Rock Doc Dentistry/Rene Herrera DDS

I would like to preface that Elizabeth and the other young lady that assisted Dr. Herrera during my treatments were always super wonderful, kind, and incredibly understanding of my dental anxiety. They always made my experience infinitely better. They are the reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of just 1. I started seeing Dr. Herrera after reading great reviews online about his office, and had been unable to receive dental care for many years before seeing him. I was evaluated, my teeth were cleaned, and a care of plan was made for me. I needed several fillings on both sides of my mouth, and because of my dental anxiety the office scheduled them to be done in two sittings which I greatly appreciated. All was well until I learned that Dr. Herrera wanted to do a root canal on a bottom molar. This was fine, except that because I am over the age of 21, my insurance would not cover the cost of the crown. The office quoted me $1,091 for the crown out of pocket. I was initially fine with this because I trusted that the root canal was necessary to my oral health. Upon some thinking, I called the office to find out if there was a different material that I could have the crown made in for a slightly lower price. Katie answered the phone and let me know that Dr. Herrera only does porcelain crowns. I asked Katie why that was, and she told me that any other material is “cheap work” and Dr. Herrera won’t do it. Porcelain crowns are conveniently the most expensive crowns most dental offices offer, and do not stand the test of time.
I decided to see other dentists to see if they could do the crown in mixed metal. I went to two different offices where they performed x-rays and gave me a plan of care, and both offices said that based on my x-rays, I would not need a root canal—just a filling. What they also found on the x-rays is that Dr. Herrera did a filling on my upper right side that was dangerously close to the nerve of my tooth, and that I had a cavity between two teeth that would not need a filling, but would need to be watched. Dr. Herrera did not inform me of this, he only told me that a filling on my bottom right had to be filled a little deeper than anticipated because of the size of the cavity.
Ultimately, the reason I will not be returning to this office is that while Dr. Herrera stated that I would need a root canal and have to pay out of pocket for a premium crown, two other offices confirmed that I would not need this treatment, nor would I need to pay a premium price for a premium crown. I will not make statements that suggest anything negative towards Roc Doc Dentistry or the professional nature of Dr. Herrera. I would like to believe that my plan of care with Roc Doc Dentistry was made out of my best interest, and that it was made based on the professional evaluation of Dr. Herrera. However, I have since found an office that accommodates my oral needs better and I will not be returning to this dental office.

I loved the attention and service I received from Dr. Herrera and the entire staff today. The atmosphere is exquisite, and the music is fantastic. I most definitely recommend Rock Doc Dentistry.

The best customer service ever. Staff very friendly and greet you with a smile. My husband was nervous but after his first visit and experiencing his wisdom teeth extraction he was totally happy with Dr. Herrera. Thanks once again for the comfort and patience. By the way we took our two year old with us to each visit and not one time did they ask or make remarks about no children allowed. Fantastic experience. Villegas Fam.

I absolutely love Roc Doc Dentistry everyone from the Doctor to staff they are AMAZING. Every time I enter a dentist’s office I get really nervous but this place has made me feel so comfortable I totally forget about being nervous. After my procedures they followed up with me and that meant a lot to me, Thank you Dr. Herrera, Katie and Staff you guys are the BEST.

Had a missing filling for about 2 years from a different dentist and I couldn’t get ahold of a dentist when I was living in NorCal for college. I went in last week at Rock Doc Dentistry for x-rays and they called me back in as soon as they could to fix that filling. They were quick and efficient, and I’m just so happy I can eat without feeling pain.

At 39 my wisdom tooth started giving me trouble. As always, I was apprehensive going in. So glad I did. It was quick and painless. He had me in and out in under an hour. 2 weeks later Im completely healed with no issues. Highly recommend to everyone.

Hands down best dentist I've ever been to. The whole staff is so friendly and do everything they can to make you comfortable. My husband was scared to have his teeth worked on and they were just fantastic. He had multiple root canals and never experienced any pain.

Rock Doc fits the title of this office. Cool Doc that will take in all sorts of Ins including Medical as well as takes the time to answer questions and is considerate to every patients needs for dental work. Also takes care credit for those with no insurance, so RCT's, CROWNS, EXTRACTIONS, WHITE FILLINGS, you name it. So i truly recommend him to close family and friends, so no need to look any further and give Dr.Rene Herrera a call. 😁👍🎼🎶 P.S. they also play cool music while getting your teeth worked on, it helps feel relaxed.
