My husband and I were very impressed with Dr. Sheils at our first visit last June. But 6 months later when we returned and found that my husband would need extensive repair and removal, everything changed. Dr. Sheils was very kind and thorough in explaining everything and was very upfront that he could do the work but that he does not sedate patients and he would give us a referral to another office if that was an issue. We didn't get the referral at that moment, which was a mistake. We decided to have another office that does sedate patients take a look, but when we called to get the referral, Sherry acted completely inconvenienced and kept trying to talk us out of the referral. She even said that Dr. Sheils wouldn't give us one and that she would have him call us to talk directly, which never happened. After 5 phone calls to Sherry we still never got the referral and never got to talk to Dr. Sheils either. Luckily, the office we went to knew our struggle to get the referral, so they called and it still took 3 phone calls from them to get the worst and laziest referral from Dr. Sheils. We were very clear that we weren't planning on leaving Timber Creek Dental for good, only for this specific treatment because my husband needed to be sedated, which Dr. Sheils couldn't do. But after the fight and resistance we got from Sherry, we're taking our teeth elsewhere. I say Sherry, because I'm not entirely convinced that she relayed any of our messages to the doctor.

Also, it always smells like cigarette smoke in the lobby and that is super off-putting.

Amazing dentist and office staff! I have been going here for 5 years. I have had my regular dental work and implants and all procedures have been done very well! Always available after hours to answer any questions.

I am so confused how there are so many positive reviews? I'm wondering if they have been long time patients or they're getting paid? The receptionist was very helpful, kind, and quick. However, the dentist was SO rude! Were new to north Dakota. I made our first initial appointments for March/April but there were two cancellations so the receptionist was able to put my husband and I in those spots day of. When I found out that they were out of network(my insurance said they were in network. They were the first on the list.) I felt hesitant to continue but I really wanted a cleaning so I said I would stay but to cancel my husband's appointment that was later at 1pm which I literally filled a cancellation spot two minutes prior. The dentist got so defensive and told me if I, "wanted to save five or ten bucks that he didn't want me anyway"! No joke. My insurance was only going to pay 60 percent of a cleaning and x-rays? How is that a couple bucks? I would understand the rude nature if I had booked these appointments in advance and cancelled but I was filling in for one of his patients that cancelled DAY OF. Seriously, he was the rudest person I have ever spoken with. I feel so uncomfortable and sad that someone I don't even know was so mean to me. I really would not ever recommend anyone to go here.

My experience here was ANYTHING but helpful. I went in with excruciating pain, and once he found out I was terrified of Dentists, he treated me extremely rude! ( I have several teeth already missing, because of bad experiences with dentists in the past, and because I was raising 3 kids alone on a very tight budget, not because I don't care about my teeth, or what I look like!) He scheduled me to have the teeth that are currently bothering me to be extracted, but I had to reach back out to him to see what he intended to do with me once they were removed. (Wouldn't a GOOD dentist try to reassure you, and attempt to take proper care you weren't treated in the same mannerisms, as in the past?) I asked if he could do a complete exam prior to my surgery in case others needed to come out, but of course I couldn't be scheduled until I was cleared from the place that's doing the surgery. Dr. Shiels was RUDE, wouldn't give me anything for the pain, (my face had a great deal of swelling and I was miserable!) and I'm still in disbelief that I had to be the one to reach out to him, for follow up. Needless to say I won't be going back, nor would I recommend anyone see this rude doctor who obviously doesn't care if you're suffering, or nervous!

I have gone to Dr. Sheils ever since he took over the Fargo practice of my previous dentist many many years ago. I have been treated very well by Dr Sheils and each of his co-workers over the years. I have had several different procedures and each has gone well. I am very satisfied with the work done at this dental office.
