Dr. Chen-Tsung Chang Family Dentistry

Dr. Chen and his team were incredible. They stayed on the phone with the insurance when it appeared our information was not properly sent to them. They accommodated seeing my 6 yr old later that same day. Then, Dr. Chen gave her 2 fillings in a calm, supportive, and speedy manner. We're so grateful to the entire team.

I'll start by saying that Dr. Changs staff is very friendly and efficient. Fast forward 5 years later after my first visit and I found a new dentist to fix everything Dr. Chang has done. EVERYTHING. He just wants the money and doesn't care about his patients. I was in pain even with a cleaning and he does them himself instead of a hiring a hygienist.

I'm not one to write reviews on places but this one left me with no other choice. I had a very similar experience as one of the previous reviewers. Out of my many, many years of going to various dentists, this was by FAR the worst experience I've ever had. Although the staff there is friendly, the doctor himself is very abrasive with his practice. He is not gentle or careful whatsoever with cleaning teeth and also rushes the entire thing. All he did was move the drill back and forth the front row of teeth, didn't even bother checking the backside of teeth and poked around so hard that my gums are still aching. I originally went in for a tooth check since I was having discomfort eating sweets and suspected a cavity, but he insisted I didn't have one. When I showed him where it hurt, he was extremely unprofessional and purposely making the tooth hurt more that his assistants had to tell him to stop then proceeded to say there was nothing wrong and wrapped up my visit in 10 minutes. My teeth did not feel clean and I continued to feel pain even after he applied some medicine gel. Would not recommend.
Edit: I got a second opinion from another dentist on the toothache a week later and sure enough, a cavity.

This is by far the best dentist I have been to. Everyone in this office I have come in contact with in person or over the phone has been so nice and easy to talk to. They seem to genuinely care about their patients here. I have alot of work that needs to be done and I'm only halfway through. Because of past experiences I was honestly scared to have the work done. They put me at ease. They answered all my questions and gave me all my options. They explained everything they were doing. When I had first called them I was in pain and they were able to get me in right away and I have never been left sitting and waiting in the waiting room to be called, nor have I ever been taken back and had to wait while sitting in the back. This whole office has gone above and beyond my expectations! I would definitely recommend this family dentistry to anyone!

Whenever I had any problem with my teeth, I went to see Doctor Chang. He is a nice professional and always get jobs done perfectly. The staff there are also very friendly that makes you feel at home. I strongly recommend this dental clinic.

I don't normally write reviews but I want to make everyone aware of my experience with this dentist. I've had several dental cleanings and operations in the past and this one was by far, the worst. I had 2 separate cleanings done and it was a painful experience. He wasn't gentle and rushed through the whole operation. The electrical pick tool he used to remove my plaques, violently oscillated back and forth and excruciating painful on my teeth and gum. I had to scream for him to stop at times. I'm sure the tool wasn't designed to provide that kind of level of comfort rather, it was the reckless way he was using it. The most horrible part was when he was filling up my cavity. Prior to the filling, he drilled a hole and accidentally drilled through my whole tooth. I was sedated didn't realize that. After the procedure was done, I was told to rinse my mouth and given the ok to leave. As I was walking towards my car in the parking I felt a hole on the side of my tooth that he operated on. He didn't fill the cavity and completely and drilled right through my tooth. So I turned around and went right back to the office. He didn't apologize but did re-work the error. Guys, please take my experience into consideration before deciding to choose this dentist.

My son has been to several dentist throughout Merced, he has never left one asking to go back, today that happened. The staff and Dr are very friendly and understanding. We had a great experience and will definitely be back.

Appreciate all the great work Dr Chang has done for me and my family. It hurts to see some mean remarks to this office. There are two Dr Chang’s on M St please go see for your self!!

Warning this Dr is not worth going to. And also there are TWO "Dr Chang" and they both have their office on M ST. Just a block from each other. Both offices are in the corner but this one, 25th and M st. I do not recomend. The staff was friendly but the Dr. Was very aggressive and he hurt my gums so bad. I had never ever been pricked that dam bad with the pick thing. Dont go there I promise you it's not worth it.

They walked around with my mouth guard in bare hands and outside. Mouth guard didn't fit and ruined my gums. Meanwhile an old man watched from the waiting room the whole time. Also the spit cup sprayed back up someone else's mucus on my face. They left plaster all over my face and clothes.
