Furrow Family Dentistry

I’ve always had anxiety surrounding the dentist. I just went to the dentist that everyone in my family has always gone to, but I was not having a positive experience. So much so recently that I decided it would be in my best interest to switch providers all together.

Today I went to see Dr. Emily and her hygienist Hannah for the first time at Furrow Family Dentistry and I couldn’t be more happy about my experience. They both were very knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that I understood. They were very attentive to my emotions and feelings the whole time. Empathy and patient care was top notch. I’m SO happy I switched to Furrow Family Dentistry and wish I would’ve done it awhile ago.

I recently had a tooth pulled and was pretty nervous, but Dr. Furrow made it the best experience I’ve ever had. From placing the anesthetic to ensure I was numb, to comforting me throughout the appointment, to going over the instructions for when I’m at home to make sure I stay comfortable. This is top notch care by all members of Furrow Family Dentistry!

The Furrows and their team are wonderful dentists and professionals! A few weeks ago they squeezed me in for an emergency appointment & found a badly cracked tooth needing attention. They were all very friendly, attentive, and caring!

Great Dentist! Takes time to talk to you and explains so you understand what is being done. If you’re not happy with your progress he will do what he can to make you happy. Great staff also all friendly and knowledgeable as well as Dr. Derek.

I was a patient of Dr.Swett for over 10 years, who the Furrows purchased this practice from recently. I was unsure if I would continue to travel to use this dentist office (I moved across town, but continued to travel for appointments with Dr.Swett). The transition of this practice was seamless! They had all my old records, knew which teeth we had been watching for issues, and had all past X-rays. Many of the awesome team members are T he same, and Dr Derek is always super nice and informative. I love the fact that this team won’t recommend procedures that aren’t immediately necessary, but always let me know what is going on in case I decide to be proactive. I will keep making the trip to this office because having a good team in care of my teeth/health is hard to find. It is worth the drive to go to the BEST dental office in the metro!!! Highly recommend Furrow!!!!

I went to Dr. Swett (the dentist who owned this practice previously), literally since I was born all the way up into my freshman year of college. Very happy he was able to retire and Furrow Family Dentistry is able to keep the practice going!

My home care declined after college for a variety of reasons so I hadn't been back to a dentist in almost four years. I had some nerve pain with hot / cold food, pressure pain when eating certain harder types of food, and in typical early 20s male fashion, rather than address the problem I changed my diet to avoid those types of food. But I knew I had a problem that needed resolved sooner rather than later.

I was nervous about being over-treated following such a long absence from professional dental care, and wanted to go some place I knew I could trust. While I was sad that Dr. Swett had retired (very happy for him, btw, he's the best and he's earned it!), I trusted he would've left his practice in good hands and from my visit it's quite apparent that Dr. Derek and Dr. Emily will be those good hands.

Dr. Derek answered all of my questions satisfactorily, they were able to show me on my X-rays where my problems were and potential problems were developing, and the major cavities that needed resolved were clearly visible thanks to a neat little camera they utilized so I had no question that the work was actually needed. They had identified four cavities and were able to fix them in one session the next week/ Three of thoseI was aware of previously and one was in an area I was experiencing sensitivity and they were able to get a picture of to show me the decay causing that pain. Two of my cavities were very visible on my front teeth making it look like I constantly had a piece of food stuck in them the way Dr. Derek blended the compound it looks like I just got two brand new teeth!

I also have a problem with needles and Dr. Derek and their assistant was excellent in communicating what and when they were doing things. And despite deciding to go without nitrous, I didn't feel anything more than some mild discomfort at only one point during the procedure (which in my mind just comes with the territory of something like this) as soon as I raised my hand Dr. Derek instinctively stopped what he was doing, asked me what was going on, and was able to apply an additional dose of the numbing agent before continuing.

I'm writing this the day after that procedure. I was expecting some pain / soreness but after the numbing agent wore off I've got absolutely no pain. Even less than when I went in for the procedure initially. And I'm not just saying that, goodness gracious, I didn't even realize how uncomfortable eating used to be for me. I was actually able to enjoy my breakfast for probably the first time in two years. Thanks, Dr. Derek!

Today was my first appointment at Furrow Family Dentistry, and my experience was fabulous. The check-in process was smooth and their chair-side manner was great. My experience was good, but when I got there found out my dentist had officially retired, not a word prior. I was under the assumption he would stay on a day or 2 a week/ or some minor schedule. Happy for him but a little disappointed.
