My whole family and I are really happy with Drs. Jason and Austin Ako. The father son team do a great job and the office staff is wonderful. My wife has needed a fair amount of work that included services from other dental specialists. Dr. Jason Ako did a great job coordinating treatment and acting as a patient advocate for her. I am also pleased that the office works hard to get the maximum benefit from our insurance plan. Dr. Austin Ako is my daughter’s dentist and has done a very good job with her treatment. Dr. Ako and Kahala Family Dentistry are doing the lord’s work! Best dentist in Hawaii hands down. Friends and family of mine will fly to Oahu from big island just to see him instead other their local outer island dentists. I first saw him ten years ago for a traumatic injury that happened resulting in two new front teeth that are more beautiful than the original teeth and fixed the gap in then as well. He also helped a friend with serious cosmetic work who was injured with a broken jaw and missing teeth from a sports accident. This month he did the lord’s work again on my mouth! Anyway, Dr. Ako is the jedi master dentist of Hawaii and wins the Best Dentist award every year too. I recommend Kahala Family Dentistry for all your dental needs. This is the way!

So thrilled to have found Dr. Austin Ako! I’m a very nervous patient & walked into my first appointment with my typical apprehension but Dr. Ako & his staff immediately put me at ease. The staff is very friendly & accommodating. They explain all procedures and review billing costs thoroughly which is always appreciated. Dr. Ako is patient, knowledgable and seems to have a genuine investment in the health of his patients. He takes his time to explain the procedure -both before and during- and asks how you are doing throughout. I’m also happy to report that this doctor truly provides a pain-free experience! I hate needles but I’ve had multiple fillings & replacement of a crown so far and felt nothing! Dr. Ako will also make recommendations for at home care & will provide great info so you can keep up with your oral health between visits. Five stars for sure!!!

Dr. Ako is "my dentist", he's "my guy". I really don't have that in a lot of things, like I don't have a set doctor, hair stylist, mechanic, etc. Several years ago I got the recommendation to see him as I was looking for a general dentist, but had never had major work. I went and was so enthralled by the technology he uses/keeps up with just with basic cleanings/imaging, I knew he knew what he was talking about/doing. I had to have my first major work done (crown) about a year ago. When I cracked the tooth, they initially couldn't see me for a week. Since I had had no major work/issues before I was freaking out a bit. I got an appointment with a different dentist a colleague recommended and before they even started the exam it felt "off" and I apologized and left. So glad I waited to go and have him do the work. Just went today to have a second crown (I need 3 in total as I have been a teeth grinder for years) and was there for 1.5 hours and then I went to work with no ill effects. I am so glad to finally have someone, especially as important as a dentist, that I am so endlessly confident in. Many Mahalos for all that you and your team do! P.S. Michelle is amazing!!
