Blaine & Birch Bay Family Dentistry

I have been going to Blaine & Birch Bay Family Dentistry for over 3 years now. I love the staff there - front desk so friendly and knowledgable about all insurance needs, dental hygienists do a great job, and Dr. Chen...he's super. I had an old metal filling from military days, talking about 40 years, and when Dr. Chen said he could provide a ceramic one, which was safer, I said sure. That old filling had worn down and kept tearing floss. I was nervous, never had that work done before, but he replaced it and my ceramic molar is awesome. Thank you for doing a great job!

I love Blaine Family Dentistry...Dr Chen is incredibly informative, kind and gentle, as is the current hygienist (I forget her name :) but she cleaned my teeth most recently in Oct, 2022. The entire staff is professional and a delight to work with. Thank you Dr Chen

Our family loves Dr. Chen. He is a very caring, gentle, skilled, and honest dentist. We have been going to him since he first opened his practice in Blaine... over 15 years ago! He has wonderful staff to support him. I remember Brandy from our very first visit there many moons ago... she is super friendly and dependable.

Hygienists are very capable, helpful, friendly, and gentle. Same for Dr Chen. They have the latest equipment and technology. They are proactive but not pushy about care.

Dr Chen is a very good dentist and is very kind. Ramona my hygienist is a lovely person and the office staff are all so nice.

In terms of service, it's not a bad place to get your dental work done. They just charge you a ton of money, and sometimes charge you extra for things you don't really need.

A few years ago, I was going in for the first time to get my regular cleaning done. They made a HUGE deal about my back molar, which had a filling from a cavity I had many years ago. Apparently that molar absolutely needed deep cleaning, and that my toothbrushing habits were less than ideal.

I just find it suspicious that EVERY single other dentist I've been to has never mentioned anything about my back molar needing deep cleaning. I also find it suspicious that EVERY single other dentist I've been to comments that my teeth are beautiful and my toothbrushing habits are stellar.

I did end up getting the deep cleaning anyway. I went to another dentist afterwards, and they said "oh, well ok" as if I didn't actually need it.

And everytime I went back to this dental office, any problem I brought up was quickly blamed on my back molar. Bad breath? It's because my toothbrushing habits suck and bad breath-causing bacteria is collecting on that molar (which isn't wrong, except the fact that I actually take care of my teeth).

Like really? You're so quick to blame it on that? There's no possibility of my bad breath being caused by anything else?

It was my diet. I changed my diet, and boom, bad breath gone.

And then, they even told me I needed to come in for a regular cleaning every 3 months instead of every 6 months, because of my supposed horrible back molar.

Sorry, I want to clarify, Dr. Chen is amazing. He seems to care and want the best for your dental health. It's the people who do your cleaning that I find suspicious, trying to squeeze extra money out of you.

Overall, their service is good. Very comfortable, clean, and tidy. It's just, I've spent so more money on my teeth from here when I've found equally if not better dental places elsewhere.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Chen for several years. This is a very friendly and efficient office. Dr. Chen is kind and knowledgeable. He diagnosed a cancer for me and I am extremely thankful for his thoroughness and diligence. The office staff bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable and do all of the insurance and paperwork for the clients. My children don't mind going and I look forward to the massage chairs! Recently had a implant crown perfectly fitted by Dr. CHEN. Very professionally run office. Helpful staff too!

Dr. Chen and his staff are very gentle and professional. We recently moved to the area and needed good dental care. We saw an ad for their services and decided to try them. We are NOT disappointed! My wife has been in dentistry for most of her career and she highly approves of their practice! We will look no further as they are as good as it gets. Highly recommended!
