We have been patients of Dr. Brian Yamamoto since he opened his practice in Fairbanks in 1985 and have never regretted the decision to select him as our dentist. Compared with other dentists we have experienced, his technical ability is superior and his and his hygienists' emphasis on preventive care is outstanding. Very importantly, he does not recommend unnecessary procedures. We know of individuals who moved from Fairbanks to the lower '48 states and still fly to Fairbanks specifically to have their dental needs provided by Dr. Yamamoto and his staff. Being new to the area, I did an online search for a dentist and after studying them all very carefully, settled on Dr. Yamamoto.

If you’re looking for an excellent dentist, look no further, Dr. Yamamoto is top notch. I have been very impressed with the professional and thorough care I have received. He even jiggles your cheek so the shot doesn’t hurt, and settles your nerves by telling you what’s happening during procedures.

He’s an all around excellent dentist and I’m so happy I found him!

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Y since we moved here in 2001. When we had kids, they started going to him at age 3. He is so wonderful with kids and mine look forward to dentist visits because of him (and Kermit the frog). I’ve never used Novocain for fillings and I can tell you, he is careful and efficient at replacing existing fillings (haven’t had cavities in a very long time now). I highly recommend this practice if you are in need of a great dentist!

Before I moved out of town, I saw Dr Yamamoto for nearly a decade for cleanings, exams, fillings, and wisdom teeth extraction (performed by a an oral surgeon in Anchorage that made monthly visits to the Dr Yamamoto's Fairbanks office). Dr. Yamamoto is an outstanding dentist, with caring and calming "chair-side manner" and a well-trained, professional, kind, and efficient staff. (For an example of efficiency, many dentists in town cannot usually arrange an exam during the same appointment as a cleaning but Dr Yamamoto always could.)
One thing about Dr. Yamamoto's practice stood out to me in particular, different from every other dentist I've visited: his exams are extremely methodical with sound scientific practice. Essentially, an assistant will give an initial exam. Then Dr. Yamamoto will follow up with a more thorough exam that included calling out observations on each tooth, which the assistant would confirm with the notes from the previous exams. Therefore, problems are detected earlier and more reliably, when they are easier and less expensive to correct. (How else would any dentist recall changes in a tooth from several months prior?) This seems to me to be "common sense" practice but in the 30+ years I remember my experiences at the dentist, Dr. Yamamoto is the only one I've observed with this "common sense."
Another thing is that I never felt pressured by way of "up selling" services and treatments. For nearly a decade he reminded me that a mouth guard could help some problems stemming from teeth grinding at night but not once did I felt pressured into a service or treatment. He simply explained risks, benefits and consequences in a way that I felt comfortable making a decision for myself.
Bottom line is that I highly recommend Dr. Yamamoto without reservation.

I have been going to Dr. Yamamoto and his practice for almost 30 years now. He and his staff are always prompt and professional and I have never been unsatisfied with the care I’ve received. He is always conservative in his estimates about treatment and care, and because of this I’ve had occasions where places that looked like they could have become cavities or other issues have repaired themselves without the need for intervention—in short, things like fillings are done only when absolutely necessary. You will never face the worry or fear that you have been given an estimate or recommendation due to dollar signs rather than for what is in your best interest, unlike some other dentists I have had the misfortune of having to try in emergency situations whilst traveling. Even when I was living overseas, I went out of my way to have my checkups done at his practice when would I visit. He and his staff are also great with children (and he does a wonderful impersonation of Kermit the Frog, much to their delight). He is an asset to the community and I’d recommend him to anyone. I also greatly recommend his hygienist/technician Lisa.

I and my family have been going to Brian Yamamoto for 30 years. He and his Kermit the frog puppet would put on a great show for the kids, making the visits much less stressful for all of us. I would definitely recommend him to be your family dentist.

Wonderful office! Dr.Yamamoto & staff are so caring and nice. They are always welcoming and very thorough. Hygienists are super sweet my teeth have aways felt amazing after my cleanings! Love this office!

I have been visiting Dr. Yamamoto's office for years. Scheduling and appointments have always been easy and reliable, and the staff make cleanings/exams streamlined and painless. On top of that, hygiene is top-notch especially during these times.

Have been going to see Dr. Yamamoto since the early 90’s. He’s always been very friendly a very good dentist. Our kids went there until they moved out of state. He always listens to you and make things better.
