All I can say is that I really wish I would have read the reviews first. Dr. Blount pulled out my tooth and left pieces of teeth that fell out gradually over time. When he numbed my teeth so aggressively, he left the room so long he had to re num cause it wore off. I was in pain for almost a month. Then what was supposed to be a simple extraction was billed to my insurance as oral surgery and left me with a bill. When I inquired about it, I was given the run around with no explanation at all. I'm currently waiting on a call back from them for something else that was done to another tooth that isn't even worth mentioning! Just know I've been waiting on this call back for two weeks now. I'm searching for a new dentist now cause I won't be returning. My advice to you, keep searching for better dental services, no matter how long it takes! Good luck...

I came here to get my teeth cleaned before the end of the year because my regular dentist is out of town. I saw these reviews but took a chance. They got me right in! My wait time to get back was only 10 minutes and Dr Blount was professional and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised at my visit, may be tempted to come back :)

Very bad service. My appointment was at 9:15 am. Wait til 12 pm. I left. Was not seen by any one. This place mass schedule for people to come in and they just go from there. Bad customer service. Limited parking place too. Do not go here. They wasted 4 hrs of my time today.

Absolutely fabulous! It's been a very long while for me in upkeeping dental procedures for lack of insurance and my endless search to find a good, solid DDS I could feel 100% confident and safe in the hands of when it comes to trusting another to work in my mouth. A local practice. If you have Medicaid as I do, you well know the frustration and nearly impossible a task it is finding any doctors and specialists who accept Medicaid for their services! After nearly 40 dead ends finally, I found exactly what I'd been tirelessly trudging both Medicaid's outdated and grossly improper listing online, via phone with representatives, internet searches, even word of mouth to no avail. Somehow I came across Dentures and Family Dentistry, the office of Jimmy Blount DDS General Dentist. How good was that for me! I admit I was a bit nervous not having been referred and with nothing to go on regarding anyone's experiences so I white knuckled it knowing how much trouble and discomfort and pain my once million dollars smile my instant attention grabber was giving me. So, I took a chance. Boy oh boy did I hit the jackpot! This is why I'm moved to leave this honest, non-objective review based solely on not just my actual survival of my first visit however, because of my following two visits! The public needs to know so here it is on my experiences straight from the hip. Firstly, when I walked in immediately a calmness met me on the other side of the door. A basic, quite quaint and simple waiting room with a seemingly tranquil and serene very comfortable good vibration permeated the room. Excellent staff! Very pleasant, professional, efficient and accommodating with full knowledge in their craft in answering my many medically charged questions. Monica at the front of the house seriously knows her stuff with any and all things admin and insurances and the ways to get around the things or road blocks that insurance companies really don't care if you know or not. She's very qualified and quickly is able to give the necessary feedback and instructions on anything you may need to do that is not something she is privy to from her end. I was twenty minutes late for my first appointment because of the address in Gmap as what appears to have two separate addresses in which the one GPS gives can lead you on an adventure! Please note as a landmark if traveling HWY 278 from either direction you may want to use Piedmont Urgent Care on the west side of 278 as a marker for Cook ST as I didn't see any street signs for it. The office is just off of the corner of 278 eastbound on the opposite side of the highway almost directly across from Piedmont Urgent Care. Once you find it you will be able to spot it from the highway easily. Coming from town through the square get on Floyd Street then turn onto Mill Street headed towards Piedmont Newton Hospital. If I'm not mistaken Mill ST becomes Cook ST after 2-3 short blocks. It is a residential street that also has commercial zoning for professionals.

This was my first visit to see Dr. Blount. Even though my appointment was at 11am. I was asked to come back at 1pm. I decided to come back due to the fact it’s hard to find a dentist that takes my insurance. When he came into the room he was very pleasant and apologized for my wait. He even replaced a crown that had fallen off. The lady that took my ex-rays didn’t know what she was doing. So needless to say. I had to go through that again. Then I was told that I was not able to save my bottom teeth. That I would need dentures. Broken hearted as I was about the information. I called my insurance company to see how I could get my dentures approved. I called Dr. Blount the next day to let them know what they needed to do. I have been calling for over a week now. Leaving messages and finally even spoke to someone. She told me I needed to talk to Sonya. So I’ve called and left messages for her. Still no return call. So needless to say. If they can’t even call me back. Why would I want them to pull my teeth. Put in my dentures. If they can’t even return my calls now.

Two words UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNETHICAL. The office manager Sonya had th worst nasty attitude and lied about filing a claim wirh my insurance. Dr . Blount knocked out an Adjacent tooth attempting to repair a chip crown and apologize for the mistake promised to replacr t. Never did. After several visits to the office. Then he promised to compensate me. with check to have it replaced since I have relocated out of state. These were his spoken words to me. I inquired via phone and letter . He denied it.DO NOT TRUST!!!

Reviews are very important but I don’t base my overall decision around them. I go by my own experience. So here it is. Everyone told me I needed dentures but once I was examined by Dr. Blount he confirmed extractions were needed and partials would be the best route. We proceeded with doing the impression and scheduled my extractions. On E Day he made sure I was comfortable and started the procedure. I want to say it took about an hour and I was leaving with my new partials. I saw him the next day to see how everything was settling in and I was healing as expected. The Sunday after my extractions I developed an infection and put on antibiotics. Dr. Blount saw me a few days later to make sure I was on the mend which was comforting. Overall I personally think he’s a good dentist. I think with anything, communication is key.

I gave 3 stars because of the front desk. That is the first contact to seeing the doctor. The impression you give is how people will perceive the office and that’s not fair to the patient or the care provider.

Thanks to Dr. Blount taking the time to evaluate my son's mouth. He is now on his way to getting braces. My son has seen several dentist before and never was I told that he was in need for braces. In fact, I've been told that he wasn't a good candidate for them. Dr. Blount referred my son to the Orthodontist & after his exam they informed me that he needs them badly. I'm very pleased with Dr. Blount's diagnoses & my son loves him so we will be back.

I went to have some fillings done on Thursday, March 1st, and I had the worst experience ever!! Dr. Blount jabbed the back of my mouth aggressively, three times with the needle to numb my gums. He seen me jump and yell, and I know he seen the fear in my eyes. All he said was, "I know, I know." I cried my eyes out. He stopped and said, "That part is over. I'll give you a minute." Who treats their patients like this? Who jabs a needle in someone's gums like that?? I would recommend everyone to run far away from this office. Do not even consider to have him do any dental work on you! The office manager and receptionist are both rude, and have nasty attitudes. The office manager tried to justify why he did what he did. That was totally unacceptable. It's ghetto and unprofessional there, and all they are after, is taking your money. If you want A1 dental assistance, I repeat, DO NOT GO THERE!!
