Mediocre on the surface, a quiet disaster lurking.

I was never impressed with Crystal Dental, but not necessarily "one-star unimpressed" either. A co-worker of mine went there and seemed to like it well enough, so I gave the place a try. Although my initial experience was mediocre, inertia took control; I stayed with them for years because I didn't want to track down a new dentist and go through the whole first visit routine again. Unfortunately, I have now discovered that opting for a new dentist early on would have been well worth the switching costs. Crystal Dental really is less than mediocre, it's a one-star disaster.

When my new job relocated my daytime hours from downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena, it made sense to track down a new dentist. Unfortunately my new dentist's initial exam revealed that Dr. Alex from Crystal Dental improperly placed a crown I needed for a root canal. The base of the crown doesn't fit flush with my molar stub and, as a result, gunk became lodged in the gap and couldn't be removed with flossing, brushing, or mouthwash. Now my molar is deteriorating, so the crown needs to be removed, the deterioration addressed, and a new crown placed.

This bad news was surprising since I went to Crystal Dental every six months over about a three year period. Dr. Alex placed the crown a few months after my first visit. And yet, between the follow up visits that were intended specifically to assess placement of the crown and the four or five regular check up visits in the years that followed, he never pointed out the improperly placed crown. Now, you tell me, did he really fail to notice what my new dentist spotted immediately? Or did he notice--and simply ignore--his shoddy work since he would have to admit fault, and possibly re-do the job on his own dime? Well, congratulations, Dr. Alex, you don't have to face up to it. Since I won't ever be visiting Crystal Dental again, my insurance company and I will be spending the thousand plus dollars for the new crown and clean up work.

Disasters aside, expect a mediocre to lousy experience at Crystal Dental. The place has a dirty waiting area that wouldn't be all that bothersome but for the dreadfully prolonged wait. I try to make a point of scheduling my health visits early in the day so that schedules haven't become jumbled by some emergency that throws everything off. This effort made no difference at Crystal Dental, even when I had the first slot. I was consistently stuck in the waiting area for half an hour to forty five minutes. Then I would get the royal "please come back and sit in one of our dental chairs" where I would wait another twenty minutes or so before anyone showed up to start poking around my mouth.

I'm guessing Crystal Dental is better than nothing at all. But if you have options, consider them.

The wait time is short, they are always polite, and the dentist are amazing at what they do. I always feel right at home when I'm there. I'm always looking forwad to my next visit. I wouod recommend Crystal Dental to all my friends and family.

I seriously recommend this dental office. I have been going to this dental office for about 2 years, and Doctor Alexander always takes his work seriously, he makes sure you have the smile you want. Also, they have a great staff!

I am a regular customer of this clinic for almost 2 years. The clinic is super clean and well maintained. The staff very courteous and docs well experienced. A friend of mine recommended this clinic for dental implants. Since then I am turning to them for every thing; be it regular cleaning or any other issue.

I try to set appointment for which has nothing to do my review for my daughter. They practicly denied service. The girl said i need to to talj to the doctor to see if he would allow me to make an appointment. This just makes it worse service. So I said forfet it. I will look for another dentist. Worse service ever. They charge you for services that your insuranse covers. Will never go back there. The girls in the front very rude. The work they did was for my young daughter.

I finally had a good experience at the dentist, by that I mean, I did Not feel any kind of discomfort during my procedures. The staff are extremely helpful and were able to answer all my questions!
