Southhill Comprehensive Dentistry

I have had extensive dental work done in both San Francisco and Seattle and will say that South Hill Comp. Dentistry is absolutely the best by far. I am someone that is very apprehensive about visits to the dentist, however after my first visit I felt at ease and actually looked forward to having much needed work done to my teeth. The entire staff completely exceeded my expectations, set my nerves at ease and made the experience not only tolerable but enjoyable. The entire experience from reception area staff to work completion was wonderful. Is it possible to say a visit to the dentist is wonderful? My answer would have to be a resounding yes! I would very highly recommend Dr. Vargas and his entire staff to anyone looking for a dentist of exceptional quality.

I came to Dr Vargas after seeing my other dentist every six months for a couple of years. He told me that I needed a ton of work done including 10 cavities, which would be like $500 after insurance. He also told me that my teeth cleaning would be about $200 out-of-pocket after insurance. That didn’t seem right to me so I went to my old dentist back in Idaho and not only was my dental cleaning completely covered but I didn’t have any cavities. He was nice and so was his staff but I don't trust a word they say now. It's very sad that they would do that. My old dentist was even looking that the same x-rays Dr Vargas had!

Loved my hygienist, Lupe, who was gentle but thorough and gave me great advice on brushing to improve my gum health. Dr Vargas is always so patient, reviewing my x-rays and explaining my future dental plan.

Comfort and trust. The first words that come to mind after my visit for a fractured tooth. Seriously, comfort at a dentist office? Yes! Dr. Vargas worked very hard to save my tooth and even though I know it was difficult, what I experienced as a patient seemed like it was effortless. I was at ease the entire visit. I can't describe the sense of relief that brings. Not only is he highly skilled and personable, his assistants and staff reflect these qualities as well.

I had my 6-month appointment today. I followed Dr. Vargas from his prior office. It took a bit of research to find him but so happy I did. He is truly one of the most compassionate & caring people I know! His work ethic is stellar & his skills as a dentist are beyond compare. I give him a 10+. His staff is extraordinary!!
BTW - I have extreme anxiety about dentists & I have never left a review or had the confidence to recommend a dentist. But Dr. Vargas truly is the BEST!!

After my first cleaning at Dr. Vargas' office I already know I made the right choice. Everyone is professional and kind, and my teeth feel cleaner than they have in quite awhile. My last 2 dentists were fine, but now I see what they were missing! Dr. Vargas was very friendly and explained what he saw in my teeth very well so I understood exactly what needed to be done. The wonderful hygienist was thorough and easily accommodated my special needs due to a neck injury. I am very confident that my teeth are in excellent hands. I highly recommend this office!

10/10 recommend! Dr. Vargas and his staff are amazing. From the initial exam and cleaning to my appointment for fillings, I felt like my teeth were in great hands. All the staff were very personable and kind. I really appreciate the care I received, and how safe I felt in the office during Covid with all the precautions taken. I look forward to coming back!

5 star service all around. This practice is all about the customer experience and catering to your needs to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. I am extremely impressed with the professionalism of the staff, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re all very personable too. :) From start to finish, my experience here has been organized, simple, and personalized to me. I am so happy to have finally found a practice and dentist I can trust. And if you’re still unsure- go see them for a consult. You’ll see what I mean. This is the best dentistry clinic in the city. The staff is very friendly and competent. Dr. Vargas uses all of the newest technology and is constantly seeking new ways to serve his patients. I hate going to the dentist but this team helps make the experience very fine.

Dr. Shaw and all his staff were very professional and friendly with me and gave excellent options for the work I needed to have done. Including payment options as an adult cash patient, we found a flawless financial plan that worked for the both of us. Whenever returning for follow up appointments it was always very clean and the lobby area includes a nice little play area for children.

This doctor’s office was recommended to me by Phipps Gerald S DMD, MS who I am currently going to for orthodontic braces. I would highly recommend any individual in search of having dental work done at both of these doctors’ offices.

-As a final side note, Dr.Shaw is a big car guy and winter sports lover, so to speak it was an instant bromance at the first consultation meeting!
