This office is perfect if you want to have a beautiful and healthy smile. Dr. Zachary is very good at his job. He does his job perfectly. He has empathy for the patients. Trust me nothing will hurt you because he will find a way that you won't get hurt at all in whatever procedure you have. He will make you feel comfortable in his chair. The assistants are perfect, the secretaries too. Anyway, he is an excellent dentist. do not hesitate to visit them. recommended 💯 Also the office is beautiful and very clean.

To be matter-of-fact about the ordeal I never had an issue with my insurance benefits, the limitations of my dental insurance or co-pay portions. I had a procedure completed that was listed on the dental plan I received from your office with a price listed. The day of the procedure I paid a different price which I didn’t realize until after I left your office, I called to ask Susan why the difference she became aggravated and very short with me and stated she could not tell me about anyone else’s insurance she could only tell me about my insurance and that my insurance didn’t pay the entire amount due for the last procedure. (If that was the case I never received any notice from your office.) Well I didn’t ask about anyone's insurance. Then she asked could she have a number to call me back, I stated no I’ll call you back. She did call back and have the audacity to give a half-baked apology for being short with me due to your office being shorthanded. Even after this incident I decided to come back as I said previously I thought you and Susie were awesome. But after the last visit, and six months of contemplating on giving my money to an office that apparently could care less and your response to my review and reading your responses to the reviews that were dissatisfied with your office (They seemed a bit on the unprofessional side of things.), yes the route I’m taking is with a new dentist.
Additionally, there are multiple reviews concerning Susan aka your Mother-in-law’s negative actions on Google and Yelp. So, I did not imagine her non-customer skills behavior.
God Bless…
Yes, Dr. Johnston is amazing, Susie the Dental Hygienist is also amazing. Unfortunately, I have decided not to return due to Susan who is the receptionist/Insurance Specialist (allegedly) aka Dr. Johnston's mother-in-law, she apparently has no idea what customer service is in this day and time when the city of Memphis is full of dental offices. The one star is for Susan and if I coul

I can not say enough positive things about Dr.
Johnston and his practice. The staff is
professional, friendly, and caring. Dr. Johnston quickly
addresses issues, in a cost effective manner, that are
tailored to meet the patient's needs. I have been going
to him for years and will not go to anyone else. Susan
and Tonya are the best also. I highly recommend Dr.
Zachary Johnston, DDS to everyone!

Zach was great. The tech who cleaned my teeth was great. CDC guidelines still recommend everyone wearing masks in dentists offices at all times other than while receiving care. That guideline wasn't followed. I also did not feel comfortable with Susan's attitude. Overall not a bad experience, but not quite as good as I had hoped.
As an individual who likens dental offices to places like Guantanamo Bay, I have to share that the experience I have had so far with this office has been superb. If you are like me and have a phobia of going to the dentist, please read further and I hope it helps you get the treatment you need. I put off going to the dentist for most of my adult life. I had very bad experiences growing up and let my dental health deteriorate. This becomes a vicious cycle because you will put off going more and more as your condition worsens.
From my initial phone call with Kelly, I got the impression I was dealing with compassionate human beings. She had a great sense of humor. I asked her if they were going to make fun of me and she said, "Well not about your teeth..."
My first dental hygienist was Melissa and she was so nice and non-judgmental. My first check up went very smoothly even though I was completely stressed out being there. She was very reassuring in everything she did and worked with patience and I believe an understanding of what I was going through mentally.
After that, the dentist Dr. Johnston came in to introduce himself and go over the findings of the exam. My impression was that the doc was very friendly, but I also appreciated that he had a somewhat direct delivery of information to give me. I was also reassured that I was not a lost cause, and there would be hope for me as I followed the treatment plan.
I had one follow up a few weeks later which was a couple hours of dental work. Just like Melissa, the hygienist Tonya was equally as kind, professional, and skilled. They did the work fairly quickly (I think) and I already feel so much better about where we are going with my treatment plan.
Susan, who I believe is the office manager, was very patient and thorough explaining charges that I would expect in future visits. She is obviously a super nice person who has experience in knowing how to communicate with patients. I appreciate knowing up front costs goi

Super nice staff and very professional. I got super lucky that this was my first dentist I visited when looking for a new one. I went in for a cleaning and I needed some additional work done. They worked me in on the same day and have follow ups scheduled. I can't see going to any other dentist as long as the staff remains as awesome as they are now. Super highly recommend this group of folks.

It was honestly a bad experience the old lady receptionist was very rude. At first when i got in she was already rude to me. I was late 5 mins cause i just got out of work and rushed there... i know i was late for 5 mins but she started being rude to me... and treated me like beneath her... 2nd My problem was not addressed i went home i still feel uncomfortable with my tooth... I asked for a copy of my xrays and i was denied of it. She even asked me why... This was the old receptionist... Its actually none of her bussiness cause its my scan... What about my rights!!! She said they dont give out copy even if its mine and told me if another dentist will ask for it then they will email it. But i wanted to see it for myself... Its like i dont even have the right and felt violated.
In regards to the drs reply a yr ago after i went there i went to see another dentist and well infact i had to do a root canal. Then i got better... and as for the old lady that was the rudest person ive ever seen, your saying thats shes a human being and to treat her with dignity and respect??? Hey im a human being too and im the one that was not treated with respect and dignity there i do have a family and kids too!but i was treated badly by that rude receptionist will never ever forget that... and what are you saying that i was told that it can be emailed to... i wanted a copy and i was denied of it what your receptionist told me was you can only email it to the clinic if im going to have a 2nd opinion... she said she cant give me a copy only the dr that will see me... ridiculous... its a violation of my right so now dont twist it and say i was told cause i was not. But denied of it.

I felt inclined to leave this review immediately as I left my appointment today. Let me start my saying that Dr. Johnston and the majority of his staff have always been charming, helpful, patient, and most importantly kind in my experience. My most high praises to Kelly!!! Dr. Johnston literally always comes into to see me and check my work before I leave no matter who helped me and it is greatly appreciated. However, on more than one occasion my illusion of a perfect visit has been broken by Susan during my checkout process. It concerns me that this has been such an issue that I've really considered using a different dentist just to avoid the negative energy. I felt very disrespected during my checkout process today and don't know if I will be back after this. Regardless, I am leaving a 5 star review because I literally love everything else about this place and hope to continue to be a patient for a long time to come.

I had a appointment there last week. The staff are very Racist toward me and my family as they wait in the waiting room. Then they did not use my insurance I had, I guess they needed my money that bad. We will Not be returning back to these ignorant people.

Zachary Johnston seemed like a fine dentist. His dental assistant was great. If you give them the money they want instead of just what you're responsible for, you may have a pleasant experience. *But* should you discover a discrepancy in billing, be prepared to be misled and experience a complete turnaround in how you're treated—to the point of hostility and defective dental work.

I broke a crown while traveling and used my very good dental insurance’s provider search to find a dentist. They directed me to Johnston and estimated less than $200 out of pocket.
At my first visit (everyone was lovely then) staff was astounded by my "great" insurance. While I was in the chair, I was approached by Susan, who said they believed my insurance had a clause that would not cover my crown and gave me an estimate for the care plan with the crown exclusion: I was to pay half that day (more than $500 toward more than $1000, astronomically more than insurance predicted), and half due on my third/final appointment. I needed this done and it was clearly labeled an estimate I believed I could look into, so I paid that initial payment and awaited insurance’s response to the claim between my next appointments. Susan gave me notes to care for the temporary fix between appointments and a number to call if I have problems outside of their business hours.
The second appointment was fine.
Between my second and third appointments, I received two EOBs. They showed my patient responsibility to be near the same amount Delta Dental initially predicted: less than $200. They also clearly stated: Participating dentists have agreed to charge the patient only the amount indicated as the patient's responsibility.
I had an upcoming appointment where the estimate included an additional $500+, so I wanted to figure out what was wrong here. I called and emailed Delta Dental. I made sure Delta had paid Johnston and asked about the amounts in the EOB. I learned my crown was covered by my plan (frequency

Dr. Johnston and his staff are excellent. I am always greeted so warmly and love everyone here! The staff are professional, well trained, and give excellent care. Could not ask more from a proactive dentist who cares so much for his patients! For those who aren't satisfied, good riddance. More available times for good patients to see an excellent dentist and his staff!

Dr. Zach has always gone above and beyond to make sure my visits to his office were pleasant. He has made sure my teeth are strong and healthy, but he has also been able to help me with cosmetic dentistry too. The icing on the cake is that when I visit his office, I have two if not all four of my kids with me. He and his staff are extremely patient-and in fact wonderful!- with my kids. My kids are not scared to have their teeth cleaned, and they all love going to see Dr. Zach! We drive 40 minutes (and past lots of "corporate" dentist offices) just to use this office!

The best dentist in town. Period. I refer all my friends to Dr. Johnston! I'm a problem patient--you know, the patient who hates going to the dentist but has a million dental issues--and he patiently deals with all my quirks AND is able to oftentimes fit me in quickly when I inevitably chip a tooth before a big event. The best!

Having received slapdash, lazy treatment from the previous tenant of this practice, Dr Johnston was an incredible upgrade. His professional, friendly demeanor and skillful work has given me the smile I've always wanted. I recommend his practice to all of my friends, many of which are equally happy customers. Best dentist in the city.

"Dr. Zach" and his staff make going to the dentist fun for my 3- and 5-year olds. Quick, efficient, and kind, they help the kids want to practice good dental hygiene and feel safe in a really weird situation (having someone else clean your teeth). He did a great, tiny preventative filling for my 3-year-old that was painless and prevented a more serious future issue. Also...there are toys. Oh, I go there, too, and he does the same for me as for the kids (minus the toys).
