I have been going to this dentist for the past few years and each visit they try to push extra services (sealant, special x-rays, fluoride, etc.) that are not covered by insurance to get more money from you. I always felt uncomfortable when they push these things. They try to phrase it like these extra (more expensive) services are the best thing for you teeth but no dentist I had before ever recommended these things. Recently, the dental hygienist recommended I get periapical x-rays instead of the standard x-rays, checked my insurance and said that it was covered. This information was not correct and insurance does not cover this cost at all. The dental office is not taking any responsibility for misleading me and making an incorrect statement about the insurance coverage. I have to pay $46 out of pocket because of their mistake and all because they were trying to bill for more money. They are trying to blame the insurance company for not covering it and giving an incorrect estimate but after looking over the insurance documentation, the insurance company is correct. Lalor Family Dental has not given any indication that they would update their insurance notes so that they can make more accurate statements about insurance for future patients after I notified them of the mistake. Without their recommendation and assurance that insurance would cover this, I would not have had the periapical x-rays done and would have had the standard x-rays done. The standard x-rays are covered 100% by insurance. Their "money first" mindset has now negatively affected me and I can no longer trust anything they say about insurance coverage. After this experience I would not recommend Lalor Family Dental to anyone and I will no longer be a patient here.
