Complete Health Dentistry of West Michigan

Our hygienist, Molly, is the best! She is so kind and patient. She made sure to educate my child about oral hygiene without shaming them. Also, my child is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. Molly switched pronouns like a pro. She made us feel so cared for and understood.

I enjoy visiting this dentist! They are very welcoming and great at explaining the importance of your overal health based on your oral care. They are always on it to make a great treatment plan when needed. They simply take care of their patients.

I was hesitant to write this review but I thought I should just share my experience, but I will also explain how my situation changed over the course of a few months. I went here about 3 months ago as a new patient. As someone who has had one filling in my life, it was shocked to learn that I had more than ten cavities in addition to advanced gingivitis that would require an enhanced/special (expensive and more frequent) cleaning. The cost of all the work that they thought I needed totaled to over $4,000.
Flash forward three months and I just went to a different dentist and I have 0 cavities and no gingivitis and my bill is $0.
But I do want to explain some things- the first dentist visit frustrated me enough that I was extra careful about my dental hygiene. I mean, I always brushed but I was a bit lazy about flossing. So the new dentist (not Complete Health Dentistry) got me after 3 months of good flossing and gargling. Will that make 10+ cavities and gingivitis go away? I have no idea. But my bank account is glad I waited. The new dentist used the same XRays from my visit to Complete Health Dentistry of West Michigan.
I am not trained in dentistry and I bet dentists get tired with untrained people claiming to know more than them , so I will not assume or imply that anything predatory is going on at Complete Health Dentistry of West Michigan. Perhaps this dentist and the other dentist have different approaches to drilling/ there may be different schools of thought that they adhere to. I just wanted to share what actually happened to me. And lastly, I could see 1000 dentists and finally hear what I want to hear. But it only took one to have a basically the opposite diagnosis...and I didn't tell the new dentist anything about my diagnosis from Complete Health Dentistry of West Michigan.
I gave 2 stars because the people were friendly.
So unfortunately I will not be going back to Complete Health Dentistry of West Michigan. I can't afford it!

edit: 2 years later and still no cavities.

They overcharge for non-covered procedures and recommend unnecessary equipment.They charged me my entire COVID stimulus check for a supposed needed "special" cleaning, and wanted to continuously charge me for it thereafter, scheduling more frequent visits. I left them and went to an Ivy League dentist who had never even used the device they told me I needed to buy, and the "special" cleaning was only $33. They are con artists.

Never had any issues with my teeth and I go here for the first time and they say I need 10 filings! I go through with it and even a year later and my teeth hurt every day from the work that was done. Before the appointment I had no issues.

Dr. Maring and Brooke took awesome care of me today. I am scared of the dentist usually because I have sensitive teeth, but it was fantastic. I almost fell asleep while they were working on my teeth even.. whoops. Would recommend!

Dr Nicholas Ritzema, Kristen and staff are very compassionate and kind. When I came in with an emergency they took such good care of me immediately. I love how thorough they are, willing to answer any questions, actually encourage questions. My experience was wonderful.

Went to the dentist that previously owned this practice for 30 years, all semi annual visits for the past 10+ years have been excellent, great teeth and gums. Now this new regime tells me that I have serious gingivitis that apparently developed since my last visit in April. Spent so much time detailing the extensive treatment options necessary that they never cleaned my teeth. I was charged $88 to NOT have my teeth cleaned. Am seeing another dentist later this month and if the gum disease diagnosis isn't confirmed I will further escalate my complaint.

This office is great. I’ve had a hard time finding an office I liked and trusted when I moved to GR. This is it!! I like Dr. Ritzema’s whole body approach. Molly the lovely hygentist took so much time to explain each and every step of my plan and Jessica the treatment coordinator made it it easy to break down payments and scheduling. Highly recommend Complete Health for your dental needs.

Amazing practice, very thorough, professional, and welcoming! Dr. Allie Maring is wonderful—great with patients and goes out of her way to make sure that everything is done with the highest quality. She has done multiple fillings for me, and done an excellent job each time. Can’t recommend enough!
