AZ Dentist - Modern Family Dentistry

I am extremely scared of the dentist from a past experience, but this place was awesome! They are so understanding and wonderful to work with. I am finally going to move forward with the work that I have needed done for so many years now thanks to them.

I just went in for my visit today as a new patient for a cleaning and to talk about my free whitening kit for free! Hands down everyone in that office was amazing and so sweet! Front desk, Dental assistant, hygienist, and doctor all amazing! I honestly don't usually like going to the dentist but this one by far is the best. I highly recommend this denistry! Thank You Modern Family Dentistry for being so kind, friendly and gentle!

What a lovely group of ladies. What I loved most was the office staffs use of text to get information out. I have 4 kids so phone calls are often a burden but I was able to set up an appointment, confirm and reserve reminders and send my insurance info all through text. Not to mention the kind women working in the office. From the hygienist to reception and the Dentist himself, everyone was so warm, welcoming, flexible and understanding of all circumstances.
The billing issues should be noted. Both times I have been to this dentist there has been a billing issue. The first time they quoted me paying $30 and at check out they billed me $60 saying it was due to my insurance...okay one time mistake, I get it. Shocking to oay double what I was quoted but it happens. The next time they said it would be $60 for some special cleaning I was getting but could be $150 if they had to send me home with special gum treatment. The lady that worked on my teeth said that I would not in fact need the home care stuff and laughed "which should save you some money." To my surprise the appointment was $130 which was less then the $150 quoted but more then the $60 I expected to pay without the home treatment stuff. It was whatever because I was happy with the service and understood that it was my fault for not being to the dentist routinely. Hope to a month later when they tell me I have a $24 balance on my account due to miscalculations on their part... seems weird how often they make these sort of mistakes and how long it took them to catch it? And when I asked what for I was met with an uncharacteristically rude response of "we already explained this to you in the office..." so sad to say I wont be returning. They have a great staff and if you don't mind be consistently swindled they are great. However my family just can't afford to be paying for their mistakes weeks after paying and I certainly won't be spoken to with disrespect when questioning their multiple mistakes.

Best dentist office I've ever been to! Everyone is so friendly and nice and I feel like they're genuinely looking out for my family's best interests. Monica is the best hygienist ever!

Dr. Stacey is a wonderful, talented, conscientious professional! She and her assistants are compassionate, listening to all concerns, making your smile the best it can be! I drive almost 200 miles to her office because she is worth it. I am thrilled with her work... from fillings to crowns and Lumineers!

Best group of people you could ever hope to meet. Compassionate and hilarious. Dr. Layman is a very talented dentist and she has surrounded herself with a top-notch staff. I've had dental issues my whole life, and have never felt as well cared for, or in more capable hands, than since I started going to Modern Family Dentistry several years ago.

I hate going to the dentist. Yes I'm British and my teeth are bad...but from the moment I contacted modern family dentistry I was impressed, I was able to do alot before my appointment due to texting back and forward I loved this option. I had already formed a bond with the office girls. When I showed up for my appointment in these difficult times with the virus the girls where great I was pampered I got hand sanitizer and my temperature taken. We chatted about my situation and I enjoyed all the details I was told about my case. So they made me feel comfortable and relaxed and this helped with my anxiety in going to a dentist.
This was my first step in my treatment plan.
So 110% for my.first visit...

The staff is always friendly, procedures are explained and any questions I have are answered to help me with peace of mind. All costs are broken down and explained. They never make me feel as if I am wasting their time when I ask questions.

Bonus: They laugh at my jokes, even the not funny ones. It's just a fun office.

It is a typical dentist office. Clean professional setting. I deducted a star because they pay their customers $5 to give them 5 stars (It would be ethical to pay a customer to leave a rating, but they
shouldn't ever buy a rating). Additionally, the staff was asked to soft sell additional services, like Floride and cancer screenings. I particularly didn't warm to the cancer screening idea, because it is a loaded word that sells with fear. In my opinion, if it was a useful practice, then insurance would cover as a standard service. To drive home the point, they even made me sign a paper to show that I declined the cancer screening. Sales tactic? Maybe not, but I feel if it was sincere concern, then the office would just do it, not charge, and consider it to be part of the cost of doing business. When they asked me about a tiny chip on my tooth, I didn't even pursue the conversation, because I knew it would end up with a dollar quote. Back in the day, before "insurance," the dentist would just smooth it off and there wouldn't be an extra charge even considered. It's just part of the service that a dentist provides in the tiny time that they spend with a patient.
