I was recommended by a family member. I gave the office a chance with not only myself but my daughter as well. I went for a cleaning. I couldn’t get that done because i needed a deep cleaning and that was the cost of $600. (They said my insurance wouldn’t cover it) Went to a different office and was able to get my deep cleaning done with my insurance taking care of it. My daughter was excited for her very first visit with the dentist. She got nevervous during her cleaning and started crying. I feel like instead of comforting her and trying to calm her down, she was getting yelled at. My daughter felt uncomfortable and ended up biting the dentist. After that she refused to go back. Since then i have switched her office as well and she really enjoys going now. She still gets a little nervous but they talk to her to try to get her through her visit.

THE LASER IS A GAME CHANGER, PAINLESS CAVITY TREATMENT! COME TO THIS OFFICE, NO MORE NEEDLES!
Dr. Felder has a wonderful bedside manner and is very consientious about how comfortable her patients are at all times. Service is prompt, I've only been here 5 times now but have not had to wait for her to finish with another patient. Billing is fast, her staff are very knowledgeable about what is and is not covered by insurance. Overall, the best dental experience I've ever had. No more apprehension building before every visit!
Thanks Dr. Felder, see you next visit!

At my most recent appointment with Dr. Felder I was informed I had periodontal disease and would have to pay out of pocket for deep cleanings. When I informed her that I work for a periodontal office I was told to go get treatment there then and was dismissed from her chair IMMEDIATELY. I proceeded to ask her how she diagnosed me with this, if I had bone loss or deep probings to which she could not answer. She continued to blatantly disrespect me stating “you work for a dental office with those teeth” and “it’s a good thing you wear a mask.” GOOD NEWS IS I DO NOT HAVE A PERMANENT GUM DISEASE. I would love to say maybe this was a lapse of judgment but being I’m a husky patient who was asked for my credit card information as soon as I walked in the door… I doubt it. Please avoid this place!!

Dr. Felder is the best. She is great with my 11 year old and 5 year old. She is friendly, nice. She knows what she is doing. Staff is friendly. She makes you feel at home. This is the first dentist that my kids look forward to seeing. My husband and I look forward to seeing her every six months. ❤️❤️❤️

Best dental experience i've ever had hands down! Dr. Felder always makes it such a smooth and painless process, which is tough for me with such sensitive teeth. Would recommend her to anyone!

Money hungry dentist. I wouldn't suggest coming here. Very friendly staff but I've been over chargeed for work done. Got a deep cleaning that costed me $600, not sure as to why it was so much when I'm insured. Nonetheless, I paid the amount, and contacted my insurance and to get an explanation of benefits. Good thing I did, I'm only responsible to pay $200. My insurance covers the rest. Be sure to have an explanation of benefits to avoid this problem from happening.

A great find in Norwalk. Over the years living in different cities I have a preference for specialized dentists and doctors rather than high volume offices. She takes insurance and has done complex crown work for me. She's the most efficient and precise doctor I've had.

Oh my goodness, another great visit today with Dr. Carol Felder DDS. It's been 3 years of great work and she brought my D+ mouth back to a passing A+ with very very minimal inconvenience or discomfort. And when I say D+, I mean everything was wrong with my mouth. But like they say, Rome wasn't built in a day but I think I beg to differ when it comes to Dr. Carol Felder. Great work.

I care a lot about oral health. I am a committed brusher and flosser; I wear my post-braces retainer every night; I clean my tongue and attend to plaque. I’ve seldom had a cavity. I’ve never needed a significant dental procedure. I’ve received consistently high praise and clean bills of oral health from my home dentist, whom I had been visiting [fairly] consistently for over 20 years.
When I first saw Dr. Felder, the story quickly changed. She told me that in the eight months since my prior cleaning, I had developed inflamed “gum pockets” that needed a “deep clean” — for $1200! She warned me using scary words like “bone loss” and “bacterial infection.” Now, I’ve seldom needed more than a standard dental cleaning, in my whole life. So this was upsetting and worrying.
Speaking of which, she SHOWED me with her fancy dental camera [I was impressed with the technology and cleanliness of the practice] an area behind my top front teeth that I know to be stained, most likely due to the chemical composition of my saliva and my tea drinking. I had been talking to my home dentist about this for years. Dr. Felder claimed, however, that it was evidence of an infection. When I told her I knew it to be a stain and started listing some of the factors that may have led to it, she hedged, changing the subject. This was my first clue that we were not building trust. An expert should not leverage a patient’s lack of knowledge to misrepresent a dental scan or image that requires years of training to correctly interpret,
Dr. Felder also told me that I have a cavity on one of my wisdom teeth that needed a composite ($250). My home dentist had described this as a possible area of concern in “10-20 years,” not as a current cavity. So, all in all, I was a bit surprised and sought a second opinion.
Dr. Felder’s dental technicians took xrays and did not proceed with a cleaning, as I had expected. (And paid for, as I understood.) I was charged $200 for the visit anyway.
After leaving, I called the office staff person, Gabrielle/Gabriela (sorry, I cannot remember specifically her name). I asked for a copy of my xrays, which are legally my property. She told me I could fill out a form and receive them in four or five business days. I immediately completed the paperwork
It took three weeks for them to issue my scans.
Needless to say, that is completely inappropriate. I cannot comment on whether it is illegal or criminal to withhold medical records for a patient seeking treatment/ a second opinion, but it is certainly unethical. That’s when they instantly lost me as a patient. I may report Dr. Felder to the Connecticut Dental Commission.
Dr. Felder’s office is actually closed more often than it is open (!), which may explain the delay in part. But it cannot justify three weeks to send an email.
A good Doctor should ENCOURAGE you to get a second opinion.
Finally, I got a second opinion from a trusted local dentist who is a member of my congregation. After examining me and discussing my situation thoroughly, he confirmed that my oral health is sound. He sent me out with a cleaning and an electric toothbrush. Total cost: $130.
I also consulted with a friend who is also a dentist to confirm I was going down the right path. All three of these other dentists: my new congregational dentist, my home dentist, and my friend, all confirmed that I had been treated poorly and that my dental health essentially sound.
Now, to be fair, there is some ambiguity here. The ‘cavity’ diagnosis could have been merely a conservative one. My other dentist referred to it instead as an ‘incipient’ area — that is, one that is likely to one day become a cavity, but not yet a cavity. I can understand professionals might reasonably disagree. But when combined with the unnecessary $1200 “deep clean” Dr. Felder recommended, it made the medical advice feel profit-driven, not needs-driven.
Perhaps others have had positive experiences with Dr. Felder. I wish I had, too.
