I highly recommend this office for your dental care needs. All of the staff is so awesome and the hygienist that I see, Johnene, does such a good job cleaning teeth. She is gentle and very thorough. If you're due for your dental check up, give this office a call.

Just had my 2nd visit to James River Dental. I especially liked the through care I received from Charlie and Dr. Derek Kaelin's explanation of a minor problem. He explained what was causing the discomfort and my choices in dealing with it.

I recently had an infected tooth and needed an emergency extraction. James River Dental scheduled me within the hour, to immediately perform the surgery. The procedure was quick, uncomplicated and relatively painless, thank's to Dr. Kaelin and his professional staff. My special thank's and appreciation to Dr. Kaelin, to Nicole and the entire staff of James River Dental, for their courteous and very compassionate attitude and the proficiency, of the service.
I have been a patient at JRD for several years and have always been very satisfied with their professional services, including my upper dentures, that JRD casted and fitted perfectly.

I took my four-year-old for his first visit, and alas -- he had a cavity. He was very scared at the prospect of getting a filling, but a wonderful dental assistant, Leslie, put his mind at ease. She knew exactly how to talk to a child to dissolve his fears, and she adeptly wielded the suction tool with one hand while holding his nervous hands in place with the other. I was amazed. My son left the place absolutely plastered with stickers while clutching some treasures from the treasure chest, and even though he still had a rubbery lip from the numbing agent, he told me he loved the dentist and couldn't wait to go back. Dr. Kaelin was wonderful, too -- surprisingly fast with the drilling and filling, to my great relief, but willing to take a few minutes to talk things over, too. I could not recommend this practice more highly.
