I greatly appreciate all the precautions being taken due to COVID, but when the procedures are poorly or inconsistently executed, it really diminishes the value of the service.
Today I had an appointment at 445. I pulled into the parking lot as my car clock changed to 446. The three (!) texts I received from the dental office advised that they were doing curbside check-in. I had a cleaning appointment just a week earlier and so I was familiar with the process; after a few minutes staff will come out to me, confirm who I am, and then bring me a clipboard with pre-questions. They're rubbish at talking to people in the order they arrived, but I didn't care that someone got into their cleaning a minute earlier than I did.
That didn't happen today. Today I was ignored. For almost a half hour. Staff came out and talked with people in other cars but never bothered to come to me. Maybe it was because I took the last spot in the lot so those less able-bodied could have the closer spots to the door? Or perhaps my white SUV has invisibility powers that I am unaware of? After more than 25 minutes of waiting, I called inside and asked when someone was going to come out to me.
Abby told me that I was supposed to call when I arrived. I pointed out that the three texts didn't tell me that and I was there last week and didn't call. Her response: "Oh. We'll try and get the text updated." She then told me that they marked me as a No Show and also called the next patient to come in early. So there was a car in the parking lot no one visited and they didn't call me, either, but I'm a no show. And it was my fault for not calling even though the instructions do not indicate that.
As much as I loathed Forward Dental, they never wasted a half-hour of my time like Lakeshore Family Dentistry did.

I called (as a new patient) first thing on a Saturday morning with a toothache and they went out of their way to squeeze me in on a busy day. I was embarrassed that I hadn't seen a dentist in several years after moving from out of state, but everyone was so helpful and non-judgmental. I have since returned for a cleaning and will continue to come back - Dr. Emily Pohl is very thorough and my hygienist rocked!
