I had to make an after hours appointment while passing through town, and couldn't have wished for a better experience. Dr. Schrager not only returned to the clinic to see me with barely any notice, but also made me feel incredibly welcome and looked after. His efficiency in addressing my concerns, thoroughness, and warm demeanor left a wonderful impression - I'd highly recommend him to anyone.

Visiting from San Francisco, I arrived in agony in Mammoth Lakes with what turned out to be an infected tooth that needed a root canal. Dr. Schrager addressed the issue so quickly and professionally that I was in his office barely 45 minutes and then on my way again. He's a very friendly and informed guy who made me feel completely at ease during the procedure. I'd recommend his services to anyone without hesitation!

While on vacation, I had a dental emergency. I was in tremendous pain, and it was a Saturday. Being prepared to suffer through the weekend with pain medications, I called a local dentist recommended to me by a kind person in a desperate effort to perhaps get this issue addressed. Dr. Craig Schrager from Mammoth Dental answered his cell phone immediately and came into work on a Saturday to take care of a patient that was not his own. He was kind, knowledgeable and sympathetic. His skilled hands went right to work with no wasted effort and with no assistance from another staff person, showing a high level of competence. He was able to figure out what was causing the pain and carefully rectified the issue. He discussed the treatment plan with me the entire time and answered all my questions. I also received a call later in the evening to check on my status. When I returned the call the next day (Sunday), he took the call despite recreating and answered additional questions. He likes feedback from patients so that he can more accurately provide guidance. That is quality care! If I lived in the area, he would definitely be my dentist! Thank you Craig!

I was on an extended vacation through Toiyabe and Yosemite when one of my front tooth veneers came off while eating breakfast. Of course it was on a Sunday so all of the dentists were closed. Fortunately, Mammoth Dental had an emergency number and Dr. Craig took the time to see me immediately. Within 30 minutes I was back on the road with an exceptional temporary replacement. Thank you so much for saving the day Dr. Craig!

After suffering an unbearable tooth ache on my holidays I was recommended Dr Schrager by a friend who lives in Mammoth. The lovely lady I spoke to on the phone booked me in for that afternoon (26th Dec, not normally a day one who find a dentist open). Dr Schrager provided excellent care and sorted my tooth ache. He has also been extremely helpful with following up information for my own dentist in Australia. I would highly recommend Dr Schrager to locals and tourist.

Horrible! I made the appointment last week, went in today for a concrete job (my permenant retainer came off and has been sticking through my tongue for days.) They left me in the waiting room for 30 minutes and then left me in a room for 40 additional wonderful, lonely minutes. Unbelievable!
The girls in the office are sweet but when the rude Doctor came in and starting babbling about just trying to fit me in I let him know he and his office had literally four days to prep for this appointment. This wasn't made the same day, this was made days before maybe they should focus on NOT overbooking, then bring rude to the patient, just a thought!
The only thing I liked about the office is that it's in Mammoth, the other, their couches. Super cozy after 30 minutes! I will definitely refer anyone I know out of town, my suggestion, go to Bishop! Entitled dentists in Mammoth should treat every patient with the upmost respect and utilize the same time frames they require or would like to have when they or their families are forced to head into a doctors appointment! :(

When you're more than a thousand miles away from home, a "dental emergency" brings with it more than tooth pain. That's why the kindness of Dr. Schrager and his staff was more than a welcome gift to me recently. An emergency root canal--done by Dr. Schrager during his lunch hour!--brought relief to every part of my body and spirit. I entered the office a stranger and left as one blessed by their expertise and intuitive wisdom. My gratitude goes beyond these words....

If there is someone in this world who deserves to be called a "Trail-Angel", it's definitely Dr. Schrager!!!
He was the reason that - in the end - I was able to finish my solo-nobo-JMT-hike and got my plane back to Germany on time! :) (...like you might guess now, I'm from Germany - I'm not a native speaker. So, I apologize for every mistake I will surely make - if you find some, you may keep them (I myself have enough ;)))
Starting from Horseshoe Meadows in August 2016 my wisdom tooth started aching after I left Whitney. Since I was not really able to eat any more, I left the trail via Kearsarge Pass and arrived in Independence on a Friday evening... I tried to call a couple of dentists but I wasn't lucky. So (on my birthday...) I finally ended up in The Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop on Saturday morning (cuz after I called them they told me I should definitely show up there). The doctors were very friendly but in the end they weren't able to help. So they prescribed me a bunch of medicine and gave me a list with addresses of dentists saying I should try to call these to see one asap.
So I called one dentist after another and left messages on their mailboxes. Meanwhile it was about noon and I had tried to reach out to far more than a dozen. It was Dr. Schrager who was THE ONLY ONE calling me back very shortly after I left the message on his mailbox... I can't tell how relieved I was. He said he would be up in the mountains on his mountainbike, but could be at his office at about 2 pm and then help me.
So I hitchhiked from Bishop to Mammoth (because of that I met another Trail Angel - but that's a very different story...) and got there in time, while he was already waiting for me. He pulled out my tooth - and even put it into a tiny treasure chest so I would be able to carry it along with me :) Finally, he got me some different antibiotics and told me how to treat the wound right, so that I would be able to continue my trip.
On the next day, I was happy to be back on the trail where I got my first trailname: Chipmunk... (it was well deserved! I was not allowed to eat any nuts cuz of the treatment, though - what a bummer for a hiker!!) However, the wound has healed perfectly, until today i have no further issues.
If I would have had to wait until Monday to see a dentist, I most likely would have not been able to finish my hike because I would have missed my plane back home. Furthermore, the infection could have become even worse, so that I maybe would not have been able to hike at all. So, meeting these two trail angels plus getting my wisdom tooth pulled was definitely the best birthday present I could've thought of that day :)
I'm sorry that it took me so long to write this review but i wanted to take some time for it - just writing a sentence like "he's a great dentist" by far wouldn't live up to it.
Dear Dr. Schrager, again, thank you so much for spending your precious spare time to help a hiker in need :) I really appreciate it.
