Bizarre experience. I went in with a tooth starting to abscess and howling in pain. They took x-rays and confirmed it needed to go and they said 'I can see why you're in so much pain. We'll schedule an extraction for a week out and get you antibiotics and pain meds'. They came back and said ibuprofen? They'd decided it was risky considering my current meds to prescribe something I know works. Meds I've been on for 20 years. Been through heart surgery, broken back and pain management for the latter and never once had a doc or pharmacist warn me of interactions. While they are sure to respond with putting my best interest first, it smacks of incompetence and a lack of compassion, given the severity of my condition. They finally relented and gave me Tramadol (from the latin term meaning 'useless placebo'). I then proceeded to have one of the most painful nights in recent memory. They get two stars (rather than one) for the staff, namely Holiday, who was very kind and knowledgeable. Jennifer at the front desk, also very sweet. My dentist, Jessica, was very personable but in the end, I have to go with a dentist who understands the clues presented in the x-rays and how those discoveries might warrant specific action. Find yourself a dentist who is older, whose ideals have been replaced with pragmatic sensibility. $158 wasted. But the dentist has like a dozen kids, so take 'em out for ice cream, on me.
