Genuine Dentist Honest Clear Priorities Recommend

Dentist was genuine and honest. His priorities were clear: ensure I received the necessary treatments and not to unnecessarily waste my money/insurance. Absolutely recommend this office to anyone in need of any kind of dental care.

Great Dentist Friendly Staff Quick Service

I have been a patient of Reno Family Dental for about 3 years now. I have yet to have any kind of a problem. I would (and have) recommended him to my family. I'm always able to get right in and have had any problem taken care of right away. Not only he is a great dentist but his staff are "rock stars". I'm so glad I was able to find a good dentist in Reno.

Friendly Staff Efficient Dentist Cost-effective

What a great office. Ridiculously friendly staff. I have never waited more than 5 minutes. The dentist is incredibly fast and efficient. Plus he saved me around $3000.00 I dont know where the one stars came from, but it's an easy 5 stars. LOVE THEM

Good Service Comfortable Experience Lack of Compassion

I've been going here for a few years and have never had any problems. My son just started going here and said he felt comfortable when he got his crown. The only thing I will say about the Dr is that he could have a little more compassion for his patient's.

Poor Customer Service Missed Appointments Overpriced Services

Ending my clientship with this dentist office. No ability to have running warm water for open oral surgery and other issues I had been conciliatory and keep regular business with them dispite my better judgements. Good bed side manners, but after an oversight in scheduled appointment and thousands of dollars being spent, an appointment was missed for teeth cleaning which they soliticed from me by calling me, missed remembering the appointment due to a busy schedule on my part. I called them to verify what date the appointment was to keep the appointment and was advised I missed it by 3days and that they would Bill me $25 Mind you, over the past year, they received almost $5,000 in services performed, with an additional $ 2,000 estimate work that still needed to be done. The cleaning services they were to perform cost $ 125 which they lost for a 1hr slot, but billed me for $25 which comes out to loosing $100 which we could have Rescheduled the appointment, Got their monies plus the other monies for additional services pending. I notified them the previous visit that I had signed a contract for making commercials about Reno Nevada's services and experiences. They could have stood to receive much more business from referals from me personally by way of contacts with donors. They had issues but I was willing to have blinders on and over look them because they were really good people id gotten to appreciate in my visits and conversations. So I'll pay the $25 fee and take my business else where. Remember three decades ago when businesses appreciated their loyal clients. Now days, smiling faces are only good if you don't miss an appointment...ha ha ha...I miss the days of Mom and Pop shops...lol

Dental Anxiety Uncompassionate Poor Communication Painful Extraction

I will start by saying I have severe dental anxiety. But that being said, this IS NOT the place to go if you have the same issue. The front desk staff are all super nice and actually made me feel comfortable, which is really saying a lot. The dentist is a whole different story. He was ok when I went in for my emergency appointment when I broke my tooth. My husband and I both explained my anxiety issue to the staff and Dr. Meckfessel. He assured me he would make sure everything was great, that he'd make sure I was completely numb before he started the extraction. I almost felt comfortable with him. Almost.
Then I went back today for the extraction. Again, front desk staff very nice. And then it all went downhill from there. From the moment Dr. Meckfessel entered the cubicle it was awful. He didn't explain anything to me. He just said and did. Open your mouth as big as you can. I was visibly shaking and had tears running down my face. There was no attempt to comfort me or any kind words. My eyes were closed, which he had to have noticed. He didn't tell me what he was doing and all of the sudden there I felt the needle and tensed up, for which I was reprimanded. When I told him the syringe was pinching my lip instead apologizing and explaining why he blamed. Well your mouth isn't open wide enough.
He did keep his word and got me completely numb. But when he started doing the extraction on the bottom it felt like my upper gums and cheek were being ripped apart. I cried out in pain. He says I told you there was pressure. I tried to explain I was feeling pain in my upper side not my lower side. He just kept saying I'm not working on the top and told me in a condescending tone that I have strange nerves. I kept crying out in pain and he would just say you're going to have to stop that. I was starting to panic and lost control and called Dr. Meckfessel an a-hole. I know I shouldn't have but I was afraid and in panic mode. I started to hyperventilate and was shaking a lot. He kept working and then stopped and said he wasn't going to work on me while I was making myself hyperventilate on purpose. That was it. I went into a full-blown panic attack. He went and got my husband and swore at him saying things like f**k your wife, she has major anger management issues. He said that to my husband who hadn't said anything to him. By this time I was in a full blown panic attack and was yelling and crying and the dentist was yelling at me and I ran out.
My husband stayed behind let Dr. Meckfessel rant at him about me. My husband said some words to him about his lack of professionalism and Dr. Meckfessel actually admitted he was wrong. My husband went to pay the fee and was told they weren't going to add insult to injury. So while Dr. Meckfessel acknowledged he could've handled the situation better sadly, I don't think he is going to learn anything from it. Uncompassionate people don't tend to try and understand situations like that. He just sees me as some angry psycho who he had the misfortune of dealing with.
The only reason I picked a star at all is because Yelp said I had to.
About 7 hours later...
I went to sleep and when I woke up the anesthetic had worn off completely. I could really feel some pain in my upper mouth. I got out a mirror and looked. There are 2 tears on the inside of my cheek where I told Dr. Meckfessel it felt like my cheek was ripping inside and wouldn't even look. And now there are horrible red stress or stretch marks on the other inside of my cheek. Note to Dr. Meckfessel, LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR PATIENT IS TELLING YOU!!!

Poor Customer Service Unwelcoming Atmosphere False Advertising

Well i went in with insurance. doc says we are going to be friends. i needed dental care badly.once they saw my insurance was just started that was it i didnt feel welcome anymore doc sent nurse in to tell me we cant help you at all.dont belive what you see on tv adds.

Honest Amazing Staff Recommendation

The Dr. And staff are amazing . They were honest about what I needed done , which I'm not used to.
My mom needs help with a hurting tooth....I told her not to go anywhere else in town.
