Fountain's Family Dentistry

Wow...I could write a 10 page review of this dental practice, so I will try to make it short.
I was referred to Dr. Karen Thompson by a pediatric dentist in the area and called to make an appointment with Dr. Thompson for myself and my daughter. We went to our scheduled appointment and found the office to be decorated quite nice.
Both my daughter and I wanted a teeth cleaning, and before we knew it, we were seen by someone who never introduced themselves and later realized that it was Dr. Jennifer McCabe, not Dr. Thompson. Within 10 minutes and lots of high tech pictures taken of my teeth, Dr. McCabe recommended that I have about $10,000 worth of dental work.
Having gone to a dentist back home for 20 years, I was shocked that she felt that I needed so much work. Interestingly enough, I could overhear another patient next to me being told that he needed significant work and it seemed as though he was surprised as well.
I was obviously concerned and sought a second opinion from a different dentist in the area. Though he did agree that I did need one tooth repaired, he definitely did NOT recommend messing with other fillings that seemed to be in good repair. He utilized the xrays that Fountains Dental took, though they were intitially resistant to providing them to me.
Though Dr. McCabe recommended significant reconstructive work, she never identified a small, visible to the eye cavity that I did have. Hmmm..guess a cavity isn't a high enough charge to worry about.
A few days later, I received a certified letter in the mail from the practice stating that Fountains Dentistry is terminating their relationship with me as they don't feel that I trust their professional opinion.
Can you imagine that, being fired from your dentist because of their oversell and lack of cavity identification.
Maybe if I would have been seen by Dr. Thompson as I expected, the trusting relationship may have been better.
As an aside note, my husband also went for a teeth cleaning and significant, but unnecessary work was also suggested as confirmed by another dentist.
So my advice...stay as far away from this practice as possible unless you want to pay a lot for unnecessary work.

It had been quite a few years since I had been to the dentist. However, I had a cavity that was visible to me. So, I considered several dentist in the Charlotte area (the Arboretum, Matthews, etc.) and decided on The Fountains Family Dentistry. Dr. Karen Thompson was very gentle and caring. She identified several cavities that needed attention and took care of them all on the same visit. I felt very comfortable in the chair while she was working. I believe she is a caring and competent dentist. I would recommend The Fountains Family Dentistry to anyone!

My entire family has always had a great experience at Fountain's Family Dentistry. We always feel welcomed by the friendly front desk staff when we arrive, and the office is incredibly warm and inviting. Dr. Thompson gives a thorough exam and really takes her time with me and my children. I would highly recommend this practice!

I have been going to Dr. Thompson for many years now. She is an amazing dentist, and I just can't say enough about her or her staff. I moved two years ago, and I drive an hour to get to her office because I know I won't find anywhere else that will be as awesome as they are.
The staff is awesome. They seem truly happy to see me every time I walk in the door.
I have seen both Dr. Thompson and Dr. McCabe, and I have to say I love them both. They've always been on time and very caring. Dr. Thompson's work has been amazing and I've been very happy.

I just wanted to thank the staffs of Fountain's Family Dentistry for the excellent work they did with my kids. I was very skeptical about taking my very young children to dentists, but after our experience at Fountain's Dentistry; my confidence is at another level. The timing was great, I called for an appointment and within minutes my appointment was scheduled. I have terrible sense of direction, and I called the staffs at Family Dentistry, and one of the staff members talked to me on the phone until I arrived at their location (turn by turn direction). The best part is that I did not even have to wait; my kids were seen within minutes of our arrival. The staffs at Fountain's Dentistry were very friendly, professional, and most of all, very good with kids. I was able to speak to the Doctor (Dr. Thompson) one on one, and she took her time to explain the process and different stages that my children will have to go through. I recommend Fountain Dentistry to anybody that enjoys quality work.

I am new to Charlotte and had heard that this was a great practice. I was not disappointed! The staff was incredibly friendly, both on the phone, and from the moment I walked through the door. I saw Dr. McCabe, who was not only warm and friendly, but was very straight-forward and honest with me about what I did and did not need. I was concerned about some sealants placed by another dentist that felt like they were coming loose; she reassured me of the ones that did not need to be fixed and fixed the one that did, on the spot and free of charge!

I also have never had a more thorough exam by a dentist; I am a health professional myself, so I was very impressed that she performed a thorough exam with an oral cancer check and everything...other dentists I have been to just do a quick glance, but she really spent time making sure I was well cared for.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this practice!

Dr. McCabe and her staff are very professional, polite and fun to be around. Tamara has been the most informative hygienist I've ever had, as she is really helping me better understand how to better care for my overall dental health. I would highly recommend this practice!

My experience here was awesome! The staff was very helpful and pleasant and Dr. Thompson did an excellent job on my dental work, explained what needed to be done and genuinely cares about her patients. I would recommend this place to anyone!
