Zero stars. Total scam. After paying for a few visits I was told to see three specialists, before starting TMJ treatment. One specialist questioned why I was referred as nothing was wrong. Once all three specialist were seen, it was time to begin TMJ treatment. This is where I was hit with every excuse possible. I was told they had let their billing department go, a third party from their office. Due to this I would have to bill my own insurance. That included acquiring my own prior authorizations. This was after three months of waiting for this to happen through them. Nothing had been accomplished. Once the secret that they open bill, came out I was done. This meant that the whole insurance dance that I was told to do was a waste of my time and effort. I'm a mom. Not in Healthcare nor up with insurance lingo. This was a foreign area for me to navigate. I feel it's terrible to expect patients to handle this on their own. Open billing meant that I was on the hook to pay whatever insurance did not. As much as that makes sense, it doesn't because, this went against everything their office personnel told me. I was told that it could be up to a large amount of money to have the procedure done but they went with what my insurance company dictated the price would be. They tried to keep within the parameters of what insurance dictated was correct pricing. I was told that this allowed pricing to be fair. I was also told it could cost zero to a large amount of money and my insurance company would let me know the final price. Once my insurance company reviewed their policy I was told differently. They were very concerned as what I was telling them verbally vs what the contract read were miles apart from one another. I don't know about you but I don't like being lied to. Strung along. Milked for money until the big dollar event, just to cancel it all. That reads scam all the way.
I have requested my patient file five times. I have emails, phone calls, etc. It has been over a year and I have not received my scans or any documents.
Speaking of documents. When I was referred to all three specialists, I was told my scans would be sent to all three of them. When I asked for a hard copy, I was told that wasn't how this scan worked. A physician I was referred to, by them, let me know that was incorrect. A hard copy was available and they see them often. How frustrating. After each visit, I would call Dr. Barnetts office to ensure this wouldn't happen for my next appointment. I was told it was a weird occurrence and that they had already sent it to my next specialist to be seen. It happened with every specialist. Every. Single. One. I was told they needed to check all files and folders by Barnetts office. They checked, rechecked, I even called prior to my appointments asking if they could locate the scans before my visit. They weren't there. What did I pay so much money for then?
I have to say, not accepting insurance seems to suit them. You have to determine your benefits, acquire your own prior authorizations, and accomplish your own billing. This keeps them from paying staff to handle it. When it all blows up and they aren't walking the line that insurance companies make physicians walk, they seem to prey on your response. How are we supposed to know where to go from there. Someone needs to stop this place. They are taking good people's money and I for one want my money back. For ALL visits. I paid for treatment. I received lies and excuses. Seems a refund and hard review of his practices are fair. Let's ensure the operation is legal, ethical (it isn't) and they no longer take the money of trusting individuals.
