Excellent experience! I typically avoid dentist appointments due to a childhood fear that lingers still in my 30s but Dr. Maria Zara’s office made me feel comfortable and at ease. As a new patient I was welcomed with smiles and minimal wait time. The office is clean, well maintained, packaged and sterilized tools were used. Dr. Maria Zara took excellent care of me and was thorough in explaining my dental care. I’m so glad to have found a dentist I feel comfortable going to.

I’ve always have been terrified of dentists and this fear comes from having horrible dentists in the past. But Dr. Zara is wonderful! She is very kind and funny. The staff is friendly as well. Everything is very clean and sanitized. I highly reccomend her.

It’s a shame this place used to be decent but they changed. Dr. Zara damaged one of my teeth during a filling. She said there was a cavity, it never hurt until after she touched it. I went back a couple of times to complain about pain. She checked and supposedly didn’t find anything both times. She even had the audacity to tell me that I came back just because I like to bother her. So disrespectful!
I went to a different doctor and he said the filling wasn’t done correctly so he had to take it out and do it again. He fixed my tooth and the pain went away!
Needless to say that I haven’t and will not come back to this practice. They never even called me back to schedule my next cleaning and that was best because I found a better doctor. This happened a while ago but I didn’t have the chance to review this place until now.

The office is very clean with modern equipment. All the tools are sterilized. She uses digital x-rays for assessment. My family and have been going to Dr. Zara for years and always had a pleasant experience. She is very knowledgeable and gentle during every visit. MA

The last comment from Jonathan C. is very false. I’ve been a customer for Dr. Zara for many years and hygiene has never been a issue. She promotes good hygiene from the moment you step into the office. Hand sanitizer is available in the waiting room. There are posters all over that talk about hygiene. She uses a unique device and disposes right after is use for x-rays. All devices are sterilized after use. All dentist offices use the same device so his comments about being old is ignorant because all places uses. It’s the only device that can capture your x-rays with much details compared to smaller devices used for kids.

Overall, I’ve been to many dentists before coming here and Dr. Zara is wonderful. She’s very understanding, flexible and provides world class experience during every visit.

Scary & Unsanitary. My wife went there recently. (I'm writing this for her because her written English isn't that great).

She was so horrified by what she saw there that she actually started sending me pictures - while she was there! They did x-rays of her mouth and they put this huge clunky jaw bite thing in her mouth, like something from the 1950s, to keep her mouth in the right position for the x-rays. It was one of those large things you have to bite down on.

Today, modern dentists just put in a small square plate kind of thing on the side of your teeth for x-rays. (Sorry, I don't know the name of it. Maybe my English isn't so great for a medical review either!).

But the real problem was - this thing had been used previously by other patients... many times. There were teeth marks all over it where previous users had bitten down on it. DISGUSTING! AND there was DIRT on it. My wife has shown me the pictures (I wish I could post them here) because you can really see dirt in the cracks and crevices of this gigantic piece of plastic that they put in her mouth. So, there was dirt and tooth marks.

My wife complained and the hygenist said, 'no problem, we sterilize it after each use.' Well, it didn't look sterilized. And the main question is - why do they ever use something that goes in people's mouths ON MORE THAN ONE PATIENT!?

Dentists today don't do that anymore. Today, EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth is new and only used once. Except of course for the metal scraping tools and that kind of thing.

Just to give you an idea of how backwards this place is - they didn't even offer her mouthwash and water to rinse her mouth out after each procedure. Amazing, right?

From her description and photos, it was like going to a 1950s Soviet health clinic!

They also never asked my wife anything about her dental history. I thought that was standard - dentists (and all doctors) always ask about your history. But they didn't ask anything about it.

At the end of the visit my wife asked the hygienist if she could have a copy of her x-rays and the report that she wrote. The dentist, Dr. Zara, upon hearing this, ran over and demanded, "ARE YOU GOING TO ANOTHER DENTIST?" My wife said, "No, but I'm entitled to have a copy of my reports - I have rights, don't I?" And with that she grunted, "Yes, you do" and gave her the reports.

My wife did complain to them about the cleanliness of everything and you know what they said? They said she was just being dramatic and that no one else has ever complained about it before. Well, just because other people might be too uninformed to know better - isn't an excuse for unsanitary and substandard practices. Just because you've gotten away with it because your clientele is ignorant - isn't a justification.

Later, my wife went to a government-subsidized dental clinic and couldn't believe how much better they were. Everything was super clean, nothing like this antiquated device was used. And nothing was used on more than one patient (except the metal tools). So, just to put it into perspective, the government clinic was better than this private doctor.
