Well I had a great first appointment with Tori back in October. But then got ghosted. ๐
Itโs been 5 months since the initial appointment, and still no callback to get an actual cleaning or work done. Iโve been calling their office for the last few weeks and still no one can seem to resolve the situation or provide some communication.
Except for Hannah up in oral surgery. Sheโs the best.
Edit: situation finally resolved, and have an appointment booked with a new student to receive dental work (it's now February).

I actually really enjoyed my dentist - the problem is the admin staff. I scheduled a root canal and notified the front desk that Iโd be a new patient. At this point in my life Iโm familiar with the dental process so I found it odd that the admin woman told me Iโd be receiving the root canal at the first appointment. I figured since this is a student based clinic maybe they do things differently, so I didnโt challenge her. I arrived at the appointment, which I had to use time off for, just to be told that my appointment was for an assessment not a root canal. The dentist explained that they needed to take X-rays before the procedure which makes perfect sense, but how on earth does the front desk not know this? I was not prepared to use several hours of my leave time across multiple days. THEN when the root canal appointment finally arrived (May โ22), they told me I needed to pay $335. Again, trusting that people know how to do their job, I gave the woman my card and asked if that was the price with my insurance contribution or not. The woman said my insurance wasnโt on file. 1) why did you not ask me if I had insurance? 2) I WATCHED THE ADMIN SCAN MY INSURANCE CARD AT THE FIRST APPOINTMENT. WHERE DID IT GO? Fast forward to Sept โ22 and they have YET to reimburse me for paying in full despite the fact that my insurance company paid them in JULY. I have been calling for months to get my $200 back and they have YET to handle this. Awful customer service and even worse admin training.
UPDATE OCTOBER 2022: reimbursement received!

UTHSC Dental School is excellent. If you are concerned about the future of America, watch and listen to these professionals in training and your faith in America's future will be renewed. These students and their instructors are the Top Guns of academia. The ancestry of these Americans is representative of all the Continents except Antarctica, even Arkansas๐. As a bonus, you will spend less money. Make an appointment. Your teeth will thank you.

I have had the pleasure of having work done by several student doctors. Currently in AEGD department with Dr. MaHaffey. She is doing a great job. I also love the assistants Jesus and Ebony.

๐ฃAbsolutely Horrible service โผ๏ธ I wouldnโt recommend nobody to come here for emergency services or anything else!!! I have been here twice in 1 week and has never been seen they are only allowed to take 8 patients in at at time correct ok I came on a Friday morning @7:15a- they said they are only allowed to take in 6 patients last week on that day due to a holiday they claim then I told the lady at the door that the lady over the phone told me 8 patients a day so it really shouldnโt matter you all still should have taken in 8 that day whether itโs a holiday or not it still should be honored because itโs just 8 patients it doesnโt make any sense at all. Then today this morning the lady stated that they are only allowed to take in 8 patients I said mam Iโm number 7 but she let in 9 patients in all so I asked is it possible if you could take 1 more I have been here twice!!! And Iโm in pain she said no mam itโs our rules we are only allowed to take in a certain amount and she gave me a referral to go to other placeโs that would not see me and on top of that you pay for parking and donโt even get seen!!! I feel lied too waisted my time twice and robbed!!! All at the same time these people up here at this school are very-unprofessional and they do what they want to do due to the prices being low I still feel like I was taken advantage of and lied too altogether customer service is awful on all ends!!!

I love going here for my dental work. The only complaint I have is that the women at the reception desk on the different floors are not friendly. They act like you are bothering them. I signed in once, and accidentally skipped a line on the paper. I walked over to a chair, and sat down. She called over to me and asked me why I skipped a line. I was embarrassed in front of the other patients. Otherwise, I love the dental college, and have encouraged my relatives to go there too.

Don't worry, the chicken got to the other side. I'm her close friend, she sent me these photos. In the first picture there's her in front of the school building on her first day of school. In the second picture you can see the chicken together with her school friends having some practice. She's doing well, just misses her kids a bit :( But the end of school year is near, she's gonna see them again soon :)
