My medical experience itself was great. The hygienist and dentist were wonderful. My complaint isn't with the medical services I received, it is with the customer service. After receiving my claim from my insurance and learning that SHD was in fact an "out of network" provider and I was left paying a hefty sum for a routine exam and x-rays I tried contacting SHD over 3 days via phone and email. For three days no one answered the phone; not in the billing department or in scheduling. I, and my partner, left voicemails that were not returned. Finally, I had to physically drive myself to their location just to talk to someone. The receptionist that helped me, Greg, was very nice and helpful. He quickly sent me copies of my x-rays and helped me understand the provider/insurance misunderstanding. Now, while I understand my insurance provided me with fraudulent and outdated information, SHD also provided me with false information. At the time of my appointment, I was asked to pay up front. I had never needed to do this before, so being nervous to cough up that much money I asked the female receptionist, POINT BLANK, "am I covered by my insurance?" I was told "Yes, yes you should be" by the receptionist. I further questioned her: "How much am I covered for?" She responded, "Oh it doesn't say but it should be 100%" In the end, both my insurance and SHD mislead me into thinking this practice was an "in-network" provider; but I'm left holding the bill. Greg was able to tell me, immediately, without question, "we don't and have never accepted your insurance plan" so I'm not sure why the other receptionist wasn't able to provide me with that same information and danced around the questions.
All in all -- great medical service, but do your homework and be more aggressive with your insurance information before you cough up hundreds of dollars.

DO NOT TRUST THEM. As many others have said they are dishonest about pricing. They make you pay upfront, and won’t tell you how much your insurance covers but will tell you you will get a refund afterwards. Once you get the bill they’ll say you were out of network. There were mutiple dentists in network at this practice, but they stick you with the only dentist who isn’t?? Look at the one star reviews, this shady business has done this multiple times.

South High Dental has bad communication. I was told after my sons 6 month cleaning, he had 4 cavities. We get his 4 cavities done, now he magically had 8 more cavities. I was shocked and upset that I wasn’t told he had more cavities at that time. I when to South High Dental because it’s closer to my home. My kids will be going back to Fixari. Sometimes convenience is not always the best.

I received a text message and email notification of an account going into collections. Per the email, my account was 90 days past due, I have not been to this office in 1-2 YEARS. I have never exited South High dental without providing immediate payment upon completion of my appointment. I have received zero notifications prior to this of any outstanding balances. I was given 5 days to pay this account before it is sent to a collection agency having lifelong effects of a credit score. Meanwhile, I have tried to contact Jo Curtis regarding this issue to which I have received no response after 3 phone calls, an email, and several text messages. This is completely unacceptable business practice. Anyone conscious of the impact of a credit score should be outraged and avoid this office.

They’ll tell you they take your insurance, set up an appointment, then text you less than 24 hours before and say nevermind, we don’t take your insurance… it will all be out of pocket. Horrible. Avoid.

Good Morning!
I would like to personally thank Dr. Paulson and his team. I ate Breakfast this morning!!! I cannot remember the last time I did not hesitate to put food in my mouth!
My fear of dentistry pain has cost me in so many ways and the upcoming plan will be my 2nd extraction based upon my fear of pain and past experiences.
You guys are the best. That was the most comfortable appointment I have ever had. I am 59 years of age so that says a lot! I do believe I have found a new home. Yes you guys are stuck with me for the rest of my life. (smiles) Pun Intended
Thank you and your staff so much! I look forward to eating on the right side of my mouth as well. You have no idea how much dentistry can change a person’s life. I’m thinking the oral sedative and the care in numbing of my mouth prior to the root canal and crown was the secret to calming my fears of the pain.
I foresee a trip to Mitchell Ocean Club in my Future. I may gain back a pound or two but I can live with that!

The worst customer service experience I’ve ever had!
I needed a few of my fillings done so I had to have 2 different appointments so they schedule me with 2 different people, the first girl did a great job but the second one had my teeth hurting even after a month of having them done, they also have a weird color to it reddish/black not white like they’re supposed to be, they still look like cavities because of the color.
When I called I asked the receptionist to schedule me with the first girl I had she confused their with Second girl, she had told me that she shouldn’t have done my fillings because she didn’t have her license to perform that yet, when I asked her what does she mean by that, she tried to change the subject.
That was the first issue I had with them, then they going to bill me $82 for cleaning when my insurance always covered them they have never charged me until now, and now that I’m trying to pay them, it has been two weeks since I’ve been calling them back to back and they don’t answer their phones or return their calls, I left so many voicemails and nothing.
I’ll have to take time out of my day to go over there and pay since their website isn’t working for that and since they don’t pick up the phone or return any calls.
This is so inconvenient and unprofessional, I do not recommend this place if you want professional help and someone to answer the phone when you call.

I have been coming to South High Dental for 15 years or so. I have always had good experiences which is why I continue to come here even after moving. My most recent visit was a cleaning and Heather was amazing! She was friendly and attentive during the entire visit! Another perk at South High Dental is their offering of same day permanent crowns. It is nice to NOT have to return to have a temporary switched out when the permanent crown comes in!
The dentist office has not yet broke into my Top Ten list of favorite places to go, but it is a pleasure to see Dr. Paulson and his knowledgeable staff every six months! They make every effort for a relaxing and pain free experience.
