Great location and very clean. They have new people training so be patient. Great communication when things are taking longer than anticipated. New patient appointment with cleaning is about 2 hours. They go over cost before they do anything with you. They can do same day crowns which is awesome the appointment just takes longer but good thing is you don’t have to make multiple trips. Overall experience is great just make sure you plan to be there a couple hours if your new.

I don’t ever write reviews but this place was horrible so I felt the need to warn others so they don’t waste their time and money. Firstly getting an appointment with them was a pain because they ran both mine and my boyfriends insurance wrong saying that we have Medicaid. We are in our 20s, work full time and have full dental insurance. When I explained that to the front desk they told me that can’t be because they called and ran it so it wasn’t a mistake. Then a manager called me back apologizing for the mistake and rebooked our appointments. My boyfriend went first and they conned him into laser treatment for gingivitis. When I went for my appointment, before they even looked at my teeth they wanted to do the laser treatment, which I declined. Then they looked at my teeth, with no X-rays cause I’m pregnant and said I needed the laser treatment for gingivitis and needed 5 crowns. I go to the dentist every 6 months and take great care of my teeth, so I declined and just asked for a regular cleaning. They told me no that since I was pregnant they would only do the laser treatment because I had gingivitis. I then told them I did not want anything done and they said “good luck finding someone that will just do a regular cleaning for you”. I just went to my regular dentist back in Florida while I was home visiting, and guess what, no gingivitis, no crowns needed and just got a normal cleaning with no issues at all with my teeth. This place is just money hungry, so please don’t waste your time and go somewhere else.

Mary, and the other wonderful lady at the front desk (Michele?) have been nothing but incredible! I’ve visited this office several times now and am always pleasantly surprised with their treatment. Despite my fears, concerns, (and occasional tears LOL), they have always made sure my questions were answered and helped me settle any confusion I’ve had. As someone with an underlying medical condition, they were also kind and vigilant enough to ask if my health was stable prior to leaving (as stress can often influence blood pressure). They also went the extra mile and assisted me with setting up a financing plan to more comfortably afford my treatments. Not to mention, every single tech and assistant that I have met has been SO kind and educational. My extreme nerves at the dentist are always met with kindness, compassion, and a smile at Sylvan Park. Dr. Sico was also phenomenal working with me, as someone with a LOT of dental anxiety. She gave me as many breaks as needed, always told me what was coming and what was next, and was CONSTANTLY checking in asking if I was okay, needed water, a break, to take some deep breaths, etc. Wonderful staff, comfortable experience. Seeing the negative reviews prior to mine is very surprising as I truly cannot imagine that type of experience with these humans at this practice. I cannot recommend them enough!!!!

Easily the worst experience I’ve had at the dentist in my 28 years of living. My appointment started out by the front desk yelling at me across the room, asking why I hadn’t responded to their call or email - when I hadn’t received any. After I put my name in, I sat down in the waiting room and a lady yells across the room “So do you not know how to answer your phone? Do you not know how to call someone back?” I was so taken back by this. They nearly brought me to tears and embarrassed me the way they were speaking to me.

Not to mention, this was my second appointment because the first one I scheduled they called and had to cancel it and couldn’t book me until a month later. Which was frustrating because I am pregnant and I needed to get my cleaning.

After my cleaning, the dentist recommended that I needed not one but FOUR root canals asap. With my insurance the totally they quoted was over $6,000.

I received a second option today from Roach Family Dentistry (they were my previous dentistry and I LOVED THEM, but changed because my husband and I moved across town and it was convenient) I went back to them today because something felt off, again I am 25 weeks pregnant and I want to stay on top of my health. The dentist from Roach was taken back that they had even suggested a root canal - they said it made 0 sense. They had all my X-rays + notes from Sylvan Park Smiles- They were still so confused why they ever suggested that treatment. They didn’t even suggest that I had a cavity or would even need a fill in the near future.

My husband and I will never be going back.

I love Dr Sico! She made me feel so comfortable about everything and is so down to Earth and cool. Even though we just met it seems like we have been friends for forever. She is super knowledgeable about everything and talks to me in a way that I always understand. I would recommend her to anyone.

I highly recommend this place! Everyone from the front desk to the hygienist to Dr. Begley was so friendly and helpful. The office is very clean and updated. Everyone knows what they are doing and does their job well. They were efficient but thorough. Glad to have found a place that I actually enjoy going to!

This review is long overdue but I have never really left a review so that’s why it has taken 3 months. I just have to say Rebecca and Dr. Begley have to be the best not only dentist but customer service/healthcare professional I have ever met. It was 3 days before Christmas and it was 4 pm, they were about to close and the big freeze was hitting that night. I had my dog with me and they took care of my dog while they were closed and the Dr. Worked on me until 7pm doing 4 fillings and 1 crown(not just a temp). I did not ask them to do this, they just did it knowing I would be leaving town and now was the best time for me to do it with my insurance I had at the time. I 100% recommend them as they are incredibly nice people and excellent at what they do.

I take great care of my teeth and see a dentist regularly. After moving to Nashville, I scheduled an appointment here. Everyone was nice, but the xrays took forever and were honestly painful and they quoted me $2000 for a root canal they wanted to do that day right then on a cavity under a previous filling that I have no pain related to. My previous dentist hadn't said anything about it 6 months before. I heard them telling the person in the next room he would also need thousands of dollars in treatment. When my husband visited, they told him he needed gum treatment and the same root canal they wanted to give me but he also has no tooth pain. We are both finding new dentists because something does not feel right here

DO NOT TRUST YOUR TEETH WITH THIS OFFICE. They are incompetent. First, they did not notice that my tooth was abscessed and tried to apply a temporary crown even when it would not stop bleeding. A week later, I go to an emergency appointment with an outside endodontist in extreme pain. When the endodontist takes off the temporary crown pus flows out of what is left of my tooth, resulting in having to be on penicillin and medicated mouthwashes for a week to clear up the infection. Finally, when I go back to Sylvan Park Smiles to get my permanent crown placed it took 4.5 hours, I was there from 1:00pm - 5:30pm.
Furthermore, this office will try to upsell you on everything and not explain the other options that insurance actually does pay for, resulting in a $300 difference between the insurance EOB and what you actually pay the office. Office workers are completely rude when you question any billings whatsoever.
I am reporting this office’s license to the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry so other do not have to go through the same experience.

UPDATE: I noticed employees are self rating and giving 5 stars to skew the reviews.

Everyone at Sylvan was just extremely kind from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out! I had my first appointment here with Dr. Sico and she was literally the best! She went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I would definitely recommend coming here!
