Poor Service Unprofessional Behavior Expensive

I went in to have a cleaning done with Dr. Roth office in 2014, after finding a coupon for a reduced rate for the service. I went to the appointment, was told I would be receiving a regular cleaning. Half way through the service, she informed me that she would need to do a more in depth cleaning and that the coupon no longer applied to me. There was nothing I could do but allow her to finish and pay over 100 dollars that I did not have to spend for the service (I was told they would not accept payments) The cleaning itself was horrendous. I bled so much I was nearly choking on my own blood, I was in excruciating pain the entire time, and when I asked if that was normal, she assured me it was. I was in so much pain, and still bleeding 12 hours later, and was unable to go to work the next day.
I decided to find a different dentist for any future services I needed, and when I attempted to have Dr. Roths office transfer my records, I was told that they did not have internet, could not forward he records to my new dentist without a HANDWRITTEN NOTE, signed by my new dentist, that I must hand deliver myself. I obliged anyways, and when I returned for my records, Dr. Roth was on a two week vacation and I was told I could not pick up the records until she came back. I had an appointment scheduled for that day with my new dentist (that I had already had to cancel and reschedule twice because of the records issue) and I informed the receptionist that if she did not give me my records, I would pursue legal actions against the company. She gave me my records, but only after telling me how childish and disrespectful I was being. She threw them on the counter, and I was forced to gather them and put them back in the correct order.
If I could award Dr. Roth 0 stars, you bet your assistance I would. Do not go here. Awful place.

S A

I was having problems with my wisdom teeth and by the end of the apt she had me scheduled for a bunch of other work with nothing addressing my real problem. When i asked her about it she said they would look into referring me to have them removed after the next visit. When i refused to have the extra work that i didnt go there for in the first place they were super rude to me and refused to refer me to get my wisdom teeth removed claiming she could confirm they needed to be removed in the first place. I will never go back to this office. I feel as a customer your issues should be addressed and mine we're not only ignored but i was also treated with utter rudeness. The WORST DENTAL EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Do not go here

Poor Treatment Lack of Communication Unprofessional Behavior Inadequate Service

I am writing this letter of complaint for services and treatment I received from Dr. Kathleen Schroeder Roth in Missoula Montana from 2003-2004.
I chose Dr. Roth’s name out of the phonebook as a dentist with a family dentistry practice. I was young and in college, and taking care of my medical coverage on my own for the first time in my life. I needed urgent dental care, as one of my wisdom teeth was growing out sideways and into my the inside of my cheek.
I found Dr. Roth’s assistants to be friendly and, though a little rough around the edges, amiable and helpful. When Dr. Roth came in she seemed a little taken aback about my wisdom tooth. I asked if I should have gone to someone else, and her response was that she could take care of the tooth. She did not take the time to inform me that usually oral surgeons take out wisdom teeth, especially if they are growing in strangely.
I sat in her chair for what felt like an extremely long period of time while she broke my tooth into pieces and extracted one small piece at a time. It was uncomfortable, lengthy, and honestly I wondered if she had ever done that kind of extraction before. She was grunting and squirming, complaining about how small my mouth was, and took a lot of time to extract the tooth.
During that visit she left me with a treatment care plan to repair at least 4 or 5 other cavities she saw in my teeth. She made it sound urgent, and said she would rush me through to take care of them as soon as possible so they don’t turn into bigger problems.
At this point I was kind of afraid of Dr. Roth, honestly. It seemed to me that she had gone out of her way to help me, and now wanted to make sure I got the treatment I needed. I hadn’t been to a dentist in a few years, and I had always had a history with cavities, so I felt that she must have my best interests in mind. I decided to come back to get the cavities filled.
The next visit, Dr. Roth said she wanted to work on what looked like a big cavity to her in my upper left rear molar. I said ok. Truthfully I didn’t have any understanding of what β€œa big cavity” could mean. She did not tell me that the cavity may have gotten to the root of the tooth, did not tell me what a crown was, and did not inform me that I may need a root canal. It was only once she had begun to treat the cavity that Dr. Roth informed me that she thought the tooth required a root canal. I was mouth-open on the table and didn’t think that I had any other option than to go ahead with it. She didn’t remove the instruments, didn’t take time to hear any questions I might have. She just said something like β€œI’m going to have to remove the roots of this tooth, ok?” She again had a really hard time doing the procedure, bending files, changing angles. Her demeanor with me was rough and callous. She was obviously struggling to do the procedure. It took about 45 minutes to an hour, I’d say. It was the longest and most traumatic medical procedure I had ever endeared.
Only after she had completed the lengthy and uncomfortable root canal (that she had never fully gotten permission from me to do) did she explain what a crown is and how I was to proceed.
I distinctly remember getting into my car and bursting into tears, calling my mother to both console me emotionally and help me pay for the cost of the huge bill. I did not return to Dr. Roth to get a permanent crown, but found much better care elsewhere. When I asked her office to release my records to my new dentist they failed to do so, or respond to me despite several phone calls.
This year it has come to my attention that the tooth Dr. Roth performed the root canal on needs to be replaced, or repaired. There is a root canal file that was broken off in one of the roots and there is a 4th root that was never treated and has become infected. I understand that both of those things can happen in a root canal. It is unfortunate, but it happens, both that a file can break in the root canal, and that there is a root that is hard to see and hard to treat that can become infected.

Accusation of wrongdoing Poor bedside manner

Dr. Roth accused me of trying to read notes she was writing for another patient at the reception desk. I was waiting for quite some time for a new person to figure out scheduling, and apparently zoned out in the Dr.s general direction. Oops!! I had my kids with me, and in front of them she accused me of trying to read patient records and told me to go sit down, as if she were reprimanding a disobedient child. I was mortified. When it comes to care and bedside manner, very rough all around. Terrible experience.

Unprofessional Rude Overbilling

I was in my early to mid 20s when I went to get an exam and cleaning with Dr. Roth. This was many years ago and I am getting ready to go see a new dentist which brought up my experience with Dr. Roth. I looked her up out of curiousity thinking that I would find that she was no longer practicing. I was appauled to read all of the reviews and find that one person in particular had the same experience I did.

I had a lot of cavities when I was little and thus while I was surprised at the amount she told me I had (around 7 or 8), I assumed as a professional she would know and was telling the truth. I went in and had 5 fillings put it. She was extremely rough, impersonal, and very rude. She snapped at me numerous times, essentially yelling at me to hold still. It was an awful experience and I did not plan on going back to her.
Shortly after that (prior to me cancelling the appointment), I received a phone call from Dr. Roth's dental assistant. She sounded scared and hesitant and asked me to please keep this phone call between the 2 of us as she was afraid of getting fired. She informed me that she had suspected Dr. Roth had "fill cavities" that weren't actually there before but typically only 1 or 2 in addition to others that were there. But, she proceeded to inform me that not only did she "fill cavities" that weren't there in my mouth, but notified me that she viewed my x-rays and found that I did not have one single cavity. I promised this assistant that I would not say anything but after many years (it's been about 10 years) and discovering that Dr. Roth is still in practice, I decided to share my story as I don't want anyone to have to go through what I did. I am now very nervous when I go to the dentist now and have a hard time trusting them. I have not had a cavity filled since then and hope that I don't have to in the future as this experience was pretty damaging. Thankfully, I have not had any problems with the teeth that she did fill thus far, but I paid a substantial amount of money for a rude, demanding, and unprofessional dentist to lie to me and drill my mouth for likely no other reason than to bill my insurance for more money and to fulfill some sort of sick, controlling, and demented psychological need.

Late Rude Pushy Expensive Overcharging Painful Experience

Terrible!!!! Do Not go to this woman!! She showed up late to my appointment, numbed me, then went outside and talked to the maintenance man about the roof and didn't come back for 40 minutes! Her hair looked liked she hadn't brushed it in days, she is rude, pushy and rough with your mouth--No bed side manner, doesn't talk to you about what she is doing, just grabs you.

But here's the real kicker!!: She gave me a WRITTEN estimate for a filling: $373, after I had already paid $147 for x-rays and exam, then after the terrible experience getting the filling work I got up to pay--$550 now!!!! The receptionist made some excuse for it, but its BS! You don't do an exam, take x-rays and give somebody a written estimate then to charge them so much more! I doubt she had her hands in my mouth 20-25 minutes...THEN--after 3 weeks it got so painful I had to go have a root canal...so I'm over $2000 in on 1 tooth. I seriously suspect she either caused me to have to get a root canal or should have seen that I needed one in the first place and sent me to get one. Dr. Rauckhorst is awesome for root canals--don't give this crazy woman a penny of your money.

Unprofessional Poor Service Billing Issues

If i could give 0 stars i would. This lady told me i needed work done that i didn't need done. Went to another dentist to confirm. She also didn't do a thorough job cleaning my teeth, which was done be her and not a dental hygenist. I disputed her bill and then she took me to collections for it. She needs to have her license revoked.

Misdiagnosis Untrustworthy

I went to Dr. Roth a year ago for my yearly exam. She said I had 6 cavities and made a treatment plan for me that cost in excess of a thousand dollars. I did not have the work done and went to another dentist a year later only to find out that I did not have any cavities or need any work done. Do not trust this dentist.

Finally, I have a dentist that has helped me to tackle my periodontal issues. She got me on the path that I needed to improve my dental health, and for that I will always be grateful. Fun office staff... they love their patients!

Bad dental practice Poor dental work Unprofessional staff

This place should be shut down. This practice is horrible. My teeth are significantly worse than it was before I had work done here. Please look for another dentist here in Missoula! It will save you a lot of time and extra pain! Not including the attitude of her and her employees. I would give this place a negative star if possible.
