If you are thinking about getting orthodontic treatment at this facility, please take note of my experience. While Dr. Petersen is an exceptional orthodontist who provides personalized care and is attentive to my concerns and questions, the limited availability of his services is a significant drawback. He is only available at the office two days per month, resulting in a high volume of patients scheduled on those days. This often leads to follow-up appointments being scheduled past the recommended time and long waiting times for patients. My most recent appointment was canceled, and the next available appointment is not for another three months, causing a delay in my treatment progress. Despite this, they continue to accept new patients. Additionally, I have found it difficult to communicate with them as they never answer their phone, and in-person communication is required. In hindsight, I regret choosing this facility for my treatment and would recommend selecting a local orthodontist with more availability. I am giving them 2 stars solely due to Dr. Petersen's excellent care

Was given apparently **illegal** advice about taking Valium prior to the appointment that resulted in me being unable to be seen after multiple reschedulings over this past YEAR of trying to be seen for dental care. I was told my appointment was for an exam PLUS cleaning, and I have severe dental anxiety. I asked if there was someone there able to do nitrous oxide, to which they said they no longer had a hygienist on staff. I was advised to contact my doctor for a prescription of Valium to take prior to the appointment, which I did. When I was finally going in to be seen, after a couple reschedulings where they knew I would be taking Valium and NO ONE OBJECTED to this or told me it wasn't allowed... I had taken the Valium already, AS INSTRUCTED. While filling out the paperwork I was told apparently they could not see me, discuss my care or even accept paperwork from me because I was under the influence of Valium. Whoever advised me to take Valium apparently should not have done so. I was also surprised to be told the appointment was for an exam only, no cleaning. Which completely made the Valium effort pointless! I do not trust that their staff is properly trained on the legality of nitrous oxide alternatives and therefore this location is not a safe one to seek care.

Been waiting months for an ortho consultation. They cancel on me less than 24 hours from the appt. I’ve already made arrangements at work.
The dentist is nice but spent 5 minutes total with me. Want your teeth cleaned? That’s a different appointment, and will take months to book as well. What a joke. I’ll be finding a new dentist and orthodontist.

Excellent dentist and hygienist. Horrible billing department. I had a crown replaced. I paid up from for what was not covered by my insurance. About a month later I got a bill for over $700. When I inquired I was told my plan had a waiting period to cover crowns. I checked my insurance plan before I had the procedure done and verified there is no waiting period (Beam is the insurance company). From here I contacted my insurance company to see why the bill was not paid. They verified that my plan does not have a waiting period for any procedure’s. They stated that the dental office left out a lot of info in the claim. Such as the date of the original crown and a lot of technical info. I took notes and went into gentle dental and gave them the info that the insurance company needed and told them they just needed to re-submit the claim with the proper details of the procedure. Call me if you have any questions. A month later I get another bill. I went back into the office and waited an hour to speak to the office manager Cynthia that handles all the billing. Apparently she was looking for documentation to show that my insurance rejected the claim because there was a waiting period of the procedure to be covered. Cynthia Was not able to produce any documentation of this. Simply because my plan does not have a waiting period. She stated she would call my insurance company and re-submit the claim. A month later I got another bill. I called Gentle Dental 4 separate times and left messages for Cynthia to return my calls. Never got a call returned. I went into there office twice and was told Cynthia was not available. Today I received a bill from a collections agency that I have no choice but to pay to protect my credit. This is all a real shame because the dentist is great.

I had my braces done there 6+ years ago and the turned out perfect. My permanent retainer broke and called in September 2022 to schedule an appointment and I was scheduled in December 2022. I went to that appointment and they charged me $250 to glue my retainer back on which I though was expensive but I was desperate to get it glued due to the retainer making my gums bleed. I paid it and went in but they couldn’t glue it on because only the orthodontist glued it on not the assistants. The said they would give me a refund since the service was not done. I paid some in cash and some in card and still have not received a refund and it’s been since December. They scheduled me on March 1st and canceled again and moved it to May 2023. I’m extremely upset because my gums are bleeding and I have to wait another 2 months.

Dental Hygienist Mary was extremely offensive.
However I love my dentist and she’s not my hygienist.

The worst dental clinic I’ve ever been to!!! I’ve been trying to get a prescription toothpaste for weeks now. Gentle Dental sent the toothpaste to Rite Aid and when I went to pick it up, Rite Aid was going to charge me. Gentle Dental never pre-authorized it so it would be covered by insurance. When I called to ask why, they told me toothpaste is never covered by insurance, which is NOT true. I confirmed this with my insurance company. I had to tell Gentle Dental that the toothpaste has to be pre-authorized by the dentist first. Why don’t they know this? Now I have to wait for Dr. Henry to come back from vacation to get the correct prescription. They said he’d “figure it out” when he gets back because they never usually do things like this. Yeah, it’s very apparent that none of them know what they’re doing, and they always have plenty of excuses ready for me. Why on earth would Dr. Henry prescribe me something I have to pay out of pocket for in the first place? That’s why I have insurance! This whole experience has been so incredibly frustrating and unnecessarily complicated. I am VERY unhappy. Also, they NEVER return my voicemails or update me about anything! They say they’ll call me but they never do. Super unprofessional. Also, Cynthia the manager is EXTREMELY rude! She has a very nasty attitude, I don’t know how she got hired. She even hung up on me. What a piece of trash. I will be filing a complaint with the dental board because this place REFUSED to have my toothpaste covered by insurance.

I would give them a 0 if I could. They made appliances for my husband that don't fit correctly. They won't fit because some of his teeth were broken off and they didn't make the proper adjustments. Several thousands of dollars and 2 follow up visits later we are back to square one.

Had to get a different dentist. This place has gone so far down hill with the rude phone calls and cancellations. They do NOT Care about their patients. Dr. Henry is a genuine guy but everyone else and since Dr. Flarity left is lacking big time. The final straw was cancelling my appointing with a chuckle at my displeasure, I had been rescheduled 3 times prior with months books out each time, a little genuine concern and compassion when someone is in prolonged pain having to wait month after month just to be told sorry we canceled your appointment yet again. I went to open door family dentistry and let me just say AMAZING place! They do fillings All in ONE appointment, multiple appointments available and a compassionate staff. Sorry NOT sorry I’m never coming back. Also note that they only respond to positive reviews and never comment back to the bad ones. (RED FLAG)

We got 3 appts in a row cancelled last min (2 the day of the appt) by the hygienist. The last one we received a dry phone call from one of the receptionists.. letting us know not only was our appointment cancelled but also she only had one option for us in terms of rescheduling, and it was such short notice (only 2 days away) at a time that did not work for us, and it was either take it or get booked months out AGAIN... Further more, they don't really explain things clearly and thoroughly regarding treatment plans going forward. This has left me feeling uncertain if I am in good hands or not. The staff (although friendly for the most part) seem like they're just going through the motions rather than coming off as genuinely caring.. it's kind of a stark contrast to our new dentist office, which we are very happy with.

Rude staff, rough treatment. Got a filling redone and it was worse after they worked on it. Went back in and they told me that was just as good as it gets. They’ve canceled appointments for no reason and with a multi month wait time that’s pretty inconvenient. They take ohp so it’s basically the only option for a lot of people.
If you can go elsewhere, do that

I saw both Dr. Corbin Avey and dental hygienist Taylor, and they were both excellent. Dr. Avey saw some actinic keratoses on my face and asked if I was under the care of a dermatologist, and Taylor gave me the most thorough cleaning I've ever had in my 73 yearson the planet AND discovered a cavity on the back of a rear molar that was not really even visible on the x-rays! These guys are the real deal!
So don't even try to go here. Here's my story. Made an appt months ago to be seen this Friday at 8 AM. They called and left me a voice mail yesterday (three days before my appt) telling me the dentist canceled my appt and to call back to reschedule. (I still have this voicemail.) Now first of all....you will notice in these reviews that they generally ONLY respond to positive reviews. That should be your first red flag. When they should focus on making it right with unhappy customers. Second, anyone reading this just give this a try.....call their number. The message will say if your a new client press 1. That'll take you straight to a loud call center. OR press 2 for existing customer which will ALWAYS take you to a voice mail. Don't even bother leaving a voicemail. I left four. As a lot of folks have in these reviews. Noone will ever call you back. Ever. When I spoke to someone in the call center (again, because i pressed 1), she tried to reschedule me for four more months later after I already waited two months for the appt they canceled on me! I asked if she had anything sooner. She then put me on hold for over 15 mins, came back on the line to tell me she was "transferring" me to the supervisor who could help me. (I didnt even ask for the supervisor) Except all she did was transfer me to the voice-mail you get if you press option 2. Noone called me back. Ever. I called Willamette dental. They were extremely nice, I talked to a live person. Got an appt for tomorrow. It's unfortunate they treated me and others it seems like this but again, they don't seem to care about making things right. Just ignoring all situations.

This morning I called this office 7 times, the first 6 calls went to a message asking me to leave my name and number and they’d get back to me. The 7th time I called, a man answered the phone, apparently he was from the main office in Portland’s call center! He was not professional at all, trying to tell me I needed an exam and X-rays before they could diagnose what was wrong. He then put me through to the actual office where I was told that they were too busy to see me, they had 3 full rows of patients with only 1doctor and 2 dental assistants!! I reminded her that they advertised same day appointments and emergency visits!!!!!!!
While eating last night my lower front crown, #24, came off. I needed it recemented, it’s right in the front of my mouth so it is very visible. I worked in a dental office for about 43 years ( started when I was barely 16), I would never treat a patient in that manner. I’d do anything and everything to work that patient into the schedule!
I would not recommend this office for your dental treatment!! Keep shopping around, get a referral from a friend or family member first. They advertise things they don’t offer, if their schedule is booked, full, don’t count on getting an appointment that same day. Unprofessional phone etiquette and all around attitude!
KEEP LOOKING 👀 for a DENTIST 🦷 🦷🦷👣
NOT A GENTLE DENTAL OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! emf

2 stars due to old staff. I began coming here in 2015 the staff was wonderful Heidi was my hygienist Nima my doctor. Wonderful duo so kind gentle was the way they were through and through. They calmed every nerve every doubt and did so very graciously. New staff is nothing Like this. Unfortunately the new hires seem only concerned with pleasing the Dr. catty beyond belief. I miss my old Dr.
