Initially, I gave the entire dental office 5 stars, however, after arriving at my appointment yesterday, May 31st, 2022, I feel compelled to leave a review based on how I was treated by the front desk person, Tonia. Last Friday, May 27th, 2022, I received an automated text reminding me of my dental appointment on 5/31/2022, the reminder stated that my arrival time was 11:30 a.m. and my appointment time was 11:45 a.m. as I had previously noted on my wall calendar. Upon arriving at Alcona Health Center Dental Office at 11:45 a.m., yes, I was running late, but still on time for my actual appointment. I was greeted by the front desk person, Tonia, with a very rude and unhelpful attitude. She rudely asked me my name and then proceeded to state that I was going to have to reschedule. I responded by saying, "Really? I got a text reminder saying that my appointment time was at 11:45 a.m. and my arrival time was at 11:30...???" I pulled the text up on my phone and stated, "Yes, here it is." Tonia then said, "Nope, you're going to have to reschedule, you're too late for your appointment." I was confused about how this could be happening, but was not angry or rude. Tonia then asked me if i wanted an appointment toward the end of June and I replied, "Yes, that will be fine." Tonia then filled out the card and handed it to me. I said, "Thank you." And Tonia said... NOTHING, she did, however, shoot me a dirty look. I just looked at her quizzically and then left. The whole staff at Alcona Health Center have ALWAYS been extremely courteous, competent, professional and friendly, with the exception of Tonia. Alcona Health Center Dental Office, you can do better!! Please hire an individual who doesn't let their personal opinions and/or issues affect the way they treat your patients upon arrival at your facility. Thank you.

My Appointment went very well. People were very friendly and worked hard to make fillings go smooth, and my partials fit perfect!! Thank You to all the staff.

EDIT 4-21-22: Talked to the "manager" a little while after initially leaving this review. I have never heard a thing back from her. The one star will continue to stand. This is a review of my recent experience only, not their level of care. As far as that, they do a great job. I read long ago that teeth are luxury bones the poor can't afford and that truly hit home when I arrived for my appointment on the 16th of December. I had a few teeth filled my last time there and unfortunately they have cavitied and I need them out. The pain is excruciating and I called the center since they're the ones who did the work along with pulling a few of my teeth. The person who called me back gave me several options and I chose the 10 o'clock option, which was wrong it was actually 930a, and said we'll see you when you get here. No cost was stated to me on the phone and I was ecstatic. I get there and I'm told since it's been so long I now need to pay 115$ for the cleaning. I knew it was only going to get more expensive as it went. I said ma'am, I literally don't have that. I spent my last 5$ in gas to drive the hour down here. Plus, literally my whole job just got laid off. She then tells me to just get insurance and try to come back. That's rich. Let me just fire up the insurance machine and spit some out. If I had insurance I would neeevvveeerrr ever come back to this place. Now I get to suffer the inability to drink a hot or cold drink, unable to enjoy food from the pain, and general discomfort just breathing. My time and last dollar could have been saved if cost was mentioned in the initial phone call. Thanks. 🙄

I just want to say that the staff are all very sweet and the experience is like going to a friends house more than a dental office! They make you feel relaxed and very welcomed there. Thank you girls and I look forward to seeing you all again! I can’t believe I just said that about a dental office but it’s the truth!!!!

Alcona health center dental is amazing They seen me short notice with out a appointment for a emergency visit. Everyone was polite and super nice I will be waiting just to go back and see them .... thank you again
