I had a wonderful first visit with Dr. Dowsett today. Every single member of his staff was friendly, respectful and professional. I have sensitive teeth and gums, and they did a great job making sure I didn’t have any discomfort during my dental cleaning. Highly recommend this team.

I called the office to schedule new patient appointments for my husband and myself since they were recommended by a friend. I asked if they took my insurance and they said yes.
My husband went to his first appointment the other day. When they went to do x-rays, he said he did not want them unless they were covered....the dentist told him that most plans pay for them but my husband said he wanted to be sure they did. The dentist personally took his card and went assumingly to the front office for confirmation, he then came back with my husband's card and said yes the x-rays would be covered. Fast forward to the end of my husband's appointment when they informed my husband that he had to pay $248 because the dentist was out of network for our insurance plan. Talk about a bait and switch.
In calling our insurance to try to find out what happened, the dentist can go in and out of network....the most recent time they went out of network was 1/31/23, so right around the time when we called to schedule the appointment. While my husband felt he had a very thorough exam and found the staff very caring, we will not be able to continue to go here due to them truly being out of network.
UPDATE:
The office manager called me to apologize and let me know that they have never been in network with our insurance but they do bill our insurance. She did refund my husband's payment and is sending a copy of his x-rays for him to share when we find a new dentist. I wish we were able to go to this dentist because they do seem to have a lot of integrity. Also, as I mentioned above, my husband found the care and staff to be excellent. With any luck, during open enrollment in the fall, perhaps we can find a plan that their office takes.
