I can not believe that Dr. Butler still has patients. Looking back I should have sued him. I went in because I had some irritation with my toungue. He told me my wisdom teeth were infected and I must get them out immediately. Trusting him I had his office remove the teeth.
Following this the recovery took weeks and I got TMJ. When I went to have a physical done for the US Air Force they took an x-ray of my mouth and discovered that several pieces of enamel were still in the extraction site as well as ALL of the root tips. I had to have a second surgery to have the bits removed. To add insult to injury they, Jerry Butler, severed the nerve in the lower left side of my jaw and the left side of my tongue is numb and I can't taste to this day, 10 years later.

Dental work seems fine but the dentist (short fat guy) was rude and incredibly arrogant. This is the place to go if you want to get talked down to for no reason. Lots of options in Boone and I’m extremely dissatisfied I chose this place.

My husband went in to fix a broken tooth - he was happy with Butler, so I made an appointment for a cleaning because it's been 3-4 years since my last. I have good teeth, brush 2x/day and floss 2-3x/week; some gum irritation occasionally. I go in, he and his staff are very nice, they take an Xray. My only complaint is 1 filling I had done as an adult that has a rough spot - and has ever since I got the filling - he tells me after an exam that it's because I grind my teeth (That is also what he told my husband his problem was). Wrong, the filling was rough from the get-go. I also told him how I have problems with -caines that make my heart race - he told me he participated in a study that proves there's no connection with -caine numbing shots and heart/fainting issues. Strike 2.
Finally, he begins his gum probe - mind you, this is before the cleaning and I have never had the dentists examine my teeth BEFORE they were cleaned - and jams that probe as far in as he can so that he can tell me my gum pockets are in terrible shape with 100% bleeding. Well, of course there's 100% bleeding when you assault my gums that way. My gums RARELY bleed when I brush or floss. The hygenist then begins her assault which I'm convinced took off some of my enamel.
Then, when it's over, they try to schedule me for another appointment 2 weeks later to check the gums again. No. Thank. you. And flash forward 3 weeks later, my gums are still throbbing occasionally on one side. I personally think this guy jammed what tartar/bacteria I did have on my teeth/gums further down into my gum pockets by poking me before I had a cleaning.
I will not be going back there.

I had the pleasure today of being treated by Dr. Butler. I am visiting North Carolina from Florida and had a temporary crown break. Tracy, one of Dr. Butler's staff, quickly got me an appointment. Dr. Butler was extraordinarily thorough. He took his time to explain some other dental issues that became apparent to him. He gave me a comprehensive treatment plan to follow when I return to Florida. His fee was unbelievably reasonable. If Dr. Butler was practicing in Florida, I would have no hesitancy to switching my dental care to his practice.

Seems like the staff tried to sell my son and girlfriend on every treatment possible, with zero regard for cost, emotions, or personal past. Hell, the dentist even tried to recommend vitamin supplements. Seems like they are used to being able to take advantage of college students who have to call home and get everything approved by their parents. This place is sickening, the staff are rude, and all they care about is money, trying to get 2 visits out of a cleaning, and literally prodding my son's gums til they were sore for days afterwards. Never again

The best experience I’ve had at a dentist office by far! Would recommend to anyone
If you’re looking for a dentist in the area Dr. Butler’s office is your place. Dr. Butler and his staff are some of the most professional and helpful people you’ll ever meet. You can trust that they care about you and are there to make sure that your needs are met. Did I mention that they’re friendly?! Yes, no snooty employees who act like they have no time for you here. Folks, these people care and it shows! Patriotic too...they take care of our Veterans. And for that I wanted to say, THANK YOU! Much appreciated!

I and my wife, having recently moved to the Boone area, had our initial dental appointments with Dr. Butler, and can concur, and identify with, about every comment made by all of the other 1-star reviewers. We will not be returning for second appointments.

I went to Dr. Butler for extremely receding gum lines. He told me to brush my teeth more often and see if the gums grew back on their own. Receding gum lines are not reversible.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of mentioning that I get migraines, so Dr. Butler convinced me to get an appliance for TMJ. After using this appliance for 3 months and not getting any migraines, I tried to explain to him that a lack of headaches was not indicative of the effectiveness of the appliance since my migraines come in clusters. He told me "cluster is a phrase they use that means nothing". He then proceeded to tell me that how and where my migraines occur is wrong.
Dr. Butler was also extremely condescending and constantly referred to my "little hands" and "little mouth" - I'm almost 30.
The final straw is that he rarely used a mask when working in my mouth. If I could give him 0 stars, I would.
Dr. Butler's front office staff Tracie and Phyllis are very helpful. Dr. Butler is transparent about what his plan is for your dental care. I've gotten regular checkups, whitening, and SureSmile (Invisalign) here, all with no problems. I recommend Dr. Butler to everyone!

Thank you for taking care of my teeth and smile Dr. Butler. I appreciate all the time spent educating me on the correct way to take care of my teeth. Whether a client's questions are of a brushing nature or saving a tooth, you will find Dr. Butler answers straight forward, in "layman's terms" and if there are options, he will give those to you also. My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Butler for almost 10 years. He and his wife Lois have a friendly office with a most helpful staff who all interact well as a professional team. I would recommend his practice to anyone wanting confidence that he can provide the best oral care for anyones teeth and smile.

I’m a veteran that just moved to the area. Most Doctors of any kind usually pass on providing care to veterans because of the horrible hassle in dealing with the V.A. Dr. Butler not only took me in, but was the best dentist I’ve ever been to with a staff that’s miles above any other. They are super nice folks, and truly care about the individual. They go to great lengths to make you comfortable, and take care of any and every need that you have!

Dr. Butler was incredibly professional and seemed to genuinely care not only about my dental health, but my life in general. He always asked how I was doing in school and what my plans were after I graduated. During one of my visits I told him I planned on going to law school and he offered to put me in contact with his son, who is an attorney, for some great law school advice/input.
On my first visit he noticed my bite was messed up and as a result of that my molars were wearing down way too quickly. He told me I needed braces and I told him that I had, in fact, had braces for 3 years. He asked who my Orthodontist was and he called him up that day to tell him he needed to re-fix my teeth because the job he did was not sufficient!!!! I've seldom met any other healthcare professionals that would go out of their way to help out a patient like that. He is truly a one of a kind stand-up guy.
I would highly recommend him to anyone in the Boone area looking for a sharp, knowledgeable, and skillful dentist.
Its also worth noting that his prices are on the higher end compared to a lot of other dental professionals in the area but in my opinion, he is worth every penny and at the end of the day you get what you pay for! If you have good dental insurance then the prices are super cheap.
He is the closest/most convenient dentist to campus and there is more than enough parking.

They told me for years that I’d be able to get my wisdom teeth taken out at 17, but on my last visit, they said “they’re not even close to ready” going off of the exact same x-rays they had looked at when they said they’d make an appointment 6 months out to get them taken out. They also ignored my drug allergies and gave me medication I was allergic to *every time* my mouth needed to be numbed.
The receptionists are incredibly unprofessional. I went to Butler throughout my adolescence because I was covered by Medicaid and nowhere else in town would take new patients, then the last visit before I lost medical coverage the receptionists go on a rant about how awful universal healthcare would be... you know, the only way I would be able to be seen by a dentist in my adult life. I was then and still am years later, absolutely repulsed.
