Deer Springs Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics

I NEVER write reviews but I had such a negative experience with this office that I feel the need to warn others. I got new dental insurance with my new job so I decided to make an appointment for my routine 6 month cleaning at this office as it was near my home and they took my insurance. Aside from not receiving the intake paperwork via email prior to my appointment as promised due to a typo (which I had to call twice to finally get fixed despite confirming it twice), it was an overall easy and pleasant experience. That is, until I actually met with the dentist to review my x-rays. He was not very friendly, and despite having regular cleanings prior, he informed me that I was in the third stage of gum disease which required a deep cleaning, as well as I needed two root canals and two new crowns which he pointed out in my x-rays. I was shocked to say the least given I usually make an effort to take care of my mouth and have had no issues for years. Then, he has a young lady from the front desk come in to review pricing with me, and she proceeds to quote me over $6,000 for all of this work, including over $500 for the deep cleaning alone even with insurance. I told her I was not in the position to pay for this and requested the regular cleaning I came for. She proceeded to tell me that “legally” they were REQUIRED to give me the deep cleaning given my diagnosis. I was immediately suspicious but almost went through with it before deciding to leave and obtain a second opinion first. My partner suggested his dentist office which he has had great experiences with - Thank you Smiles For Life! - so I requested copies of my X-rays and sent them over to them. At this appointment, I informed my welcoming new dentist of my experience and after reviewing my X-rays as well as new photos taken of my teeth, he told me he saw no evidence of any cavities and stated I did not even meet the criteria needed to qualify for a deep clean, so as I suspected he confirmed only a regular cleaning was necessary which I was able to proceed with at their office with no problem. Needless to say, I truly believe I was almost scammed by this office and I agree with other reviews comparing them to car salesmen as I have seen firsthand how they use scare tactics to try to make the most money off of you. I advise everyone to stay away and not waste your time and money, or the very least get a second opinion if they claim you need extensive and expensive work done.

The staff and Dentist here are pleasant. I have one concern though. During my 1st visit in August, they took x-rays and photos of my teeth. Dr. Lee explained that I needed a deep cleaning based on the x-rays.

During my 2nd visit on Sept. 15, 2022, a different dentist (I didn't hear her say her name) examined my gums and took measurements. She explained that I should be listening for 1's-2's-or 3's. She never went higher than 3 during her exam, and informed me that I needed regular cleanings every 6 months. With that being said, they didn't perform a regular cleaning at that time. My guess is that I didn't need a cleaning despite the last one, which was a deep cleaning, was done June 2021.

Professional, clean and great pricing. I went here as a second opinion and they also take my insurance. They were amazing from the front office to the Dr’s. Everyone was polite and professional. I just found my new Dentist. Thank you all for being amazing and solving my dental issues.

The initial first time exams and xrays were very uncomfortable and annoying. The entire process took a little over 2 hours!!! There was also a lot of wait time in between seeing the dentist. I had to request to see the dentist to start the cleaning. The office is 100% electronic and digital which has pros and cons to that process. The whole experience was completely different from any first time dentist I've been to in Michigan. I have to go back to have work done and because I might as well follow thru on this long process.

First off, I absolutely love my hygienist Jenni. However, this office is under new management and there is a lot of new employees including the entire front desk staff. Lets just say I dealt with very rude and unprofessional employees at this office during my most recent visit. My appt was just your basic x-rays and cleaning and I was there for over 2 hours. Don’t waste your time!

Special thanks you to Becky and DR Shem and the team at Deer Springs modern Dentistry. They did and amazing job on the husband root canal and crown and got us in before his birthday. The staff was very kind and they took care of us. Even let me keep him company so he can be calm. They were very gentle

First time at this clinic. Had a very good experience with Dr. Olivia Tsang. She was very professional, thorough and patient. She showed and explained to me my tooth ailment and the proper course of action for the treatment. I will definitely be back for more work as needed.

I just called this office for an appointment cause I told them that I have had a toothache all weekend and asked for an appointment for today, but the lady wanted to schedule me for next Monday. I want her to have a toothache for a week. Don’t recommend them!!!!

Overall my experience was ok but It seems that they switched doctors on me. I was suppose to see Dr. Adrian Lee but instead saw Dr. Tsang. I also had to wait several minutes before being seen even though I got there early, I was the last one to be taken to the back. On the positive note, the dental assistant was thorough about the pricing and they did offer a payment plan for those paying out of pocket. In addition, I felt that Dr. Tsang was a little pushy with me regarding paying for dental work I wasn’t ready to pay for. In conclusion, I believe that I had a decent experience but don’t think I’ll be returning for my own personal reasons.
