I had an 8 AM appointment, and got stuck in traffic after dropping my children off at school in Boerne due to rain and storms. I promptly called the office at 8 AM to let them know I was running late and the receptionist told me there would be a firm 815 cut off and if I couldn’t make it by then they were going to charge me a $50 cancellation fee. As a patient for over three years I think that that is harsh and unprofessional. I moved 30 minutes away and continue to keep my business with this office but as of this point I will be finding a local dentist in Boerne. I can only imagine what financial struggles this office must be facing to implement this harsh of a cancellation policy when the patient calls to explain the circumstances and the office is aware of the weather which caused the delay

I am asked to provide feedback of an appointment that I was unable to attend. I believe the $50 dollar charge for canceling an appointment with less than 24-hour notice is unfair to the patients. Events may arise unexpectedly on the day of the appointment that prevent patients from attending their appointments. The $50 dollar cancelation fee is just another way for the doctors office to make money off a patients unpreventable misfortune. This practice needs to stop.
