Smiles of Grand River: Dr. James Shaheen

Had a wonderful experience with everyone in this office from the receptionists, to the hygienists, the assistant and to Dr Shaheen himself. They did amazing with both my children and spent extra time explaining each step of the procedure to my daughter. Not only was it a easy painless visit, my kids are now looking forward to their next appointments. Would 100% recommend this office to everyone looking for a dentist. My daughter would like me to mention that she will be back in 6 months to wear her sunglasses again!

My new Dentist, Dr. Shaheen has proven to be the most compassionate, understanding Dentist (or any medical professional) I have ever visited. I have a LONG standing fear of Dentists from my childhood. Because of that I tend to go LONG periods without a dentist visit. Most recently I needed to have 4 teeth pulled and prior to that a thorough cleaning. My expectations were to have multiple visits for the cleaning as I have had to make multiple visits in the past. The Hygenist cleaned my teeth in 1 visit, and it was 100% painless. I cannot say enough GOOD things about the staff and for my new DENTIST - Thank you Dr. Shaheen

Dr. Shaheen is everything I look for in a dentist. Smart, patient, attention to detail, just to name a few. I mostly appreciate how much he likes his profession.

I love my dental team. They know I am a big baby and ready with the gas when I walk in the door.
I am extremely nervous and have a nervous tendency to talk and joke to much. It’s nice to see they too can dish the humor right back.
Dr. Shaheen has a lovely staff whom always make you feel comfortable, and I just adore the fact he boasts about his daughter who is just darling.
I am happy I found Dr. Shaheen, I wish they would supply ear plugs so I don’t have to hear that grinding and some gas that puts me to sleep. I’m so tense, but that’s my dental phobia and bad dental care in the past.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The building looks great. Very comfortable and inviting. Do to how good the staff is, it’s a place where you can go into in the worst of conditions, cuz we all know tooth issue pain is the worst, and have the problem handled perfectly. The pricing here is so fair for us uninsured people. I highly recommend going here. It’s too bad there isn’t more places that operate this way!!

Dr. Shaheen is a quality dentist and I've enjoyed going there for over three years. Recently however, they began sending me bills for work done over two years ago that is suddenly, out of network, without telling me this. Their claim is that my BCBS insurer is sometimes out of network and sometimes in network. Every time I was there I asked if I owed them money and they claimed I did not. But now the bills are arriving. I'm seeking a new dentist.

Update: after speaking with the office they explained that the issue was a visit in the fall of 2021 that was not covered by my insurer. I learned that I was never in-network and that the prices for many services such as routine cleaning had been doubled in my most recent visit. The office was professional in these explanations and did write off the amount owed but I'm still troubled with the lack of communication and explanation on how the insurance process works. Caveat emptor.

We moved here to New Hudson in September and I needed an opinion on the replacement of a tooth (the crown keeps falling out), so I made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Shaheen. He and his office staff are very friendly and take the time to talk with you and answer any questions you may have. They have given me the complete attention I needed to make a decision on my forthcoming treatment plan. I would highly recommend Dr. Shaheen and his staff. They are wonderful.

Dr. Shaheen is a great dentist with a great staff. They make you feel welcomed. I have personally walked out of offices ,over jokes most not all but alot of dentists just want your money they don't care about anything else or feelings they can hurt. Not Dr Shaheen . Stand up guy with a stand up attitude. I would highly recommend smiles of grand River to anyone . Ten stars

Dr. Shaheen and his team are exceptional, they have a phenomenal cultural of service and support, no matter if they are texting you, calling you, or in person, they make you feel apart of their family and their knowledge of their profession is outstanding. They put you at ease, make you laugh, and always make you feel when you leave, that is one of the best experiences you will ever have at a doctors office. If you are looking for a great relationship with your doctor and his team, Smiles is the place, I would recommend to many people, thanks Dr. Shaheen and team, you are simply the best! Lisa
