Excellent work done in a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Dr. Coleen Sullivan repaired my teeth quickly & painlessly, answering any questions I had. I highly recommended Hawaii Family Dental. Another visit to complete a crown was once again well done. Dr. Coleen Sullivan & the entire staff make the whole experience easy, painless & enjoyable. Once again Hawaii Family Dental took care of my dental needs by extracting a broken tooth. It was done smoothly quickly & painlessly despite ongoing Covid 19 issues in the area. On March 17, 2023 I had two damaged bottom teeth removed by Dr. Brendt-Alexander Lum. The procedure was done quickly and efficiently by this caring dentist and assistant. Once again I highly recommend Kona’s Hawaii Family Dental.

This was my first time in this office and what great experience I had! The staff was very friendly and the lady dentist I saw was great and made me feel very comfortable! Had a great experience with the talented Dr. Adair & Dental Assistant Ms. Awa. I had a pleasant root canal, perfect amount of numbing & quick, skilled procedure. Excellent service and great care taken to explain procedures

Everyone is very friendly and efficient. The dentist was so kind and gentle. My Grand daughter doesn't mind going to the dentist at all. She doesn't even complain about the injections she has gotten. She looks forward to going to the dentist even if she knows she is going to have a procedure done. They have a movie of choice projected on to the ceiling to keep the child distracted. Great office for children because they develop a positive attitude about going to the dentist which will carry on into adulthood. I would highly recommend this office.

This has been a great place for me, from the receptionist to the assistants to the dentist. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. I got implants put in. An oral surgeon Dr. Hiranaka put in my implant and my dentist Dr. Adair was also there assisting. After surgery I was very surprised there was no pain. Dr. Adair has been great.

I have been going to HFD for years!!!! Convenient location and Jeff is the best that cleans my teeth!

My dentist, Dr. Barry, Is the best ever, after his exam I feel good that I am doing the right thing with my teeth, teeth are so very important. My ‘ Mahalo’ to both Jeff and Dr, Barry.

Dec 2022 Just recently, I've returned for a periodical exam and teeth cleaning. Again, I received the most prompt and clear explanation at each step. I am deeply grateful for the continued high quality care and attention showered upon me, started with the moment I stepped into the reception area. Thank you Michelle, Sam, Jeff, and Dr. Barry. You are truly the best. ----- 2021 As a new patient, I have made three visits so far. Impressively, I've received excellent care with clear and generous explanations from my two dentists and a hygienist: Dr. Barry Sullivan, Dr. Erik Strommer, and Jeff. Their calm and kind expressions had really helped me feel a lot less stress with each visit. I also appreciate very much the most prompt and courteous attention that I've received from their assistants and staff. Thank you.

If I could give negative stars I would. When we spoke to the receptionist the first time they accepted quest and now they don’t?? My boyfriend came in for an appointment but was not able to go in because they didn’t take his insurance. On their website it’s also CLEARLY listed that HMSA quest is taken and yet he was still denied and yet our daughter goes to this same dentist and she’s accepted but there was nothing on the site that has clear information that quest is taken for kids and not adults. He was met by a RUDE and disrespectful receptionist thawhile trying to figure out his insurance issues. He tried to ask questions because he has insurance through his job but they weren’t willing to help and then after waiting 3 months for this appointment (made it in October) they rescheduled for another 3 months in March (it’s December) like great just great!!! Cancel that appointment… bye! Quest is a great benefit and everyone deserves good dental and healthcare without all that extra sass and judgment.

We have had a very difficult time finding quality dental care here on the Big Island. A few of my children have had very traumatic experiences with another well recommended dentist in Kona, and it’s been really challenging finding someone me and my children would trust. I have a child with an anxiety disorder (and mom too) and all of my children have bad genetics and needed some pretty extensive work done. After months of searching and reading reviews and personal testimonies, we decided to try Hawaii Family Dental. They scheduled my 3 oldest boys all at one time. I accompanied them with my baby in tow. We had the lovely pleasure of getting Dr. Sieka, and it couldn’t have been a better fit for our family. Her natural love for children just shines through. Her brilliant approach at distraction, like “can you count the geckos” so my children who are watching don’t see the big needle poking brother. To not calling it an extraction or tooth pulling, and to say “scrubbing the sugar bugs away”. The list goes on. The room is filled with frequent jokes and giggles. We’ve had caps, fillings, and extractions, all without a single tear or resistance. My son said he didn’t even know when she pulled out the tooth, he thought she was just cleaning. (This was the opposite experience we had with the old dentist, Dr. M***. Both of my children felt it all and they strapped their arms down while they panicked and sobbed.) The worst part for my children was when they were coming off the nitrous oxide and they feel the numbing in their face, but that wears off within 20 minutes and then they were golden. The only negative experience I could say we had was on our first visit, our hygienist wasn’t the most personable and then at the end of that visit, she only let one of my children pick a treasure box prize.
