I signed up for Nevada Dental in July. They have been one big disappointment to me. I was trying to get approved for oral surgery. My dentist sent referral requests to them 3 times and also faxed one and each time ND claimed they didn't get it. I started to disbelieve them so I picked up another referral from the dentist's office and took over to ND's office and they refused to take it and advised me to mail it. I used some colorful language with them and said that these had been getting mailed to them and they keep denying receipt and that I was starting to disbelieve them. I ended up sending this referral to them by certified mail and they approved my visit to the oral surgeon within a day; however, they refused to authorize surgery. In this last week my dentist sent them an emergency request for special referral because my husband needed root canal work because he was in a lot of pain in one tooth. They faxed it Friday. I called ND and asked if they received it and they said they had but that it didn't contain the name of the endodontist they wanted to refer my husband to and that they had called them but hadn't heard back. My husband suffered all weekend. I talked to my dentist's office Monday morning when I was over there for a checkup and they denied getting a call from ND so they called them and at first the person at the ND office claimed not to have received the request and the woman at the dentists office repeated what I had told her. However she still had to re-fax it and they still claimed not to have received it so she sent it again. They finally admitted receipt and admitted having received it the Friday before. The woman at the dentist's office said she didn't think the people at ND knew what they were doing. In the meantime, we talked to the endodontist's office and told them we would go out-of-pocket because my husband was in a lot of pain and wanted to get the job done so they made an appointment for that afternoon. I have had Nevada Dental Benefits insurance for several years now, and they have always been helpful in answering my questions about my benefits, and offering me many different choices among friendly, local, and available providers. As far as dental insurance goes, I'd say they are among the best. I highly recommend them if you need dental insurance.
