Some of the staff can be very rude! I agree with another review about Kylie. Very rude and nasty! I hate dealing with her. They cancel appointments and reschedule them 2 months later. They’re the only dentist my insurance covers in my area that’s the only reason I’m still with them. if you can go please do so I would

This place has gone down hill. I have gone to three different dentists and they all told me this dentist messed up my crown and has a huge gap and is causing my tooth under crown to have a cavity because of the gap. They do not honor their work nor wanted to help fix it. Please do not go here.

I’m very disappointed with Associated Dentists in Merrillville. I recently changed dentist due to dissatisfaction with them. I’ve been told for several years that everything looks good after hygienist cleaned my teeth and dental exam. I am now with a new dentist and hygienist. I required scaling and deep cleaning. Also needed a crown replaced which had a large cavity. This might have been avoided if I was being examined correctly by dentist. What good are the X-rays? Aren’t they supposed to help identify problems. The reason I left was because I was tired of billing problems. Come to find out, I needed all this work done. Always calling to tell us that we owed deductible or had a balance. We did not. We always paid deductible on our first visit for the year. We would then have to prove we paid. I have faithfully had my teeth cleaned every six months. This should have never happened. I’ve paid, to date, $2200, to the new dentist and I’m not done.

I recently visited for a Zoom teeth whitening session. Great experience overall. Received friendly reminders about my up coming appointment and what to expect when I arrive. Very friendly staff all around. My dental hygienist Stephanie was very well educated on the product. Spent around 2 hours during the process. I’ve had some sensitive teeth in the past and was a little cautious. I couldn’t be happier with the results. She and the rest of the staff made me very comfortable and took very good care of me. Extremely happy with my experience overall. Definitely recommend.

This is the dentist my insurance chose for me. Called and got their voicemail, left a message, they never returned call. Used their website to set appt, they called to get info and said appt was not set. After setting appt with person, got call saying my insurance was not valid. Called insurance and it is valid. Called dentist back, they couldn't find where appt was set. Also said I wasn't on their roster. Had insurance call them and confirm insurance is valid and I am on their roster. Got a call from Kylie today saying insurance is expired and I'm not on their roster. Called insurance, policy is valid and I'm on page 7 of roster. Kylie is rude and incompetent. She claims she called insurance and got an answer in a couple minutes that I wasn't on roster. This is a lie. Insurance company proved this. I wouldn't trust this dentist to loan me a pen let alone touch my teeth. If they are this disorganized and incompetent with scheduling, can't imagine how bad they are at everything else. Don't go here. You'll regret it.

I'm not sure what happened to this place. I have been going there for 8 years. They were always very professional, had a very nice staff, a great and personable hygienist, and honored appointment times. They treated you like a patient. My most recent visit was the exact opposite. I don't know if it's because I no longer have dental insurance, or a change in their front desk staff, but I am now a customer. I was told 5 separate times what the cost would be before coming in. I made a 8AM appointment with them to fix a cracked cap. I was very clear when making the appointment that I needed to open a business at 9AM. They said no problem. We'll do the preliminary check to assess the problem. Then we'll schedule times to finish up. I left at 8:20 without being seen. I hope they figure it out. They have some good employees. Now off to find another dentist.

EDIT: After leaving the office I was contacted by their office manager. She was very apologetic, professional and made me an offer that more than made up for the scheduling mix up. I felt like I had in the past when visiting them and they were able to retain my business. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. It's how you handle them that separates a good business from a bad one.

I never wait an unreasonable amount of time. The people are kind. The receptionist is always pleasant. Cheryl, was funny and made me feel comfortable. Highly recommend Dr. Kmak.

Dr. Kirk and April were great I highly recommend seeing them for any gum/periodontal issues.
Great staff/ explained everything to me along with insurance coverage. We tried alternatives before deciding on a surgery. Easy scheduling and no waiting. I appreciated their candor and follow ups to make sure I was taken care of.

I have been going to this office for many years and would even consider going anywhere else. The staff is extremely professional and there service is second to none. Unlike chain offices, their chair side manner is not rushed and my treatment is always explained very well. If your looking for a hometown dentist with several years of experience, that treats you like a person and not a number, call them to make an appointment soon!

I love this dentist office and would never consider going anywhere else! Dr. Kmak is a great dentist. I got my teeth cleaned about a month ago from Cheryl and she was GREAT... The staff is very professional and organized. Highly recommend!
