I want to thank everyone working at DDS Luke's dental office for such a wonderful dental experience. I have been going to this office for dental work for at least 20 years with no complaints what so ever. My dental hygienist is one of the kindest persons you will ever meet (Ms Gardener). Thanks again everyone for all the professional work.

I had an appointment today, I was told to check in using a small laptop connected to the receptionist counter to update all of my information. I'm 6'3" this laptop is located around my waist, I couldn't adjust the screen to face up and the screen size is very small. It's a very nice office but they really need a better way to update personal information, the lady noticed my frustration and asked if everything is ok, I let her know about the laptop issue and all she could say was sorry. I told her to have a good day and I walked out. Personally I don't like being put in a physically awkward position when it's not necessary. I'm really bummed out, my wife is mad and I took off from work to get this done, I wish it would have turned out better

(Warning: Long post but worth it if you have Premera BCBS). I went in for a routine cleaning and x-rays on October 22nd, 2018. I had a great experience with the dental hygienist and dentist but had a horrible experience with the front desk about insurance/billing issues. I first received a bill for $500 after I went in which I knew had to be a mistake because the dentist was in-network with my insurance, Premera BCBS of Alaska. When I called the front desk lady she said my insurance claim was still pending and to disregard the bill. No apology or sympathy or anything for scaring me. I didn’t think much of it until I received an EOB from my insurance stating that I had to pay for the panoramic x-rays that were done which cost $149. I called my insurance and they said the x-rays wouldn’t be covered because I had them done 2 years ago and they only cover it every 3 years. She also said that is something the office should have checked. I honestly don’t even remember having those x-rays done because it was 2 years ago. I called the office and the front desk girl said for new patients they normally do everything including x-rays. I told her I didn’t think that it was fair for me to have to pay for these x-rays since they didn’t even bother to check my benefits and I wasn’t even given an option as to whether I wanted them or not. The hygienist just brought me back for x-rays during the cleaning so I assumed I needed them and that like any good dental office, they would have checked my benefits. I wanted to speak to an office manager but she told me she would out of the office until next week. The front desk girl then called me back to tell me that they’ve had issues trying to get benefits from Premera and Premera requires them to use an online portal system which they weren’t comfortable setting up. So basically they made NO effort to check my benefits. The least they could have done was to let me know and I could have checked it for them. At the end of our conversation I

Love coming here. Had a lot of work lately because I let my dental care slip a bit. Dr Lucas is a great dentist. I like the new clean office and the conversation that the doc has while working on my teeth. Nice distraction from the drill. Would recommend to anybody who lives in South anchorage or Girdwood. Update Aug 2018. Still come here still love the Doc.

I haven't been to the dentist in about 13-15 years; i've lost count of the years. I'm only 31 and I figured my mouth would be wrecked. His staff, hygiene assistant, and the Nathan Lukes himself were extremely friendly and helpful. I went to him for a second opinion (also a extremely bad experience at the place I went to a few days prior) and I went from a 5500k out of pocket "Care Plan" from place "A" to a 600$ "Care Plan" from Nathan Lukes. He fixed my very very very small chipped tooth that was mentally driving me nuts while I went in for my initial exam; this is something the other Dentist tried to ignore and push off to do "when I have free time during a filling." This is some BS in my opinion, since i'm the patience and went in specifically for this inconvenience in my mouth. Needless to say, I had a wonderful experience and I'm looking forward to getting the work I need done through this office. I went from ~12 cavities and 2 root canals at location "A" to half the cavities, no root canals, and my small chip fixed...that to me is a HUGE burden off my shoulders. Hope this helps anyone looking to head into this office.
