ€™t have insurance, and I know some places look down on that, but they treated me just like everyone else, which was genuinely appreciated.

I have more dental work, so I will definitely return.
