I hadn't seen a dentist in well over 15 years, had a lot of anxiety and fear of being judged etc so I sent out a few emails to local dentists explaining my situation and asking for help and compassion. Dr Martin not only was the only dentist who bothered emailing me back, she actually asked me to come in that very day. And now I am so close to being able to smile again without feeling ashamed for the first time in years. I see many reviews stating they've had bad experiences but I just wanted to say that they have treated me very kindly and have helped me figure out how to be able to finance everything as well. I am so thankful I found such a wonderful dentist!

Woman at front desk was very snooty and acted irritated. Was convinced I was late for my 1:10 appointment when I arrived at 1:05.

I scheduled a cleaning and exam and they told me this appt was only for an exam, and that they would not provide a cleaning.

Would not run my insurance before I began my appointment. Said they needed to know how to treat me first, but how can I know if I want an exam if I don't know if my insurance will cover?

Reply to Dr. Martin: Thanks for your reply. You seem like you have a high standard of care, which I appreciate. However, your front desk staff should be more knowledgeable and more polite. None of this was explained to me over the phone or at the desk. I scheduled a cleaning and they didn't tell me over the phone that they would not be able to do one that day. When I arrived, they didn't tell me anything about your procedures, they just gave me an attitude.

I went to Distinctive Dentistry for over 10 years. My whole family did. We greatly enjoyed our hygienists, Sue and Ann. Cleanings were great, but scheduling is awful. I drove from Milwaukee for dental appointments, and occasionally I would get a last minute call (about an hour before my appointment) from Wendy, the administrative assistant, that my appointment was cancelled. She was very short and unapologetic, after I voiced my disappointment that I took off a whole day of work and drove over 250 miles to have a tooth filled. She stated, “Dr. Martin has been ill over a week. She hasn’t been to the office in days.” My mother, father and sister all experienced heading to the office for an appointment and it being closed when they showed up on multiple occasions. I really do appreciate the hygienists, but the office staff is a real concern, and unprofessional at best.

The advertising states, compassionate and caring staff clearly that is not true!

Called the office to see if there was a bill to be paid. Wendy stated the bill was sent to an address that wasn’t my home address. She stated it was past due since December and if it wasn’t paid in 2 weeks the kids can’t be seen. I told her I was just asking if there was an outstanding charge and don’t need to be lectured why the bill is not paid. She stated it was under my husbands name and I should know of this. Very, very rude! I let her know I was just calling to schedule a visit for my kids and pay the remaining balance, but clearly she does not care.

I was a patient of Dr. Martin’s for many years. I was always happy with my services there, overall, until the last cavity I had filled just a few years ago. I had a lot of trouble with it afterwards. I had to go back at least twice to have the filling ‘shaved’ down. Recently this filling fell out. When I called to see what their protocol is in this situation, they stated that since it was filled in 2015 I would have to pay full price. I didn’t expect it to not have to pay anything, but I thought they might at least pay a portion of it since it hasn’t been that long since it was filled and I was a long-standing patient, and this is their craft in question… I don’t know, maybe this is the standard everywhere? I’m usually not one to write negative reviews, but this upset me. Especially since I had so much trouble with that filling to begin with.

Very rude. Not veteran friendly at all. I'd strongly recommend some other dentist. I didn't even make it past their check-in area. One lady seemed like she might be ok, be way overworked or something. The other lady was just flat out unfriendly. Going to the dentist is bad enough. Having to deal with people like that while you're there just sucks.

Just over all disappointed because I looked forward to having this dentist, and getting my kids into her; as Janeen is great, but the business portion is less than upfront or caring. Without really getting into what happened, they lost a family of business and I am now looking elsewhere.

My family just started going here for our dental care. Very friendly staff that works hard to ensure your comfort! Dr. Martin always takes extra time to explain every option and procedure to me AND my two young boys. Would recommend to friends and family.

My experience there has been nothing but tremendous. Unfortunately I had a few cavities to fill. They let me know step by step what they were going to do to make me feel at ease. I will definitely be going back there again.
