Avason Family Dentistry

This may be a very good dentist but has Horrible office staff. From my experience this place is for the wealthy only. If you do not have cash they do not treat you. I went in for an emergency to have a tooth pulled due to an infection. They had my insurance card. I went in to the back was told it was going to be 900.00. I am thinking okay I have insurance. Then was led back to to the front. Then they had what seemed like a sales person at a car lot give me a sales pitch to try and get me to pay cash up front and apply for credit and I said for the third time I have insurance to check what my insurance covers. She said they have not heard back from them. I know from experience any office can call the insurance or send over the codes to be charged before any treatment.They did not do this. She then told me to apply for dental credit. I left the office in pain and upset. Went home called my insurance company. They said that they did not get a request from this office. I then called the office back and the girl told me it will take two weeks and I will get a letter in the mail to determine what my insurance covers. ( This is the most absurd thing I ever heard or experienced from any office)I hung up and wrote this review because if an office has this kind of ignorant staff I wonder to my self do I want any procedures dont at this office? I left a message with the office manager. The website alos claims they can use your medical insurance for certain procedures. That is incorrect. I asked them about this and was told they need to take that off the website because they do not do that anymore. The bottom line is be prepared for a sales pitch and pay out of pocket even if you have insurance or you dont get treatment.

Very nice, easy to talk to...straight to the problem and discussion of treatment plan...where did Dr Wolfe go?

I’m 61, so I have had my share of dentists and dental offices. This is, hands down, the best practice I’ve ever gone to. Every single person here is caring, knowledgeable, helpful. I have an extreme phobia of the dentist chair and as a result am filled with dread whenever I have to go. These people put me at ease and are wonderful. (PS- this is the first time I’ve felt compelled to leave a review somewhere.)

Had to reschedule my routine cleaning due to illness and was told that their soonest appointments were 6 months out. That is unacceptable.

Great experience, very personable, professional and helpful. They were upfront on honest about what I needed to have done, talked me through my options and what to expect. Goes without saying based on my comments above, i highly recommend Avason Family Dentistry.

Avason was very welcoming! The literature was spot on and very informative! The young lady who did the scans was extremely knowledgeable as well as the financial liaison. Dr Avason was so personable and nothing like any other Dental person I’ve come across!! Ever!! He took the time to get to know and understand and was a pure pleasure! Everything is done in the office no need to look any further!

I would rate this place as zero stars if it were an option! I scheduled an emergency dental appointment for my son who had a seizure and busted his lip and front teeth and the front desk staff didn’t have the decency to let me know beforehand that they did not accept my insurance. I canceled another dental office because I thought this place was closer to my home and would take my son sooner. The front desk rep said several times that the insurance was accepted and my insurance company has this dental office listed as In-Network. The office staff didn’t even call to discuss that there was a problem and that I may be charged with an out of pocket expense before I showed up with my children. The staff wanted to argue with me to prove that my insurance was Medicaid and never asked for my son’s insurance card to verify insurance. The staff is very unprofessional and did not have enough knowledge about insurance to know that Humana (a Federal insurance plan contracted with DenteMax) is not the same as Medicaid! The point is not about if our insurance is accepted or not! It’s about the unprofessionalism and uncaring attitude. In an emergency situation with a disabled person in need of care, no one had the decency to call and discuss financial matters beforehand.

The staff and Dr Avason was extremely super friendly they made my visit very pleasant comfortable.Im in need of more dental work and I definitely will be letting Dr.Avason and his team be my dental care takers. They were AWESOME

So happy to have found Dr. Avason and his staff! Recently moved to the area and was looking for a Dr. who could do more procedures in ONE office, and not have to send me to different specialists for things like extractions, periodontics, invisalign etc. In the last 6 months, I've had 2 restrictions, an implant and my cleaning. All went perfectly, I am happy to report and happy to share my 5 star rating ! I appreciate and Thank You Dr. Avason, and everyone in your office.

Dr. Avason and his staff are truly the best!

I have an extreme irrational fear of dentist, so I never schedule precautionary care. I found out I had a cavity, and on New Years the tooth cracked. I was in agony! After waiting 6 hrs on Sun. at Charlotte Emergency Dental, they were unable to help me. I called first thing Mon. morning to Avason, and they got me in within an hour. Dr. Avason and his staff are amazing, and did a great job keeping me relaxed. He got the tooth out in mins. Even it being the next day, there is very little discomfort. Thank yall so much!!! I highly recommend anyone to go there!!

Avason Family Dentist is first of all honest! This is why... I visited Waterside Dental last visit and was told my back molar was cracked and I needed a crown. I didn't much care for their teeth cleaning process (much like a water Pic only), so I went to Avason. After X-rays and cleaning I asked the Dr if my back molar was cracked and the answer I received was NO😲 Beware of Dentist that will invent costly and not needed repairs for their own greed!! For this reason... Avason Family Dentist will be our family's dental care giver!!😍

At first I said I don't even know where I am going but when I got there they made me feel like family all of them and the dentist. From out of town & took a risk going to a dentist with no personal recommendation & INCREDIBLY PLEASED with how we were treated here. Staff is kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Highly recommend.
