Dentists of North Glendale

Everyone is so friendly. I am so glad they take my insurance and that I found them. They are up-to-date on what is available for their patients. When I go to the dentist, I feel like I am with friends that care.

Dr. Mohammad Khakwani incorrectly identified a problem and unnecessarily recommended and scheduled a $4K+ implant procedure that was NOT NEEDED.

My face started hurting so I scheduled an emergency appointment at this office. I was able to get in right away with Dr. Mohammed Khakwani. I was there for almost three hours, and he hardly looked at my mouth. They took x-rays of one portion of my mouth, and after seriously a few seconds of tapping on my teeth, diagnosed me with a root problem that required either a root canal or an implant. After getting me pricing and trying to get me in for the root canal that same day, Dr. Khakwani inexplicably came back and said the surgeon was not comfortable doing the root canal, and that I actually needed the tooth extracted and an implant. He apologized openly for the change in plans. He was very nice the whole time, and I left thinking they were correct and I was glad they caught the problem.

I was never able to talk with the surgeon (endodontist) and was told the procedure was (paraphrasing) no big deal at all nowadays and I would just talk with the surgeon the morning of my surgery. The surgeon had been in other surgeries for the entire emergency appointment, including when the decision was made that I needed an implant. I didn't think anything of this at the time, but thought differently after digesting this news for a few hours that it seemed a bit weird to make the call I needed this extreme of a surgery without actually having the surgeon look at me and only looking at one x-ray of a small fraction of my mouth while actively performing another surgery.

I called my sister, who has had implants herself, and she acted horrified that this dentist suggested an implant procedure without thoroughly explaining to me the multiple number of surgeries it requires and telling me about literally any possible risks of the procedure. She basically demanded I get a second opinion because it did not seem right.

I ended up getting a second opinion from another dentist the next day. They x-rayed my entire mouth, spent a few minutes looking at my mouth, and showed me in a mirror that Dr. Khakwani must not have lifted my lip, because I had a very visible ulcer way up on my gums, and that was what was causing me pain. Gum ulcers go away on their own in a week or two. I never needed a root canal or an extraction and implant. The second opinion was only $75. The second-opinion dentist did agree that I do seemingly have short tooth roots, which is what Dr. Khakwani thought was the problem, but that a root canal would never be an option to fix that problem. The second dentist also said short roots don't cause immediate pain like I was experiencing, and short roots are only an issue if my teeth become loose, which they are very much NOT AT ALL. The second dentist said that at some point MANY years down the road I will MAYBE need an implant for the tooth but ONLY if it becomes loose, and it makes no sense to extract a tooth that is not loose and is completely healthy in order to get an implant. And again, the problem Dr. Khakwani diagnosed as causing me pain was incorrect, I had a very visible ULCER way up high on my gums.

It was EXTREMELY unethical for Dr. Khakwani to be so openly flippant on how large of a procedure a tooth implant is. It was unethical that he thought it was ok that I never talked to the surgeon until the morning of a surgery. It was unethical that he never fully explained the procedure or stated any potential risks of an implant procedure before scheduling me for one within the next week. IT WAS UNETHICAL TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM AND SUGGEST SUCH AN EXTREME TREATMENT WITHOUT EVEN FULLY LOOKING IN MY MOUTH.

I called immediately to cancel all future appointments Wednesday morning (my emergency appt was Monday). I was told I will still be charged for the fake tooth retainer they had already started making for the procedure.

DON’T GO HERE.

I dread the dentist but Dr. Le and his staff made the experience comfortable and they work fast. 10/10 recommend

Went here for an emergency appointment for a tooth ache and they were wonderful. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. The dentist was honest and explained everything very well. They made me feel very comfortable and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. They also have great payment plan options and are extremely helpful with getting you any help you need.

Thanks to Dentists of North Glendale my dental health is back on track. They accepted my Medicare allowance, which is an enormous help. Many dentists I contacted prior wouldn't even consider Medicare coverage. Thanks to Caitlyn and Zane, they contacted my Medicare insurer and I knew exactly what my plan paid before treatment. Dr Montgomery and Melissa (hygienist) were amazing. They took all the time necessary to make sure the procedures were done correctly, and to my satisfaction. And Jerome - fantastic. From x-rays & assists, to placing my bridge. He made sure my bite was right and comfortable. Thanks again for the care.

It was easy to check in, treatments and costs were all explained thoroughly and the fillings that I had done the day of my appointment were seamless with no discomfort.
