Was very nervous about my procedure today but Dr. Utterback and his staff made everything comfortable and understanding. They were able to work with my hectic schedule, they broke down costs so i could understand, the receptionist was amazing at setting up my appointment and my dental assistant was a total sweet heart! Thank you so much making today as easy as possible! I would definitely go back!

This is one of the best run clinics in Tidewater. Never had to wait long and everyone is very friendly. Many people avoid the dentist but they’ve always taken great care of me there, so I leave with a smile.

Very professional and caring if their patients

I have been a patient for over 6 years and I have nothing but great things to say about the doctors, staff and quality of service. They have repaired or replaced several very old filling and crowns for me. I chose them randomly when I moved to VA Beach in 2013 because they offered CERAC and they were close to home and work. That random choice was one of the best I have ever made. Thanks for the great treatment.

I always have a good experience with all he staff and Dr Sweeney. I throughly recommend this practice for your dental needs. My hygienist Diane is terrific !!! She always considers my sensitivity to cold air and water and takes her time The same with Dr Sweeney she always thinks of my comfort and explains everything she is doing so I know what to expect. I was one of those people that was afraid to go to the dentist and would put it off. Since going to this practice I have lost my fear and my dental health has improved considerably

Don’t think I’ll ever switch dentist! I’ve been coming to this dentist since I was very little. When it comes to my teeth or mouth I get severe anxiety, and this dental practice has been the most comforting place for my dental needs. When I was younger and we first moved here from Guam, my mom had taken me to this dental practice near Oceana that my aunt use to go to as a kid. We gave them a go, long story short, I bit my dentist’s finger because they weren’t very comforting! Haha. I’ll never forget that place or the time they had to literally strap me down because I fought so hard to not let them touch my teeth (they had parental approval of course), I don’t think my mom saw that coming though! 😆 Anyways, we found this place and Dr Sweeney was always very sweet and comforting. Growing up, my canines were high up and in front of my other teeth, I’ve always had an overbite and small jaw, I’ve needed multiple teeth pulled at one point in my child hood because my jaw was so little with no room for my big girl teeth. When I was about 17 or so, my dad had another dentist and eventually I went there; once for a cleaning, and then another time to have some teeth pulled prior to getting braces and they completely terrified me. Talk about reliving the terror of your childhood! The techs and dentist there were very social with each other, to the point that I was highly afraid they were going to remove the wrong tooth or stab me during my cleaning. The dentist kept looking at his coworkers and laughing it up and joking around and I couldn’t do it anymore, so I told my mom I wanted to go back to Dr Sweeney after all of that. I got braces (shout out to Zaki Orthodontics - woot woot!) and went from there. I am now 25 years old and still see Dr Sweeney, who still remembers when I could barely fill in the dental chairs there. 😊 All of the staff at this dental practice are amazing and kind hearted! RIP to the original Sammy - he is forever missed! 🐶🐾 Sorry guys, he was the best part of the dental visits growing up! All in all, if you want to know you’re being truly cared for when it comes to your dental needs, Sweeney Utterback Dentistry is the place to go! Everyone under their roof is amazing, talented, kind, and friendly. Take it from the woman who was once the frightened child who had horrific dental experiences, you wont regret it!

Treated like family, they don’t “up-sell” and push you to do anything until it’s actually needed. They know me when I call, without benefit of caller ID. I went to another dentist who’s office would cold call on Saturday, you REALLY need to have that filling re-done, it’ll fail at any moment. That was at least 5 years ago, the filling is still fine!

I happened on This Dentist thru Google Dentist near Me... I was in a lot of pain over a weekend from 1 tooth that was throbbing with every beat of My heart!!!! They worked Me in and within about 30 minutes I was done and the Pricing was actually lower than I thought... They were Very Kind and receptive of the pain I was in.. I highly recommend Sweeny Dentistry to everyone... My prior Dentist was younger and a bit cocky. I didn't feel as comfortable with My Dentist before as I did at Sweeny Dentistry.. Thank You,, Dr. and Staff.. Very Nice and comfortable...Thank You,,, Davan M. Jenkins..
