Dr. Josiah Chen is a caring, conservative, honest and professional dentist. We’ve been going there for many years and we get treated like family. I’ve had a few issues here and there, and he just tells me to come in and he’ll take care of everything! I’ve had billing issues at other places, but I’ve never had an issue here. They give me the estimate ahead of time, go through my insurance, and I know exactly what I’m paying - never any hidden surprises. I moved away from Morrisville a few years ago, but I still go out of my way to go to this office. I definitely recommend him.

I visit this practice for standard cleanings. I fully recommend.

Very professional and quality service

***AVOID THIS DENTIST!!!*** Went to this Josiah Chen for several years with no issues/cavities. Then was told I needed deep scaling and 2 fillings. Scaling was very expensive and painful, and fillings were so rough/not contouring to my teeth that I needed to go back to have them shaped/polished. I had also referred my boyfriend to Chen. My boyfriend needed a small filling fixed, and at 40 yrs old had only ever had two fillings (exceptional teeth). Chen told him he would have to deep scale and then diagnosed him with 6 cavities! Trusting that Chen was reputable, my boyfriend had 3 fillings done on one side. The very small filling that needed fixed subsequently got infected and now a $4k root canal is needed. We both are now seeing a qualified dental professional who advised my boyfriend he has no other cavities (so the other 3 were completely bogus). New dentist also advised both of us that we never needed those expensive deep scalings. Take good care of your teeth and STAY AWAY from this dental practice!

I honestly don't know how Dr Chen is legally allowed to practice. This place is all about getting your money and nothing more. I was told I had 6 cavities by Dr Chen which was a shock since I'd only ever had 2 in my life to that point. I allowed him to fill 3 of them on 1 side but they were extremely crude fillings that did not fit the contour of my other teeth and he didn't bother to polish them. I didn't go back and instead went to another dentist who couldn't find any sign of the other 3 cavities Dr Chen told me I have. The other dentist finished the fillings Dr Chen did and actually replaced one that had already cracked.

Great experience here. Dr Chen is very professional and every one in the office is very nice. Scheduling is a breeze. Wish hygienists could be more accommodative.

My 1st appt started off well enough. I did become frustrated when it appeared that potential revenue was affecting care decisions. What I needed was an extraction. A referral was offered after I insisted the tooth was not worth saving (it isn't for many reasons). As I was paying the bill, the card was handed back and as I desired to leave the facility, I declined the opportunity to wait for the receipt to print so I could sign it with their covid pen. As I said to the staff, the cc company will pay you whether there is a signature on the scrap of paper or not. This is where it starts getting interesting. The person I am dealing with, Victor, insists that I must stay and sign (still waiting for it to print). So I leave. He chases me out to my vehicle and I repeat what I said, signature not needed. He says he'll call if it doesn't go through. What he doesn't know, is my card has already notified me of the charge. After I left, he calls and leaves a vmail to say the charge didn't go through. When he went to vmail, he decided to cancel the charge. I guess to make some point? My cc company confirmed that the charge was authorized but cancelled by the merchant. This fellow is menacing and unsuitable in his role. The rest of the staff seems very pleasant and under other circumstances, I would consider care at Dr Chen's practice.

Love this dentist, Dr. Chen is friendly and does a great job. Nicest staff as well!

Our family has gone to Dr. Chen for years and has been very happy. He is thorough and gentle, and the hygienists are as well. They make going to the dentist a pleasant experience!

I went to Dr. Chen's dental office for over six years while I lived in NC. Dr. Chen is extremely knowledgeable, patient and professional. He always takes his time to explain the issues with my teeth, the possible cause and the solutions. The work he did on my teeth, from minor filling, to root canal to crown were all so perfect! All his staff, from the front desk to all the hygienists are all super pleasant and did a wonderful job in cleaning my teeth and giving me all the education I needed to take care of my gum. What makes Dr. Chen stands out in his profession is he never tries to "rob" the customers. I've heard many stories from my friends and colleagues that their dentists tried very hard to find "problems" in their teeth so they could make more money by fixing things that really don't need to be fixed. Dr. Chen is always honest, transparent and trust-worthy. I made my last visit in March 2018 to Dr. Chen's office before moving to Boston. Both Dr. Chen and his hygienist took the time explaining to me the gum issues I was having and how I should follow up with the new dentist. Now I have lived in Boston for over two months and am still in search of a dentist as good as Dr. Chen!

Nobody is a fan of going to the dentist. Nobody. However, I have been going to Dr. Chen since 2006 - as has my entire family - and if I have to go to the dentist, Dr. Chen has always made sure to make the experience the best possible. He is very friendly, knowledgeable and gives all of his patients first class treatment.

I rarely ever take the time to write a review, but I just couldn’t resist! I visited today as a new patient, and was completely blown away with how friendly the staff is. The office is close by my new residence, very clean, and the atmosphere here is remarkable. My appointment with Morrisville Family Dentistry was a memorable experience. I will definitely continue my dental care with this office.

Dr Chen is a conservative dentist, meaning he's not one of those who likes to replace old fillings just to make more $$$. We've been to a few in Cary like that. Also, their dental hygienist staff are gentle & thorough. We love it here. I've been reluctant to go bc of the bad experiences I've had with other rougher dentists, but after going, and telling them my fears, etc, they were awesome!! I definitely refer Dr Chen to everyone I know!!

Cowards welcome! I'm extremely picky when choosing a dentist and I can assure you Dr. Chen and his staff are top notch. The office is very clean, modern and welcoming. I'm very anxious when it comes to dental work and felt very comfortable for my cleaning and when I was back for 2 fillings. Dr. Chen has a gentle hand and I didn't feel a thing. Being that this was my first couple of visits with Dr. Chen I was hesitant as to what was covered with my insurance; I felt that the front office staff gave me an accurate overview of the cost beforehand and answered any questions/concerns I had regarding co-pays. Highly recommended.

1.0 star rating 2/25/2016 Do not go to this dentist. While the dentist and hygienists are great, the bate and switch they run in the billing office is ridiculous. We were quoted an out of pocket for $320 on deep cleaning. We paid this, they collected additional funds beyond this from our insurance. They still billed us $888 more. Correct me if I am wrong, but over $1100 out of pocket is a big difference. When we told the billing person Marianne that was outrageous, she threatened us with collections if we did not pay in some form. We would never have agreed to this treatment if we had been given the correct information. This was their fault and not our mistake. They are just in business for the money.

Office is good with being on time. Our 7 and 2 year old go here as well and enjoy the TV screens - both boys have been coming here as long as they have had teeth. Dr. Chen has done an excellent job with fillings - I have never had to come back once to get them adjusted. I love the convenience of having a good dentist close to work. I went to another dentists near RTP but didn't have a single filling that didn't require adjustment afterwards - so I have been thrilled with Dr. Chen's work and great location.

Dr. Chen I must say you guys set national standards especially in teeth cleaning abilities! I've been a customer for at least 7 years and every time I left I would always tell myself, damn, my teeth sure are super clean! As a matter of fact, the whole inside of my mouth and its components are super fresh! I moved to CA recently/not too long ago for better opportunities. Doing so, I had to find a new dentist. Long story short, the way my teeth/mouth felt going in was the same way going out which was very dissatisfying. I literally had to elaborate on the things you guys did so they can step their game up. I do have a 2nd free appointment coming up but why should I have to visit twice within 3 days? In any case, I just wanted to give your office a shout-out as you guys are thorough! I recommend this dentistry service 100% as you will definitely leave feeling great!

Walked in, walked out. Be careful of thrown in cost. May not be the cost quoted to you at the beginning. Other than that dental problem solved. Dr. Chen and his staff were great!
