Best Dentist Ever

Have been going to Dr. Vania since his office was in Idaho City. Dr. Vania, Liz, and his team have been great to our family. We have had several cleanings, xrays, surgeries, etc. all with good outcomes.

I'm very happy with all of the staff at Dental Center at Harris Ranch. Liz at the front desk is friendly and great. All the hygienists I've had have been gentle and great, as have been Dr. Vania and his associate dentist, Brandon, who examined me last week when I was there. Completely recommend these folks!

I visited Dr. Vania for my dental check up a week and a half ago. He noticed that one of my top front teeth was darker than the other one. After testing the sensativity of that tooth compared to the one next to it, and taking xrays, he determined that the tooth was becoming necrotic. He recommended a root canal. The root canal has been completed, and, in fact, proved the tooth was necrotic. As a side note, I am an active person who has had to have two total hips. For those who do not know, total joints are susceptible to failure, if they are exposed to infections in the body, such as dental infections. If Dr. Vania had not taken the time to notice a simple (and not very obvious) color change in my tooth, the tooth would have become more necrotic and could have led to a serious infection. There is a high likelihood that that infection could have spread to the metal components of total hip implants and led to their failure. I do not take it lightly how serious this could have become, and how it proves what an amazing dentist Dr. Vania is.

My husband and I have been taking our dental care from the folks at Harris Ranch Dental for several years.. It is not often that you find the cohesiveness of employees for the long term... Professionalism and respect of each other is paramount in their dealings..Quality work, and personable service... A great mix!

In November of 2017 Dr. Vania put in a filling for a cavity that was causing me no pain. After he put in the filling, however, it became extremely painful to chew food and the tooth was very temperature sensitive. I made a follow-up appointment and went back to Dr. Vania's office, he looked at the filling and said that everything looked good and that the tooth would just be sensitive for a week or two. A couple of weeks later I was still in a lot of pain, so I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist. That dentist did some scans and recommended I have the filling redone. I had him do it that day because of the pain, and my tooth immediately felt better. However, it has been four months and I am still unable to chew on that side of my mouth completely pain free. I have had multiple dentist visits, and they are unsure if there is permanent damage from the first filling. I am also now paying to have the cavity filled twice. When I contacted Dr. Vania to ask if I could have the remaining fee on my account from the filling waived due to the poor quality and nearly four months of pain, he refused. He said that at my initial follow-up visit he thought my tooth may have been cracked (though he did not share this information with me at the time) and that I should have come back to his office, even though I already went back to his office once after the filling had become extremely painful and he said nothing was wrong. Dr. Vania's staff are very friendly, and I did not have any bad experiences with him as a person or any of his employees. However, I have never had this kind of pain post dental work. I am surprised at how Dr. Vania chose to handle the situation, and frustrated at the cost I have to pay for the poor dental work. I will not be returning to his office and have found another dentist in Boise.
