Well taken care of. As a new patient to Deerhaven Family Dentistry, I was just a skosh nervous. The unknown and new everything awaited me. That nervousness quickly gave way to a sense of calm. From that moment on, the cedar log design and decor put forth an impression of comfort usually reserved for the lobby of a five-star hotel. It gets better. Lovely materials and architecture aside, the staff makes this office shine. From the first moment of walking in, I was greeted with a cheerful greeting from Savanna. As if it was second nature to her, she set forth such a positive first impression that I was assured that I was in the right place at the right time. She laid the foundation that I was welcome and belonged. Within minimal wait time, my name was called by Jen. She immediately put me at ease as we walked and genuinely talked about the casual things outside of the building like weather, snow sports and what to do with limited snow. We arrived at our destination and I found my chair and sat down. The room was clean, orderly with engaging artwork with Northern Michigan artifacts furthering the feel of being somewhere other than a dentist office. The windowed view reminded more of a nature sanctuary with the views of evergreens, wild birds at feeders and a glimpse of sunlight peeking through the White Pine bows. Jen’s high quality evaluation, taking of films and explanations of her assessments were followed by Dr. Merrithew. His relatable yet professional manner further put me at ease. He was articulate and friendly and his understanding of this new patient confirmed my evolving impression that I was indeed in the right place. Nevertheless, I was in fact due for a cleaning. Haley then took the lead with the craft and precision of a well skilled hygienist. She had my teeth back to pearly white status in under an hour! Zero pain and zero wincing and all smiles on my part. Is a crown always that easy? I needed a root canal and crown. Was it pleasant? No, I’m not going to sign up for it every day! But I am a needle and dentist wuss and this wasn’t very bad at all. Thank you Deerhaven.

I had an excellent dental appointment at Deerhaven. Elaine did an excellent and efficient job of cleaning my teeth, X-rays, and diagnostic tests. Dr. Niergarth also checked me out and does a good job of only looking for any issues and not additional optional procedures.

Dr. Niergarth is hands down the best dentist my family has ever had. He's patient, compassionate, kind and very caring. All the Dental Assistants we've had have been great. The billing lady to the left when checking out is always kind and caring. Highly recommend Deerhaven!

Friendly staff, everything was on time. Did a good job.

I was greeted very professionally. They took my temp and asked 5 questions. I stood outside until my hygienist was ready for me. She had a mask on and there were air cleaners in each cubicle. I wore a mask to and from the door. I felt very safe.

We've gone here for over 30 years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. From checking in to checking out they have an awesome staff. So caring and compassionate. The doctors always make sure you're comfortable and never in pain at any time. We've recommended this office to many, many people and everyone has been amazed with this office!!
